Chapter 3 Theft and Vows
Disclaimer- I almost forgot that I didn’t have to write one as ALL the characters in this story are mine.
Aki crept into the captain’s cabin, although it was a cold night he was dripping with sweat. He was terrified, but he knew this had to be done. Captain Cutkirk was sleeping high up in his hammock, and right underneath him was the chest that contained Aki’s precious belongings. His mission: to obtain the chest and leave the room as quickly and secretly as possible.
The captain was talking in his sleep. Shouting to be more accurate. But the pirates never took any notice, not only were they used to the midnight disturbances, but it was too dangerous to make any complaints. They stood the chance of walking the plank or having their heads violently removed.
‘IF YOU DON’T MARRY ME, I’LL KILL YOU!’
//this guy’s crazy. //
Aki lowered himself to the floor, his nose almost touching the ground, but as he stretched out his arm to pull the chest towards him, the captain’s rough and calloused hand suddenly grabbed his wrist, pulling him closer towards the high, wooden bed.
‘YOU ARE GOING NOWHERE!’
‘Captain I was….’
Aki’s heart was thumping against his chest. //Think Aki, think!//
‘zzzzzzzzzzz’ (A/N- if you know a better way to describe snore sounds, please tell me. thankx.) Cutkirk was fast asleep.
‘I just need to…’ Aki carefully prized the captain’s fingers away, his brows furrowed with intense concentration. Several times experiencing close encounters of getting caught. From then on everything went unrealistically smoothly. He took hold of the chest; pulled it towards him; and stealthily carried it out of the room.

Outside the moon shone brightly making it easier for Aki to see his way about the sky ship. As he carried the chest to his sleeping quarters, he bumped into a solid object, he jumped with surprise almost dropping the heavy chest.
‘S*@T!!!’
‘Ooops.’ There in front of him stood a surprised Ruri fiddling with her fingers out of nervousness. ‘You weren’t supposed to see me, he…he..he.’
Ruri laughed nervously and was just about to run back to her below-ship cabin, when Aki’s strong hands now free of the chest as he had placed it on the floor, caught hold of her shirt and pulled her back to him. His face barely concealed his angry yet astonished expression. ‘What’re you doing here, you could’ve given us away.’
‘Well…I thought you might need some back-up, you know a lookout incase one of the Pirates might have come strolling by.’ She laughed again to lighten the mood of no avail.
Aki still angry, not because Ruri had come along even though he’d told her not to, but because the intensity and stress of stealing the chest, added to the extra shock of unexpectedly bumping into Ruri in the dark, had snapped his dwindling patience. ‘It’s too late now anyway, I’ve finished the job and I could have done it by myself.’
‘Well there’s no need to get all huffy. Jeez. See you in the morning.’
Aki immediately recovered his patience and realized that he’d hurt Ruri’s feelings, in a quick attempt to make up he called out to her, ‘Look Ruri, I’m…’
It was too late, she had already vanished into the darkness.

Ruri was back in the dark room stroking the brown cat, which she had grown to be quite fond of lately. After all it was lonely down in that room and the cat seemed to be the only thing that liked her.
‘What’s wrong with Aki. He’s been acting so strangely lately. I mean, I was just trying to help.’
The cat purred.
‘You like me don’t you, even if he doesn’t’ she said to the cat. //Ughhh, look at me. I’m been reduced to talking to cat. //
‘I wonder what I’ll call you, I can’t just call you cat all the time. Hmmm, lets see…your male, so I’ll call you, Akiruri after Aki and me.’ She laughed embarrassed by her reason for choosing that name and could feel her cheeks grow hot. ‘Nah, that doesn’t sound right, I’ll just call you Maron, because you’re so brown.’
She laughed once more about the silly name then lying down on the cold wooden floor, Ruri closed her eyes and gradually fell asleep, while silent tears rolled down her face.

Aki entered the dark room nervously thinking of how he was going to apologize to Ruri. ‘Ruri, I’m really sorry….no. Ruri, I came to apologize for...He sighed. ‘How can I put this?’
As he had entered he hadn’t realized that Ruri was fast asleep, ‘I wonder what she’s dreaming about.’
Aki sat down beside Ruri’s sleeping body, deciding that he would apologize in the morning; instead he watched her as she slept. ‘Ruri, I’ll always protect.’
As time went on, Aki’l eyes slowly grew heavier and heavier and soon he fell asleep unconsciously, he took Ruri’s hand in his own, not letting go.
It was getting brighter and the dazzling light that burst through the holes in the wall of Ruri’s prison, almost blinded her as she woke up from her quiet slumber. She gasped with surprise as she noticed Aki asleep beside her, holding her hand. Yorka rubbed her eyes vigorously, wondering whether she was still asleep.
Last night she had had a strange dream, not the usual nightmare that she had now grown accustomed to, but one she’d never dreamt of before.
…Dream…
It was day time and she was walking through a wandering through a wood, the light shone through the trees, throwing patches of light on the wood floor. She was holding someone’s hand. A man’s hand, and as she looked up she seemed to recognize this dark-haired man, but the memory was faint.
…End Dream…
As she grew to recognize him she woke up. The dream unfinished.
Now sure that she was awake after a series of experiments which included pinching herself in various places, Ruri glanced over to the object on the floor and realized Aki had actually been sleeping next to her. //When did he come here? Why?//
For a brief moment she grew worried that they may have done something which could change her life forever, but then she relaxed as she remembered she still had her clothes on in the same way they’d been when she fell asleep. And anyway, she hadn’t been drunk when she had fallen asleep last night, just upset.
She sat there watching him and admiring his strong features. She was so enraptured that she didn’t notice when he woke up, even though she was staring straight at him.
When she did wake up from her day-dream she saw him looking at her and they both turned red.
‘I-I didn’t know you were….’
Aki interrupted her saying, ‘Ruri, I’m really sorry about how I treated you last night, and I just wanted to say…It doesn’t matter what I want.’
‘Yes it does, you can tell me Aki, c’mon, we’re friends aren’t we?’
‘It’s nothing, really, don’t worry about it.’
‘Ruri sighed. ‘If you say so.’
‘Well-I better go before I’m missed, its daybreak.’
‘Yeah, you’re getting sold today. Oh! Wait! You should give me the dagger now, to stop someone from getting suspicious if they see you give it to me out there.’
Aki took the dagger out of a bag, which he’d used to pack his precious belongings. It glinted as the sparse light fell on its smooth surface. As Ruri took it from him, she swallowed. She was nervous. This object was a source of violence and worst of all it stole lives, something she had never done before.
‘Um…Aki, I…’
Looking up she found that there was no one else in the room but herself and the cat, which lay purring up at her, its mysterious orbs gazing into her eyes.
‘You’re mine now, but I promise I’ll never use you to take a life.’ She was talking to dagger!
She put the dagger in its sheath and slipped it in the inner pocket of her shirt. Ruri continued with her daydreaming, softly stoking the cat.
A/N- I hope you enjoyed that, it didn’t come out as soon as the others due to utter laziness, which I’m sorry about.
