Chapter 480: "Her Last Words"

Where we last left off was the final face off between Kanna, her mirror youkai; Inuyasha and his replenished Tetsusaiga. (Too bad the thing didn't snap in two...oh well.) So, Tetsusaiga is back to it's throbbing, phalic huge self and the group realize that-and in turn realize that- Kanna is now armless and the mirror youkai is weaponless. Inuyasha implores the nahility to back off-run away.

He doesn't have any intention on killing her. The Inu-gumi try to get her to leave too. Kagome claims it's over, that she's free. Naraku would have no more use for her. She seems to 'understand' but But Naraku still 'owns' her and tells her to take a suicidal move and take out the Inu-gumi with her.

So what does the kagami no musume go and do? But *BOOM!!!* Explodes into a million and a half glass shard fragments, showering everyone in the sharp tiny pieces. Inuyasha leaps and dives at Kagome to protect her-but Kagome stares over his shoulder anyway-completely taken aback that Kanna would take her own life like that.

In keeping watch-one of the mirror shards flies into Kagome's eye and gets lodged in there. (OWW..x.x ) But with it doing that it also shows Kagome the completely black and corrupted nearly finished Shikon no Tama--but with one little pin-point of pure light in it...Kanna's voice enters Kagome's head and tells her-in her final words: "That light will kill Naraku..."

Byakuya, seeing that this was definitely the end, comments that it was a shame for Kanna to die, and that that was a cruel way for Naraku to make her go-and leaves deciding to watch his own back-not wishing to lose his life obviously. Naraku contemplates the reason Kanna didn't manage to kill even one of the Inu-gumi while Inuyasha retrieves what's left of her mirror, berating her for ending her life thusly.

Shippou asks if Kanna was really trying to kill them-and Kagome explains that she wasn't...She didn't want to die either, and sheds a tear for the nahility which washes the mirror fragment out of her eye.

And now Kagome holds the secret of Naraku's demise, thanks to Kanna. What will they do now? Find out next week! Same Inu-time, same Inu-page!

A new development-a new story arch, but will it lend a helping hand to the end of the Inuyasha series?

Chapter 481: "Bones"

Kanna is dead, no time to lament the fact-Must move onto the next breaking storyline!

This time we start with a bandit. Your common ugly-faced bad ass killing, piliging and plundering a hapless passerby in the dead of night. He's interupted by a mysterious woman in the shadows. The bandit-who thinks it's odd for a woman to be out this late alone also thinks nothing of it-and threatens her. She merely comments on how nice his bones will be-and takes them through his mouth-leaving his skin, fat, muscle and whatever else to collapse like a floppy cat-suit to the ground.

Next morning the Inu-gumi come across it! And find it strange. They tell the headman at the nearest village and he informs them that the village has found 10 other corpses just like that, and that a mysterious beautiful lady youkai has been seen taking the bones. Miroku, of course, decides he's the one for the job! And offers to find the youkai-onna. Sango of course "mildly" flips out. The headman is delighted to hear that they wish to slay this youkai, and Inuyasha offers to test his Tetsusaiga on it, since he doesn't know if it works well any more after Kanna's mirror youkai debut.

So-next-we come to Kagome and the headman sending and waving someone off as they go to slay the youkai and find out it's only Sango and Miroku going. Kagome returns to a HUMAN Inuyasha. (two extremes in the span of 3 chapters. Full youkai-Human...wow) Inuyasha swears at his condition and Kagome says hey-can't be helped. 'Sides, Sango and Miroku ought to have some alone time too. Inuyasha still doesn't really get it, but he comments on whether or not Miroku's up for this. After all, he is still really damaged from Naraku's shouki. (a shway earlier chapter-back in vol. 46)

We move to the Houshi and Taijiya, where Sango asks her houshi the same thing. He flat out lies to her-because he doesn't want her to worry. She buys it-for now, and they spot a light in the distance. The Bone Woman has appeared. A pack of wolves attack her and she removes the skeleton from one of them the same way she did to the bandit. Sango attacks-throwing the Hiraikotsu at her, and she vanishes. They reach where she was only to find a trail of bones to where they think she's run off. They follow it.

The final panel has a profile view of the youkai onna with freakish eyes as she croons over Sango's Hiraikotsu.

I've no idea where this will go, it doesn't seem like it'll go anywhere-again-but I guess we'll find out next week! So tune in next time as we discover what this bone woman and the Hiraikotsu have to do with anything!

Hmm....I don't really see how this is going to help the plot any, but I guess after Kanna's death they're kind of taking a breather. Thanks again for the updates.

The Bone-Saga continues with still no link to the main storyline. Though this chapter does mark Inuyasha's 10th year of publication! Woo! Inuyasha is now officially a decade old! Anyway, on with the summery!

Chapter 481: "Hiraikotsu Targeted"

We begin with the Human Inuyasha and "his" little green miko staring outside from a shoji and wondering where Sango and Miroku are. The first assumption is that maybe the Youkai got them, the second is maybe Miroku ended up falling for the Bone Woman-which leaves Inuyasha with a sour look.

We move on to Sango and Miroku. They have followed the bones to a great estate. Miroku comments it's almost as if they were being led there on purpose, like a trap. They warn each other to be careful and leap headlong into the mansion and run right to-The Beautiful Bone Woman! Whom of which Miroku immidiately goes to asking if she has trouble, making Sango do a prat fall.

The woman claims that she needs help, that she is being possessed. The bone youkai has killed her family and all the courtiers, but Miroku doesn't buy it, and makes a comment about slaying the youkai in the next room. The estate shakes and the inner wall caves to reveal a huge bone manifestaition with [yellow] bulging eyes. He laughs at the threat of death from them.

He throws out shouki. Miroku tells Sango to be careful, she puts on her taijiya mask and charges foreward Hiraikotsu readyed to cut through the shouki telling the houshi not to use his Kazanna. She hurls it, cuts the shouki and the bone gets caught in the bone youkai's jaws. He starts to eat it saying it's wonderful. Sango's nonplussed. Miroku steps in with his Kazanna. He frees the Hiraikotsu but finds that even that bit of shouki he can't suck up without trembling.

As Sango picks up her boomerang, finding huge bite marks in it, the bone woman makes a move as if to help the monk. Miroku sees through her attempt and sticks purification salt in his mouth as she approaches. She tries to steal his skeleton but the salt keeps her at bay-she yelps and backs off with a skeletal arm and hand. Houshi explains what he did to the amazement of Sango.

The bone woman backs off all the way and explains that the bone youkai behind her is her father and he's ill. Bones such as the Hiraikotsu are the best way to get him better. (MAN this seems recycled from the Abi-Hime arch doesn't it?!) The old bone youkai entices Sango to throw it again, but Miroku throws offuda calling a retreat and regroup for now. The last panel has the bone woman laughing, claiming that they'll never leave the estate.

SOO that's this weeks installment! And-as I said-it still seems to be going No-Where! Here's hoping it goes somewhere next week! So till next time I remain ever the summery producer!

Your right, not heading in the direction we WANT it to be heading, but I suppose this is exactly why Inuyasha is 10 years old now?

WOW....10 years old really? Geez I didn't realize they had been running this for that long. Maybe the 'final' battle is near........or they could just give me some InuxKag lovin' and that would be good too!

It's amazing that it's been 10 years yet Kagome is still 15 -_-

If-you went through the manga and counted up all the new moons right through-you'd find that-oddly enough the manga spans about 2 years total. BUT anyway, this week's chapter was recieved a little early so ergo you guys get the summery early too. : ) So here goes:

Chapter 483: "Cage of Bones"

Kagome, human Inuyasha, Shippou and Kirara are on their way to save thier taijiya and houshi friends...

Well, where we last left this Sango and Miroku were running away and the bone woman was scoffing at thier attempts...Well-we start out here with the frames showing just that. Meanwhile Sango's banging on all of the shoji screens with her half eaten Hiraikotsu trying to find a weak point to break out. Miroku spies shouki floating down the hall and then within it they both witness human bone structures forming to attack them with blades. Sango leaves off banging, telling Miroku to stay back as she goes and whacks at the bone-men instead.

Of course-they reform. And reform again as she hits them. The bone woman is at the other end of the hall-obviously the one controlling them and she taunts Sango to come get her. Miroku holds the taijiya back knowing it's a trick. The bone woman doesn't seem to care. She says no matter where they go the shouki will follow and they'll die anyway. Sango laments the fact that she seems powerless here and that the houshi has sucked up too much shouki already.

A noise and a jolt of power startle them. Outside Kagome is breaking through the barrier with her arrows while Inuyasha, Shippou and Kirara watch. She breaks through and the group barges in. Shippou points out that Inuyasha is still human, what does he hope to do? Inu exclaims that he just can't sit around and do nothing. Shippou agrees and says if anything happens-leave it to him. (Aww...he's so big and so stwong! Its cute.) They come into the bone-men. Inuyasha smashes them while Kagome calls for Miroku and Sango. They spot the shouki and Kags goes in for the purification.

As the arrow flies the bone woman exclaims about more people getting into the mansion. Sango and Miroku know that its Inuyasha and everyone-but why is the hanyou here when he's human? The bone woman scoffs again and says it doesn't matter. Her father will get the Hiraikotsu and she has the walls around the two expel bones to encircle them. They whack but to no avail. The bones create a cage and the bone woman leaves the room satisfied for now.

Next scene, The bone woman-lying astride on the floor-obviously playing it up. Inuyasha kicks down the door, Kagome rushes in exclaiming: "A resident?!" And goes to help. The bone woman fiegns needing help and goes into position to take Kags' bones. Kirara knows better and leaps in front of the green miko ripping the bone woman's arm right off-letting shouki escape. The bone woman remembers that Kirara was with Sango and Miroku first and as she comments Kagome shoots another arrow her way. Unfortuneately the bone woman causes more piles of bones to flood in tripping Kags and Inu both up-and sucking them in.

Miroku attempts his offuda to get out of the cage. They fail. Sango wonders if maybe because he's taken in so much shouki that it's affected his houriki (houshi holy power). Mirkou then alters her train of thought by commenting about feeling something. They both realize then that the bone cage is moving...And moving into the old father bone youkai's jaws. Final panel they realize they, along with the bones, are about to be eaten!

Okay...so...STILL no connection to the main story-line. Is this in fact going anywhere? Or is Takahashi just wasting time-again? Who knows. Maybe we'll find out next week when the Inu-gumi make their inevitable miraculous attempt at escape. So-tune in next time as we slowly but surely head towards Inuyasha Manga Chapter 500.
