After reading all of these stories, I got inspired to write a Naruto one of my own. I'm currently writing a Fruits Basket one (over on FF.net), but I've never tried my hand at this series. I'm an avid fan of the series, I never miss an episode.
Anyway, here's my fic. I hope you all enjoy it.

Author's Notes - As I said earlier, this is my first Naruto fanfic, so please be nice. Oh, and I apologize in advance for any spelling or grammar errors. "Me fail English? That's unpossible!" This is sort of a dark, angsty story, and yes, there WILL be romance later on, so please be patient.

Disclaimer - I know, it, you know it, we all know it. They are not mine. They will never be mine, and they will never belong to anyone else besides their respecive owners. Unless someone figures out a way to bring them to life, which would be badass.

Oh, and italics indicate thoughts.

Don?t Look Back
Chapter 1
PG-13, for now...until I decide I should add a lemon or something.
It was raining.
She liked the rain. It seemed like, in a way, it washed away the impurities, and made everything clean again. As if the earth was starting over.
Fitting, for my return, she thought.
She carefully picked her way through the mud, making her way toward the large gates that marked her final destination. The rain continued to beat down on her, matting her hair and clothing against her already soaked body. But she didn?t care. She just didn?t care anymore.
She finally made her way to the guard post at the gates. Before approaching, she stared at them for a moment, as if trying to memorize their size and appearance once again. All at once, the memories of the past three years came flooding back to her.
She was summoned into Tsunade-sama?s office with an urgent message telling her to come quickly. She rushed over as fast as she could. Once she arrived, she found Tsunade sitting behind her desk, a file folder sitting in front of her.
Tsunade gestured at the chair in front of her desk, telling her to sit down. Once she did, the file folder was handed to her, and she promptly began to look through it.
?I have a mission for you. It?s highly risky and very dangerous, but I feel that you can accomplish it with no problems.?
She finished reading, and looked at Tsunade, curiosity in her eyes. ?But why me? Why not Ino, or TenTen??
Tsunade sighed. ?Because they?re busy with other missions. This job requires something they don?t have. You?re a very observant person, and seeing as this is an undercover mission, we need someone with your skills to carry it out. Will you accept??
She looked down at the folder in her hands again, and looked back up at Tsunade. ?Yes, I accept,? she replied, slowly nodding her head.
?Good.?
She came out of her daydream state, her hands shaking slightly. She took a couple of deep breaths, calming herself down. Finally, she pressed forward, arriving in front of the guard on duty 10 minutes later.
?Good evening miss. May I see your ID please??
With unblinking eyes, she reached into her bag, and pulled out her passport. Silently, she handed it over to the guard, who looked at it, looked at her, and then looked at the picture again, before handing it back to her.
?Thank you, and welcome back to Konoha, Haruno-san.?
Sakura ignored him, and walked through the post toward her apartment. I wonder if anyone will see me return. She rid her head of that thought, and moved on. It was dark, with no moonlight, and with her dark hair and clothing, it was doubtful anyone would see her. Besides, who would be out in this weather?
Except her, of course.
Besides, they probably all think I?m dead right now, she thought. Sakura finally reached her apartment, unlocked the door, and walked inside. She removed her mud soaked sandals, and walked into her bathroom. Before changing, she stared at herself in the mirror, hardly believing what she saw.
Her red-rimmed, bloodshot eyes stood out against her pale skin. Even though she was still muscular, she had lost some weight, making her appear smaller than she really was. She pulled a piece of hair away from her face, stared at it, and sighed. How in the hell did she let Tsunade talk her into this?
Tsunade got up from her chair, and stood on front of Sakura. ?Now, about your look?? she said, taking a strand of Sakura?s hair in her fingers and looking at it.
Sakura cut her off. ?What?s wrong with my look?? she asked, narrowing her eyes.
?Nothing, it?s just?with your hair, it?ll be too recognizable, and you?ll stand out too much. I?m afraid we?re going to need to color it.? Tsunade slowly walked around Sakura?s chair. ?Plus, there are your clothes??
?All right, all right, I get it,? Sakura grumbled. ?Just tell me what to do??
She tore her eyes away from the mirror, and walked back to her room, shedding her clothes in the process. Pulling a nightgown from a drawer, she once again began to think about the events of the past three years.
I had been sent on an undercover mission in the Village of Rain. I was supposed to infiltrate a large drug ring, find out what I could, and turn over my findings to Tsunade once a week.
As soon as I was ready, I left the village, not saying goodbye to anyone, not even looking back. I was 20, having been a jounin for 2 years.
Over there, I was Ami, the mistress to the leader of the ring. I did things I never would have dreamed of doing in my ?old life.? Since I was so good at observing, I was able to find out things no one else could.
Plus, my ?master? liked to talk after sex. It was something he did.
Sakura shuddered at that last thought. It was not something she was proud of, but it was something she had to do.
Unfortunately, because of my job, I had been forced to try many different drugs.
Sakura sighed. Even though I did it in moderation, I still became hooked. The last 6 months had been spent in a hospital, trying to get clean.
She pulled her nightgown on over her head, walked over to her bed and took another look at her apartment. Everything is still the same, after all these years.
She crawled into bed, and sleep overcame her quickly. She was so out of it; she didn?t even hear the loud pounding on her door. Instead, she slept soundly, for the first time in months.

Well, there you have it, chapter one. I honestly don't know when I will update. I guess it just depends on how well everyone likes it.
I will be telling more of her backstory in later chapters, so don't think I'm leaving you in the dark. And if the title of the story is familar, I honestly hope I didn't steal it from anyone. It's actually the name of a Prince of Tennis song. I suck at naming stories. :-?
If you want to know more about me, I recently introduced myself over in the "Introductions" area of BI. I also have an LJ. Not much goes on there, but if you have one as well, and would like to friend me, by all means, please. It's friends only, so you kind of have to be friended in order to read it. It's mainly just my ramblings about life and anime. Don't worry, I don't bite...unless provoked, or if you're stealing my food.
It was nice to meet you all! I hope to hear feedback soon! Please leave some. *sad puppy eyes*
Later!
