Let Me Dream Forever
Prologue

Alone again. That was all she could think about. That?s all she has been thinking about. Two years ago was when the love of her life left her; left her all alone to hope, to wish, to dream of his return. Life hasn?t been as much of a thrill as she found it to be before. But she has no one in her life to help put a little spirit back into it. She was alone. And she felt like she always would be.

Relena walked to her white limo early in the morning. She had abandoned the pink one. It wasn?t that she didn?t really like it, it?s just sometimes people she worked with would laugh at her about it. They were all in good spirits, but Relena wasn?t as much. She of course put a mask on and smiled at their jokes. But still, she got a new one.
Pagan drove her to her work building. The white-haired man wasn?t too sure how honest she had been acting lately. She would say she?s fine but there was just the slightest hint of sorrow in her voice every time she would say that. Or talk for that matter. But he didn?t really know anything to be wrong with her. ?Miss Relena, how have you been doing lately?? Pagan asked while keeping a close eye on the road.
?I?ve been good, Pagan. Thank you for asking.? She smiled at him and stared back out the window. She sighed. Heero?
She stared aimlessly out the window, a blank expression on her face. They drove by a park and her eye caught something that made her feel even worse than she already did.
There were two teenagers sitting under a large oak tree in the park. They were having a picnic and enjoying each other?s company. She watched as the black haired boy placed chaste kisses on the brunette. Relena couldn?t hear her but she looked like she was giggling.
She didn?t even realize that her head was turning to continue to stare at them and their innocent bliss as the car drove past the park. She turned her head back to the front of her and closed her eyes, imagining her and Heero being those two.
Heero was wearing a white button up shirt and jeans and she was wearing a pink sundress as they sat there and stared into each other?s eyes. That is, until Heero made his move. Placing Relena on her back over the red and white picnic blanket and him coming over her and then he started kissing her passionately. He would pull away and she would giggle and even Heero let out a light, soft laugh. And then his thumb would gently stroke her rosy left cheek. Oh how she loved the feel of this.
But it was only her fantasy. Not reality. She sighed heavily. Pagan glanced at her through the rearview mirror, but just went back to looking at the road. He didn?t want to disturbed the poor girl who was breaking on the inside, and no one knew. Or so she thought.

?Good morning Miss Relena,? her assistant greeted her with a smile and bright brown eyes.
?Good morning Hayley,? Relena gave a small nod to her secretary, Hayley Michaels. She smiled back at her and flipped her light auburn hair over her right shoulder.
Relena walked into her office and sat down in the brown chair at her desk. She had a large stack of papers on her desk. The clock hanging up on the ceiling said eight. It was going to be a long day.

By noon, Relena had signed countless contracts. That?s really all she ever did. ?I?m just going to get a stamp with my signature on it?? She spoke quietly to herself. She knew that wouldn?t work though. Who knows what would happen if someone got a hold of it and went stamping things that shouldn?t be stamped. But still, it beat having to sign papers for four hours and getting hand cramps.
There was a knock at her door, ?Come in.? Relena answered.
?Miss Relena??
?Yes Hayley??
?I was wondering if you would like to join me for lunch this afternoon?? She spoke softly as if too afraid that speaking loudly will set Relena off.
?I would love too Hayley, but?? She saw her assistant start to frown a little bit, ?this paperwork will be here when I get back.?
Hayley smiled at Relena, ?Okay, great! Let me grab my purse!?
Relena stood from her seat and stretched. She let out a small groan as her muscles began to feel relaxed from sitting in the same position after four hours. Maybe going out with a friend will make me feel better.
But she did go out with Duo, Hilde, or Quatre every now and then. But it wasn?t really wise because they always seemed to remind her of Heero. But maybe Hayley would get her mind off of things.
?Miss Relena, are you coming?? Hayley called from the doorway.
Relena was snapped out of her thoughts, ?Hm? Oh, yes. Let?s go.? She walked out of her office with her assistant.

?So how have you been Miss Relena?? Hayley asked, trying to break the strange silence.
?I?ve been good. Thank you for asking,? She hated having to always lie about how she really felt, heartbroken, ?and you may call me Relena.?
?Okay Relena,? she smiled. Then the waitress came up to their table.
?Can I start you two off with something to drink?? She asked while chewing bubblegum.
?Um, yes, I?ll have a regular coffee,? Hayley said.
?And I?ll have an iced tea. Thank you,? Relena said. She jotted down the orders as she blew a bubble with her gum.
?Alright, I?ll have that right out.? The waitress said after popping the bubble with her teeth.
?Relena?are you alright?? Hayley was serious now.
?What? Yes.? Relena was confused, or at least acting so.
?Okay?? Hayley seemed unconvinced of her answer, but she just nodded to Relena.
Does she know? Relena thought, feeling fairly nervous. What if she does? She can?t?Can she?
?Here you go,? The waitress sat down their drinks in front of them, ?Now what about something to eat??
?I?ll have the chicken Caesar wrap please,? Relena said.
?I?ll have the same as her,? Hayley added. The waitress nodded and walked away scribbling the orders on her notepad.
The two girls sat in silence drinking their coffee and iced tea. Relena wasn?t sure what would come of her mouth if she did open it. So she didn?t want to speak.
Hayley was quiet for the same reasons, but she felt uncomfortable in such silence. She wasn?t the type to stay quiet for a very long time. And five minutes was long enough. ?Relena, how have things been going with the peace of the earth and the colonies??
?Oh, it?s going quite well. It can be rather difficult to maintain the peace, but its well worth it.? Relena said.
?That?s good.?
The waitress came out with their orders, ?Enjoy.?
?Thank you,? Relena and Hayley said in union.
As much as Hayley hated to, she stayed quiet during the meal. If Relena wanted to talk, then she would. She couldn?t help but feel something was wrong, but she couldn?t place what it was exactly.
Hayley paid for lunch. Relena had offered to but she insisted and said she would take it as a personal insult if she didn?t.
Just like lunch, the girls stayed silent on their way back to work.

?Thank you for lunch, Hayley.?
?No problem.?
Relena smiled and turned to walk into her office but Hayley started to talk to her again, ?If you ever want to talk, Relena, I?ll be here.? Hayley gave a small grin and Relena returned it as she closed her office door.
She sat back down in the chair at her desk and started to work on that dreadful paperwork that she needed to finish by tonight.

?Oh Heero,? she moaned, ?I love you too.?
He kissed her neck, lightly biting her flesh. She moaned his name again in the pleasure from Heero?s roaming hands over her body.
?Never leave me again,? she whispered in his ear.
?I won?t ever leave you. Ever.? He spoke as he kissed her chest.

She woke up. Relena let out a small, quiet noise that resembled something like a whimper. More than anything she wanted her dreams to be reality. But something kept telling her it couldn?t be. While there was another little voice, in an incredibly hushed tone, in the very back of her head saying give it time. But the blatant one seemed to consume the other smaller one in it itself, in her doubts.
She sat alone in her room. The clock said ?1:12 am?. She sighed. The picture of a certain brown haired, blue eyed boy remained in her mind. As it had been doing for the past three years. When she first met him.
Him. The love of her life.
?If in my dreams is the only way I?ll be with you, then let me dream forever.? Relena whispered to herself in a solemn tone.
?You don?t need to dream.? A vaguely familiar voice answered her from the shadows of her bedroom.
