The Wait
A thousand days have passed
Countless stars have shone and died
Infinite minutes have gone by
And I'm restless here as I wait
Your words still linger in my mind
Those beautiful promises we said
During blissful hours, from night to dawn
It was so charming, all the love you paid
But still regal you carry your crown
Unshy and demanding as rock
Keeping everything inside your mind
Until you realize you're down on your luck
And then there's no way out
Unless crystalline wings you suddenly sprout
And soar far and away into the spring
But as usual, you snap back to reality
Farfetched's your name; you always liked to dream
That gilded crown you'll carry for eternity
But baby, you still have my number
Make sure you know it by heart
I'm not sarcastic, I just like order
It's hard to keep your heart and mine apart
So, okay, I'm willing to wait a thousand days more
But baby, if you come back, don't get scared if I snore

It's a great poem. I liked how you portray "yourself" or the person in the poem it refers to as waiting for her love! Was this inspired by a summer fling??
He sure will be surprised when he comes back

Kudos on the poem, it brought back nice memories!
