Following Tradition (one-shot)

Note: a bit OOC from Heero. This is my first ever fic?dun dun duuuuuuuun

What a stupid stupid tradition.

Next mission: kill whoever thought this tradition up. What?s wrong with wanting to be with the one you love the day before the wedding? Screw tradition, Heero wanted to be with his fianc?, to hold and protect her (ok maybe do something else, but that?s beyond the point). His future wife was all alone and the thought made his chest ache, or maybe his chest ached because he was all alone.

Heero had tried every possible reason to be with his Relena. And every reason was answered with a slight smirk on his Best Man?s goofy face.

1) He was best fit for protecting her
?There are over 25 guards protecting each and every crevice of her room Heero, even bacteria won?t make it to Jousan without one of us gunning it down.?

2) Relena needed him.
?Or is it you need Relena?? This particular response resulted in a nice black and blue eye for Duo to bring to the ceremony. In his defense Heero stated that Relena did need something blue.

3) His toothbrush was in the room.
?You can borrow mine buddy!?

4) He forgot his laptop.
?Heero, you?ve never forgotten anything in your entire life, you wouldn?t start now.?

Heero even tried to sneak in, which he succeeded in doing until he found Hilde and not Relena in bed.
?Heero, honestly, you should at least attempt to follow this one tradition, for Relena.?
Heero just growled.
?Besides,? Hilde said. ?This all builds up to the excitement to your night together tomorrow.?
At that, Heero got a faraway look in his eyes. He nodded to Hilde and went back to his room.

Another hour passed but the thought of tomorrow night just wasn?t enough to placate Heero. He resigned himself to pacing in front of Relena?s door until both Duo and Wufei threatened brute force to remove him.

With a quick death glare Heero trudged back to his room. He flopped onto the bed in un-Perfect Soldier-like fashion.

Suddenly Heero?s pocket began to vibrate.
?Holy Shi?? That is quite a sensation, he thought.
He pulled the cell phone out and looked at the number; with a shock he opened the phone.
?Relena??
?Heero, you?re driving everyone crazy.? Came Relena?s calm voice.
?Wait I thought we weren?t supposed to have any contact until tomorrow.?
?No Heero, we can talk to each other all night, we just can?t see each other.?
::pause:: ?Oh.?
Relena giggled, ?But I feel your pain Heero. I miss you already and it?s been, what 3 hours??
?3 hours, 42 minutes, and 27 seconds.?
Heero could just sense Relena rolling her eyes at his response.
?Ever the Perfect Soldier huh.?
There was silence for a couple of seconds when Relena?s gentle voice spoke again.
?I?m nervous about tomorrow Heero.?
?Me too? he replied.
?I love you? she whispered.
?I love you too Relena.?

Relena sighed, ?Tell me a story Heero.?
?Ok??
Heero then proceeded to talk until Relena eventually fell asleep listening to Heero?s soothing and steady voice.

Once Heero recognized the steady breathing of a sleeping Relena, he felt his own eyes begin to droop, finally ready to succumb to sleep, content with listening to Relena?s breathing. For both had neglected to turn off their cell phones.

So that night the two lovers slept ?together? before the biggest day of their lives, without breaking the tradition.

AWWWW thank you sooo much!! I wasn't sure if Heero was ooc or not cause it was my first fic so i was really nervous and excited about it. so thank you so sos os sos ososossosoo much!!!!!!

That was refreshing!....I don't think I've ever read anything that enumerated the dialogue spoken by the other characters in the story...adds more clarity (I must say)....and you were able to pull it off....I really like this one...You kept it simple and sweet....oh! and may I add "fluffy" too.... ::jumps around:: ----> see
