Before the Dawn

Meet me after dark again and I'll hold you
I aim nothing more than to see you there
And maybe tonight, we'll fly so far away
We'll be lost before the dawn

The moonlight beams down onto the earth, reflecting in the nearby fountain of the empty park.
We are alone, alone in the dark shadows of the trees which are the only guards shielding us from the suppressing pain of reality.
We are alone, alone in this moment, for once, there is nothing except us.

I shiver softly, as his soft touch on the bare skin of my neck sends a wave of excitement through my body. A gentle kiss is placed on my lips as my content sigh severs the comforting silence, a silence which speaks more than a thousand words.
Closing my eyes I let my hands trace his chest through the soft fabric of his shirt, halting for a moment to feel his rapid heartbeat. His clammy hands massage my tensed shoulders, taking the weight of them for a moment. There is no shame between us, there is no mistrust. In heart and soul, we are one?

His arms warm my bare shoulder holding me tightly against him, as if letting go would mean our end?Maybe it would. Somehow I always fear when he leaves me at the break of dawn again, that a part of me leaves with him. Just like the comforting save feeling which always disappears with him.

Soft kisses caress my neck taking me further and further away, to a dream. I?m flying, flying to a place where only we exist. Where the sunrise doesn?t mean another day that we try to survive. A place where our love isn?t a curse we carry, but the purest bliss.
But I wonder, why is something that feels so rite so wrong to others ?

Somehow I know that we cant wake again from this dream
It's not real, but it's ours

Hours elapse, in what seems minutes. Without being able to stop it, times slips trough our hands.
Slowly the sun climbs from behind the horizon making the dewdrops reflect in a thousand magnificent colours. It?s sad how something so beautiful, can make tears of grief well up in my eyes. His tight grasp slowly subsides. With a last warm kiss the coldness of reality slips back into our world. The weight on our shoulders returns, and we both allow our heads to hang. We don?t say a word, never a good bye. Only silence. Words are wasted for our eyes speak for itself. I sit back against the tree watching him disappear in the light of the rising sun, never turning back. Maybe I?ll see him tonight, maybe never again. But what we had last night is forever ours, and nobody can take that away from us?
