My father has been in for 23 years, is planning to retire next year, finishing his time up in Germany. Unless he gets stationed in Alaska next, they want to send him there and if he does end up getting that offer, he'll take the assignment. So its kind of up in the air really. I'm just along for the ride :wink:

My mom loved Alaska, said when it wasn't freezing cold it was beautiful. So is your dad an officer or one of the venerated Non Coms.

NCO all the way. He's a Senior MSGT. I, personally, don't think he will leave the service until he makes Chief~
What other explanation is there for staying in so long?? :-D I could never be in uniform, I don't think. I've never done ROTC or the likes.
Have you ever been in ROTC or just looking into it during your time at college??

Glad to hear she enjoyed Alaska, I have heard that it is pretty chilly, but I have also heard that its not as dark as often as people say. My dad has been, but I haven't...I bet the scenery is just gorgeous.

Ok Chirf, so he's not Army I take it, Airforce, Marines, or Navy? hm.......... hm, there are only Chief MSGT's in Air Force, and Marines have the Gunney, So i'm guessing Navy?

No I'm going Career as an officer, and plan to stay in until forced retirement.

You know you should go to Off-Topic and check out CPC, LAH, and CB.

Oh, sorry about that, AF stationed at an Army base right now...it is a bit of a change of pace.

Hey, that's awesome that you've got a career plan you're confident about!
