Yeah, she?s German, but I?ve always thought her Spanish for some reason. *shrug* She has that ?spunk? to her, ya know? A bit biased on my part, I know, and I?m sorry, but? whatever. It?s just a fanfic. If it bothers any of you that much, then stop reading. Okie? I made her part Spanish and part German?more Spanish than German though. `=P

A New Beginning
-Chapter 2: Betraying Him-



Hilde wrapped her nude body tightly in a clad of sheets. A still sleeping Duo lay beside her.

What had she done?! Slept with former pilot Duo Maxwell?that?s what!

It had happened so fast?Hilde could barely recall. First, they were eating dinner together, as usual, the next having sex on the bed! ?So much for mind over body!

Truthfully though? It was pretty enjoyable? But now? only one emotion ran through her being: Guilt.

=God, Gary, how could I do this to you?? To your memory?!=
Gary Sanchez was a friendly, compassionate, type of guy. Ready to help others, and his philosophy was that ?Laughter was the best medicine.? He was a soldier too? And maybe that was what attracted Hilde to Duo Maxwell in the first place: their similarities. Being that Gary was her first love it plausible? Naturally, Hilde was drawn to longhaired pilot, because of such a comparison.

But Hilde hadn?t expected to fall in love?again. And with Duo no less! Especially since Gary had died nobly 4 years ago at only 17?an age in which Hilde, by now, had already reached. By the time the mixed German/Spanish descendant realized her feelings for Duo, it was already too late. She had fallen. And real deep, too.

At first, Hilde felt as thought she was betraying the memory and spirit of her soldier-who-died aka Gary. But Hilde decided to stay with Duo nonetheless in hopes that her ?infatuation? would cease eventually. That way, she could still be close friends and partners with Duo, without guilt gnawing at her 24/7. And all the potential-love-romance between them would fade and be forgotten, eventually. But that ?eventually? never came?.

Because last night? How could that be forgotten?!

=Dammit!= Hilde swore silently. Tears stung her eyes. =I can?t do this anymore? it?s not far to me, or Gary, or? Duo.= With that final thought, Hilde made a quick decision to leave.

Disappear. Be gone.

?Forever?

Hilde shrugged off the last word. Forever was? such a long time. She?ll think about the length of her absence, later.

Right now, she needed to do some quick packing? and go. She prayed Duo wouldn?t wake up before then.

?I?m sorry,? she murmured quietly to herself, as well as to Gary up above, and the sleeping form on the bed. ?I?m sorry??
