Hello, everyone!
I'm *points to name* Yumari. Nice to meet you!
Uh... I'm not new to the fandom. In fact, I've been a GW fan for almost 6 years now. I'm the owner of the 6x9 fansite Flames of OZ (my *neglected* fansite, currently on an indefinite hiatus; parts of the site can still be accessed, though), and I used to be known as Lucrezia Noin-Peacecraft before I changed my name to Yumi Konoe then to Yumari Kreuz to simply Yumari. //_^;;
Anywayz.
My favorite pairing is, quite obviously, 6x9 / ZMxLN (wheee~!), and I've been a very devoted fan of the two. However, I've also developed quite a liking for 13x9 (yes, you read right: Treize x Noin - I even run a fanlisting for them //_<) over the years... //_^;; Still, it's Zechs x Noin for me!
Aside from GW, I am also very fond of the following anime (I've included my fave couple in between parentheses): Great Teacher Onizuka (Onizuka x Fuyutsuki), Wolf's Rain (Hubb x Cher), Texhnolyze, Witch Hunter Robin and You're Under Arrest! (Kachou x Kinoshita). I also like Rurouni Kenshin (mainly because of Shishio x Yumi) and Fushigi Yuugi (only because of Nakago x Soi) and Cowboy Bebop (Spike x Julia).
What else...? Uh... Can't really think of anything else to say so... That'd be all for now. //_^;;
//_^v

Welcome to the forum Yumari!
Very nice intro ^.^ Although Zechs is not my favorite, him and Noin were always a couple in my mind and it's nice to see someone so dedicated to them.
The development of the Shishio x Yumi coupling in Rurouni Kenshin really surprised me ^^ However, they are truely made for one another as well.
Do hope to see you around the forum madam, be sure'n make yourself right at home here *waves*

//_^ Thanks for the warm welcome, you guys!
@ miz_lou - On Shishio and Yumi... Yeah. When Yumi was first introduced, I thought she's just he's arm decor (for lack of better term, hehe...), but as the Kyoto Arc progressed, I got a better feel of her character and since then, she's been one of my fave...
@ angel222 - A cookie would be nice. //_^

Yes, welcome welcome. As it looks we won't be seeing much of each other cause I don't know much about GW and concentrate my vain efforts on FMP mostly. But Welcome nonetheless. This is a forum of many lazy people, it's hard not to fit in here.

He and I have yet to come to an understanding ^.^Angel wrote:(she hates zechs)
Oh I absolutely understand what you mean. Arm decor is the perfect way of putting it ^.^Yumari wrote:@ miz_lou - On Shishio and Yumi... Yeah. Spoilers to follow, just click and highlight the black to see.
When I saw her with him at first I was like "What is she thinking?" but once they explained her past as a geisha I could see how she would want to be with someone strong who didn't want her to be in that line of work and would protect her from it. But how their relationship.. I don't want to say "ended" becuase it didn't.. but how he could sacrifice her. She was brave to sacrifice for him, I could see her reasoning.. but was he that power hungry enough to kill her to get a stab in on Kenshin? It really, really surprised me. What if he had survived the battle and ended up ruling Japan? Could he have lived with the fact that he killed her? After all, Shishio never felt remorse for all those other people he killed. Suppose my issues with their relationship lie in Shishio more so than Yumi.
lol, I always thought Megumi and Sanosuke should have hooked up.

More spoilers about Kenshin anime.
Sano and Megumi had the damn theme song too! It's silly how they never really got anywhere tho it wasn't written between lines, it was screaming at your face...
As for Shishio and Yumi, her sacrifice was just something that she was bound to do. Yumi was the kind of character that'd do anything to protect her new life. She sacrificed herself gladly, and in the Japanese culture as it was at the end of Edo period, her deed probably wouldn't have come as a shame to Shishio. Rather, it would have been a reason to respect her more. Go figure, I'm not an expert on this, but to me it seemed perfectly natural.
Oh I wish I got my old anime working on my comp again, the whole damn Kyoto Arc is there (with screens the size of matchboxes, crappy old .avi files) and I CAN'T HEaR iT!

Hello, _sigil! *waves*
I always thought the budding relationship of Sano and Megumi were kind of implied... *SPOILER ALERT!* Too bad, Megumi had to go elsewhere and Sano was, if my memory serves me right, on the WANTED list... *END OF SPOILER*
*sigh* They looked good together, imo. //o^
About Yumi and Shishio... *SPOILER YET AGAIN* Yumi's sacrifice was really out of pure love for him and out of a strong desire to serve him. Her dying words contained these very feelings:
"I'm so happy. This is the first time I was useful and it was during Lord Shishio's most important battle against Himura. I was always jealous of Soujiro and Kamatari. For Lord Shishio, fighting is everything… yet, all I could do was take care of everyday things. I was always bothered by that, frustrated. But, now, it's different. Please win, please win this battle, Lord Shishio. I'll be waiting for you, darling. One step ahead of you in hell."
When Kenshin started to... "rave" (?) at Shishio for what he did, Shishio told Kenshin to not judge him by his standards and that nobody knew him like Yumi did and that nobody knew Yumi like he did. I'm thinking that he must have always known/felt Yumi's desire to serve him further that when the opportunity presented himself, he did not hesitate to take it. But of course, that's just how I interpret what happened. *END OF SPOILER*
And I agree with you, _sigil, what she did really calls for a lot of respect... *bows to Yumi* //_^

Shows how long it's been since I last watched the series. I forgot all about that part.
And furthermore, seeming as RK's tsuiokuhen was a (yet another) manga epitome of Japanese samurai culture there was no other logical response from Shishio to what she did. Oh I do love those grim, haiku-spouting, tea-drinking weird Japanese men. -hearts-
