Reenactment (1/?)

Post by Akasha »

AN: This one will be a very, very long one. Um, there will be slight AU, your primary pairings: 1xR, 2xH, 3xmy character, 4xCB, 5xSP, ZechsXNoin, Lady UneXsurprise character?maybe some lemon/lime interaction between pairs? There?s action, fantasy, lemon and lime (strawberry daiquiri, and a martini). This takes place after Endless Waltz...a good ten years after. Not to spoil the story but to have you in fits for upcoming chapters, some characters will?reappear. Fic mostly revolves around Trowa and his lover. Enjoy!

Disclaimer: I do not own the GW characters or universe; no profit is being made. This is a fanfic.

Reenactment

Chapter I

It was the middle of spring in the west, so it must?ve been somewhere around or during winter in the east. But their winters don?t always look the same as the west?or feel the same.

Within the 17th Paris arrondissement The Meridien Etoile remained as usual?busy. In the Jazz Club Lionel Hampton restaurant, soft music played to accompany the mellow atmosphere of the passing rain. Soft music, dim lights, and wonderful food could have been used to describe a romantic dinner. A table set for two towards the back of the Club Lionel said differently if one were to pay close attention. Two blue suits sat in deep conversation...business over dinner.

?Why Paris??

?Because?? Edward Liguori lit his cigar and leaned forward, sending a puff of smoke towards his associate, ??people mind their business.? With his cigar in hand he tapped on a bulky manila filed folder that lay on his right, between him and his associate.

His associate reached over and took the envelope into his possession. He pulled from it pictures, papers, and a key that looked to fit to a mortise lock. Edward spoke,

?She?s on the L4 colony at the Charles-Henry estates. There?s a room two levels below the estate that she?s been held in since the last time she was put to use. That key will let you in. There are only three copies so make sure you keep that in a safe place. It can?t be duplicated.?

His associate looked at the pictures with high interest. Not only was she beautiful, but she was highly desirable. ?She?s going to bring me the order that this world needs?and much more.?

?I can?t imagine how she managed to get past security and destroy the development on Mars so easily. Preventers found no evidence of anyone entering or leaving before the explosion. What type of training did she go through??

Edward leaned back and exhaled

?You already know what she?s capable of. I?m only letting you in on this because of the deal we all made. If you?re successful with your plans, then she will no longer be of use to you.?

?Seems appropriate for a doll-?

?She?s not a doll. She?s dangerous.? Edward glared at his associate to make sure he got the message. He placed the nearly finished cigar on the edge of the ashtray. Their meeting was coming to a close.

?She can get out of control. The source of her control comes from a quartz crystal that holds the four natural elements within it. Her actions, her very being will reflect the one who holds it in their possession. If they have a negative intent, then she?ll have that same intent. That?s why you must be careful with how you handle her. That?s why she?s dormant right now.? Edward watched as his associate nodded and place the pictures aside. He picked up the bundle of papers that was amongst the materials and read them carefully. Edward gave a summary.

?The top page tells you what she is. She wasn?t created on Earth. She was created from it*. Her body was made from the natural elements of Earth and her soul is that of the planet she?s from. The important part of her is the crystal. It?s like an extension of her planet?s soul. You could say she?s the physical body of that planet.? Edward took a nice long pull from his cigar and relaxed. He continued,

?Her powers are represented mainly by nature, but she?s able to do a few things extra.? His associate looked a bit lost and didn?t quiet understand Edward?s explanation. Edward smiled and continued,

?The crystal represents her life force. Each time she uses her powers to the limit, she needs to revitalize herself so she can use them right away. To do this, she needs to use the energy from the four elements and the crystal indicates which ones she can use. The thing is, she can?t use the same one twice in a row. They all have to be evenly distributed.?

?So you?re saying if she uses fire to relinquish herself, then she can?t use fire again until she?s used air, water and earth.? Edward nodded.

?But you said she?s from another planet. How could ?earth? be her body and the other planet her soul??

Edward placed his cigar against the ashtray and leaned forward. ?Her body was made by the four elements. From what we know, her creator only used this planet to make the physical form. But the soul of her home planet is supposedly pure, thus allowing her to maintain such power within her. I guess this planet was too weak and corrupt because of us humans.?

His associate nodded in understanding and asked his questions,
?What?s her planet made of??

?We haven?t the slightest clue.?

?Then how did you come across such a creature??

?An ?agent? of ours claims he?s from the same place she is. He said her father, although the man isn?t her biological father, brought her here to protect her. He didn?t go into detail, but said that if she were to reproduce with a male, that bloodline will be invisible, strong. The invisibility doesn?t mean immortality. They?ll be hard to kill.? Edward smiled inwardly about this information and his intentions.

?But she has to willing give herself to a man and conceives his child. Taking advantage will just make things worse for her and for the one trying to achieve their goal. But, her father?s sudden disappearance had left her in this guys hands and he?s attempted to gain such power, and failed. Not being comfortable with the weakened Earth and space colonies, he let me in on his secret and wha-la?we devised a plan.?

His associate smiled and leaned back in his chair. ?If I were to be successful, my ideals will not be questioned.?

Edward paid no attention to his associates rants and continued,

?Dr. Bornik and Dr. Czestowoy have made attempts to clone her and failed. For some reason her genetic make-up cannot be duplicated in that manner. If she?s going to reproduce, only then will her DNA will be copied.?

Edward?s associate flipped through the introduction and gave his undivided attention to the assignment and task at hand.

?I asked for someone that will be invisible to the world Edward. I also asked for an army that is the same and dispensable.?

?And that is currently underway. We cannot copy her DNA, but we can use it.?

His associate flipped through more papers until what Edward was referring to came to view. He smiled and closed the file, packing it away into its manila folder then to his briefcase. Their meetings were always brief, like the life span of Edward?s cigars.

?How long until they?re ready?? He reached into to the pocket of his suit and pulled out a bulky business envelope. ?And how long until the ?prototype? can be put to use?? Edward took the envelope and placed it in his jacket pocket.

?Give the doctors five months and they?ll have half a million ready. And the ?prototype? for your army will be ready whenever you are. Just take heed to my warning Alfonso.?

Alfonso Banuelos, Head Delegate of Colony L3 nodded at his associate and got up to leave The Meridien Etoile. He had things to do, and people to see.

Earth: Main Preventers HQ

?I don?t understand, Milliardo. Things were going so well? What could?ve caused the Mars development to explode? You said so yourself that things were fine. We had people living there?scientists, small families, and agriculturalists. How??

Relena stood at her office window from the fifteenth floor of the Preventer?s HQ and looked out into the dreary rainstorm as she spoke to her brother. Turning halfway towards her brother, she repeated her question.

?How??

Sitting in a couch opposite his sister, Zechs looked at his sister, not knowing hat to say other than what has been said.

?Relena?Noin, a recruit, and I were the only ones that survived simply because we had just taken off when the development exploded. The fire didn?t last long once the dome exploded. When we landed back on Mars, we did the best we could do within the time allotted before that side of the planet faced the sun. We didn?t find any survivors. Forensics suggest it was a malfunction.?

?But maintenance was just done on the plant before it happened.? Relena sighed heavily and walked to her desk. She sat down and rested her head in her hands. ?So many innocent people?and children?I told them myself that it was safe; that things were?? her voice trailed off. Zechs could do nothing but comfort her. What happened was like someone walking across the street, not knowing that a twelve-wheeler would hit them that day.

There was a knock at the door.

?Who is it??

There was an answer, but no the one Zechs was expecting. The door to his sister?s office opened, revealing two familiar faces. ?Yuy and Chang, this isn?t the time to-?

?There?s some new information we found regarding the Mars incident.? Relena looked up at him teary eyed, waiting for his new found information.

?There?s a meeting in the conference room on the third lower-level in fifteen minutes. Relena, if you?d like to come, no one is stopping you. But Une thought it best for you to stay away from this investigation until something solid comes up.?

?But I did find it quite interesting Relena. It?s just a matter of you believing it or not,? Wufei added.

Zechs turned to his sister to say something about it but was stopped by Relena. ?I?m going to be there Wufei. It was my idea so I?d like to know what really happened.?

?Hn. Guess we?ll be seeing you there then.? Wufei walked away from the doorway, soon to be followed by Zechs. But before he left, he turned back to his sister,

?I?m sorry for not paying closer attention to your plans Relena and you don?t have to go through with this.?

Relena forced a smile and waved off her brother?s apology. ?From what I gather Milliardo, it wasn?t your fault. And yes, I need to be there so I can at least have some type of closure.? Zechs nodded and left his sister?s office, leaving her alone with Heero.

Heero and Zechs nodded to each other before Heero closed the door behind him. ?Wipe your face.?

Relena used the back hand of her suit to wipe her face, previously forgetting about her tears. ?I?ve forgotten about them. I?m sorry Heero, I just?I just feel responsible for those people.?

Heero walked behind Relena?s desk and turned her to face him. He tilted her head up and looked into her watery eyes. ?It?s not your fault Relena.?

Relena wrapped her arms around Heero and buried her face in his uniform. ?But it feels like it was, Heero,? came her muffled reply.

Heero tightened his hold and kissed her head softly before closing his eyes. ?It wasn?t. I don?t want you to continue blaming yourself for something you had no control over. Promise me, that if you cry again, that it?s because your grieving with the families of those that lost their loved ones, and not because it was your fault.? He felt her nod in his chest.

?Good.? He pulled back enough to tilt her head once more and closed their conversation with a gentle kiss.

*~*~*~*~

Fifteen Minutes later?

Pictures of the destroyed site flashed across the screen as Une went through the results from the lab. Trowa, Duo, Wufei, Zechs, Noin, Sally, and Heero sat around a table in awe or disbelief.

?Even though I?ve heard it once already, I still can?t believe what I?m seeing or hearing.? Duo leaned back in his chair and rested his feet on the table.

?Are you sure that this is what caused the explosion, Lady Une? Couldn?t it have been something else,? Noin asked.

?I know it?s hard to believe Noin, but the lab clearly show an abrasion in that area of the stabilizer. That?s where the impact is indicated. But with what, they still aren?t able to figure that one out. No type of metal or chemical residue was found.?

?So are you saying that it wasn?t an accident, that someone intentionally did this?? All heads turned to the inquirer. Relena stood by the door, with a stern look on her face. No one noticed when she walked in or how long she?s been there. All thoughts were the same?she was spending too much time with Heero.

?From these results that?s what it looks like,? Trowa answered.
Relena narrowed her eyes. ?I don?t understand why a human being would take so many innocent lives, and for what reason??

They all looked to the screen where pictures of the remains of the Mars development were shown. No one had an answer to her question, or to their own questions.

?I guess the only way to find out is to go and investigate,? Sally put in.

?Yeah, but go and investigate what? There?s nothing left but scrap metal and glass out there. We?re not going to find anything valuable,? Duo remarked.

Lady Une cut in, ?As of now, we have nothing. But to get to the next square, maybe some of you could do some research on the shuttle flights that have visited the Mars development. See if you can come up with anything.? Almost immediately, Sally, Noin and Wufei got up from their seats and left the conference room. The others continued to discuss their plans to contribute to the investigation.

Relena, not paying attention to the three leaving the room and the ongoing discussion, continued to look to the screen and wondered, ?Who in their right mind would do such a thing? It was complete and running well for five months. Just who??
