Before it's too Late, Chapter 2

Post by Tapping »

Here is the second Chapter, hope you like! Sorry this chapter isn't as long as some of the other ones. I'll make up for it I promise!

Nope still poor, not making any money.

It was happening again. His head was spinning, his stomach felt as though it had been beaten severely. He was sweating hard. He was running down the hall, pulling someone along. He looked back, but it was so dark he couldn?t make out her face. They were running as fast as their legs would carry them, pushing past the pain in their bodies. They ran around a corner, and they hit the floor. She was closer to him now, but still nothing, no face. But her eyes, they were the only thing he could make out in the black that shrouded her face. They were so beautiful. Shining through the darkness that covered her face. Tranquility was filling him up, along with a warm sensation. He leaned in and kissed her. It felt like he had been yearning to touch her. For the first time in that moment he felt happy, complete. He wanted to stay there at that moment forever. She was about to open her mouth to say something, and he was egger to hear her voice. All of a sudden the ground began to shake and explosions were sounding off, the ground was began shaking even more violently and she was disappearing before his very eyes. Her hand was becoming faded and he could no longer feel her grip in his hand, it was becoming very cold. An image of a tall man now stood in front of him, fire was erupting everywhere. A sharp burning pain was shooting through his shoulder. He pulled his hand away from it, something red was covering his hand. He got up and ran as fast as he could. It was so hard to see, everything was falling down around him. The room was filling with a bright orange and yellow light, it was so hot it was nearly impossible to breathe. The smoke made his eyes sting and he felt his strength fading away. He braced himself against a wall and thought about dropping to his knees right then and there. He looked up and saw a small twinkle, moved closer and saw hope at last. There it was, a light, a door, it had to be a door! He sprinted to it ignoring the pain eating away at his battered body. He was almost there, but something, something had happened. A huge crash, something hit the back of his head, and he could feel warm blood rushing out of his head. He became deaf and was beginning to get dizzy. He was falling; everything seemed to be moving in slow motion, he couldn?t stop it. And at last everything was shut out of his mind. He opened his eyes into the darkness, where was he, was he dead? He could now barely move, but pushed himself up with all of his might. He began to walk, and continued to stagger into the darkness. Something flashed in his mind. He put out his hand, searching, but for what? But then another light raced through his mind, the girl with beautiful eyes. Where had she gone, what had happened to her? He began to run, looking everywhere. He called out, but there was no answer. He tried to remember her name but winced at the pain that came along with his concentration. He was running, desperate to find her; until something appeared in his vision. He came upon a small piece of clothing that he recognized. A cr?me color coat soft, and beautiful, he remembered who it belonged too. When he began to look at it more closely, something mortifying was happening. A small red dot had appeared, it began to grow, larger and larger. Blood was running all over the beautiful coat, but it wasn?t his. He then realized that the coat itself was bleeding. He stared in horror as the coat had lost its soft cr?me color and was no dripping with blood. She had worn it, he was positive. He picked it up in disbelief, and began to sob into it. He couldn?t save her, he failed, she was. . . . .

Odin shot straight up in bed. His hair was sticking to his head for he was sweating profusely. His chest rose heavily from his breathing. He looked back and forth in his room only to be pulled back into reality.

?Not again.? He said to himself.

He took his hands and ran them half way over his head in attempt to get his hair off his face. He sat sit allowing his breathing to go back to normal. He flopped back down onto his pillow, covered his eyes with the back of his hand.

?Why can?t I just have one night?s sleep without thinking of that girl. These dreams?. these nightmares won?t leave me. I feel like I should be able to see her face. But why? Why can?t I? It is such a horrible feeling, why can?t I save her? Why does she always have to die??

He wiped the sweat off of his brow and turned over onto his side. He peered out the tiny section of the window that was still visible, since the shade was not fully pulled down. He sat there just staring out into the darkness. He tried to clear his mind of the painful images that were in it. He slowly drifted back to sleep hoping that his nightmare would not return.

For the second time Odin had awake to something unpleasant. But this time it happened to be an annoying little white alarm clock. Instead of wasting energy and opening his eyes Odin simply rolled over and slammed his palm on top of it, and blocked out the blinding light with his pillow by placing it over his head. He continued this procedure until he successfully over slept by 20 minuets and was now forced to rush to get ready. Jumping out of bed he began to brush his teeth and undress at the same time, so when his teeth would be clean he could jump into the shower immediately. His plan had worked, however he didn?t calculate how long it would take to warm up the shower water and was forced to endure an icy shower which helped him wake up even faster. Jumping out he quickly dried himself off and began to dress faster then he himself even thought possible. Before running out the door he gave himself one last look in the mirror and a frown had crossed his face at one sight of his unruly hair. It seemed to part into 50 different directions, letting out a sigh he took his hand and began to run his fingers through his wet hair in hopes a somewhat decent style would come as a result. To no avail he ran past his closet grabbed his coat, slung his backpack over his shoulder, and picked up his helmet. He swung open the door of his apartment and rushed down the stairs.

A young girl was almost taken out by Odin when she walked out her door into the hallway.

?SORRY!? Odin shouted running past.

The girl shook her head, ?Late again I see? she turned the opposite direction and began to laugh to herself. ?That guy is really something else, you would never believe in a million years that he was actually?..? She ended her sentence as she began shaking her head again and continued to laugh.

Pulling out the keys from his pocket Odin started up his blue crotch rocket. He checked to make sure everything was in order, threw is helmet on lowered the visor and took off. Checking his watch he had about five minuets left and began passing up cars left and right. Just in the nick of time Odin pulled up to his destination; a small bustling restaurant that sat in the middle of town. Odin parked his bike in the back and walked in through the back entrance. He quickly dressed and tied a bandana around his head and had a black apron tied around his waste.

?You?re lucky? a voice came from behind him.

Odin almost jumped, almost. Odin turned around to see a young girl with curly auburn hair messily tied up off her face. She had one hand on her hip as if waiting for an explanation.

?What is your excuse this time, huh Odin?? she asked with a hint of sarcasm.

?What I?m here aren?t I?? Odin answered with the same tone she had just used.

?Ok, ok I was just asking cause you have been cutting it close all week ya know? Everything ok?? She asked cocking her head to the left a little as if trying to examine him.

Odin took a step back and tried to walk past her, ?I?m fine just haven?t been able to get a good nights sleep in a while that?s all?

?You had that dream again didn?t you. About that girl, the one that always ?..?said right before he walked out the door.

He paused and placed a hand on the door frame. He winced as he tried to think about it. His head always seem to pulsate with pain when he tried to remember the dream.

?Yea, I have had that same dream for over a week now.?

?Wow have you learned anything new about it? Maybe you should go pay a visit to doc, I?m sure she could help you.?

?No it?s still the same, and I can hardly remember anything about it when I wake up, and my head hurts twice as bad. Never mind about that now let?s just get going before?? Odin was cut off by someone?s voice.

?I DON?T PAY PEOPLE TO STAND AROUND AND CHIT CHAT, LET?S GET TO WORK BACK THERE!?

The two looked at each other and laughed as they walked out of the room.
