~New York City, New York~

Even as Heero was making arrangement's to go to Duo's home on L4. Even as Relena was being rushed to the hospital, the man in the black suit was walking through the subway station.

His boots clicked against the floor, throwing the sound off the arched ceilings. He walked up a flight of marble stairs and onto the balcony that wrapped around the upper level of the main hallway.

"Well, Crow?"

The man called Crow turned quickly to face the newcomer. He stood in front of Crow, his stance perfectly balanced. His brown hair was tousled, his blue eys were curious and he looked very friendly. But Crow's heart began to beat a little faster at the sight of him.

"Everything's in order sir," Crow replied, his voice nuetral only because of years of practice. "He's recieved the package and I've been alterted to him booking a flight on a shuttle to L4."

"Good--"

"Cedric."

The man with the blue eyes turned to face his companion. Their sex was hidden by the long saphire blue cloak they wore. Their voice was at a pitch where it could have been a high-voiced man or a deep voiced woman. Their face was also hidden by the cloak's hood.

"Yes?" Cedric asked. He sighed and rubbed the bridge of his nose. "You don't think this is a good idea, do you?"

"No," came the flat reply in a tone that left no room for argument.

"This was Dominic's idea," Cedric said, "Odin left it in his will that when the boy came of age he was to be sent to us."

"Then why not just bring him in? Why send him on a wild goose chase?" Crow asked.

"If Odin had wanted him to be sent here that easily, he wouldn't have left him clues--now would he?" Cedric asked. "You did your part. Now if the boy's as smart as Odin said he was, then he should be here before Peace Week ends."

"If he isn't?" Crow asked heasitantly.

"Then a lot of politicians can should say their farewells."

PEACE WEEK DAY 1

~The Kilo Bar, L4 Colony~

The Kilo Bar was Duo's idea. Foolishly, Heero agreed to meet there. Now he was regretting it. Something felt off about the place, something Heero couldn't put his finger on.

"And in later news, Peace Week opened today. President Peacecraft was in attendance along with her older brother Prime Minister Peacecraft of the Sanq Kingdom. The President had been taken to the hospital for what her publicist describes as 'a routine checkup'," the news correspondant said.

"Heero," Duo said cooly, sliding onto the seat next to Heero.

Heero stared at the usually happy-go-lucky pilot.

"Are you alright?" Heero asked, slightly concerned.

"Fine," Duo said shortly. The bartender placed a drink before the braided pilot and ducked back. Heero could've sworn he bowed to Duo. "So what did you want to talk about?"

"Duo," Heero began, trying to figure out how best to approach the subject. "Did you ever know someone named Odin Lowe?"

"I figured this was about that bastard," Duo muttered taking a long drink.

"Not about him," Heero said, "the people he worked with."

"You mean the people he worked for," Duo corrected, "yeah I knew 'em--still do unfortunately."

The bartender cleared his throat and gave the slightest shake of his head. Heero's eyes narrowed and they darted beteween Duo and the bartender.

"Well? Can you tell me about them?" Heero asked harshly, in no mood to play games.

"Uh--no," Duo said glancing back at the bartender. Heero would've pointed this out, but he was curious as to how deep the relationship between Duo and the bartender was. "I can't. Sorry Heeroo, gotta go."

Duo turned and walked out of the bar. Heero stood up and was about to follow Duo when he realized Duo left something on his seat. Heero picked it up.

It was a postcard, the old-fashioned kind. The picture on it was of an archway, made of white stone. Leaning against one side was a woman, her head cocked to an angle. She looked to be in her early teens. She was tan and her black hair was pulled back and secured with a ruby red flower that matched the off-the-shoulder dress she was wearing.

"Wish you were here," Heero muttered reading the writing on the card. He turned it over and saw nothing. No address, no clue as to where the postcard was from. Suddenly Heero remembered the glances the bartender and Duo had shared. A smile tugged on his lips as he remembered:

Find the man behind the mask, you know who I'm talking about. He's one of them. You convince him to help and he'll give you the next clue, good luck kid

Duo was working for whoever Odin had been working for. He gave Heero the next clue. Heero looked over at the bartender.

"Exscuse me, but can you tell me where this is?" Heero asked polietly.

"I believe that's Venice, Italy," the bartender said studying the postcard, "lovely place--they're having the annual Carnival there right now."

"Thank you," Heero said slipping the postcard back into his pocket. He stepped out of the bar and flipped open his phone. "Hello, I'd like to book a shuttle. L4 to Venice, Italy. As soon as possible."

PEACE WEEK DAY 1 CONT.

~Venice, Italy~

Heero stepped out of his hotel and onto one of the narrow bridges that arched over the canals of Venice. Moonlight flashed off all the surfaces. He paused on the bridge and looked out. The city looked like an old picture he had once seen in a history book. The normally calm and gentle city was alive with life. Bright colors contrasted with the silvery-grey stone. The water was lit from below and so clear you could almost see the bottom. The city had been restored after the Eve Wars and was now cleaner than it had been in years.

Of course, Heero couldn't take in it's full beauty when he was on a mission. His eyes sifted through the bright colors of the costumes and the white porcilne of the masks people wore. He didn't know exactly what he was looking for, but he had faith that he would know what he needed when he saw it.

Almost as soon as the thought ran through his mind, he saw her. The ruby flower sparkled in the light, playing off the woman's tan skin. She was wearing the off-the-shoulder red dress and in her right hand was a red mask edged in black lace. Heero thought he might have mistaken her, but then he realized that her eyes were locked on him.

He began to make his way through the crowd towards her. She never moved, though her eyes followed him through his entire journey. Soon they stood almost toe to toe. The woman smiled at him, tucked a lock of her hair behin her ears and walked away. Heero frowned and began to follow her.

~ESUN Capital City, Earth~

The room was a perfect sphere, almost two hundred yards in diameter. Balconies lined all of the sides, almost up the glass-domed ceiling. The marble floor was the ESUN's seal: A white circle ringed in black with a grey scale in the middle and five stars around the circle.

Right now the balconies were full of people. All important, passionate politicians. The only two noticeable absentees were Relena Peacecraft and Millardo Peacecraft. The two had been at the meeting earlier but had left. Right now they were in Relena's personal quarters.

"What did the doctors say?" Relena asked, biting her thumbnail. She was pacing in front of her fax machine waiting for the result of some 'routine tests' the doctors performed. The machine suddenly sparked to life and spit out a piece of paper.

Millardo picked it up. His eyes scanned it but his face gave away nothing. Relena swallowed back nervousness and fixed her brother with her blue stare. Millardo looked up at her.

"Well?" Relena asked impatiently.

"The doctors say you have a serious case of--" he paused, "stress."

Relena let out the breath she had been holding, the fear she had harbored in one woosh.

"Stress," she repeated, a smile tugging at her lips.

"Yes Relena, myself and your doctors--not to mention the majority of the world-remember that you are a twenty year old woman, have been at this job since you were fifteen and have accomplished more than most people who are fifty. The only people who seem to forget that are you and your stuffy politicians," Millardo said sliding the paper across the desk for her to see.

Relena's smile widened and she held up the paper to see it better. Millardo's eyes widened and Relena saw what he did--writing on the other side. She flipped the paper over and leaned foward.

My Dear Peacecrafts,

If my letter has made it this far than so have my plans. I will not tell you my name, nor my plans quite yet. You see, I am eagerly anticipating the moment when I will meet you both face to face. I see that Peace Week has gotten off to a strong start, despite Ms. Peacecraft's rather heartfelt objections. I must admit I was suprised that she wasd defied so quickly, a little odd don't you think? But then again, it is not in the nature of an idol to travel an easy road--but I suppose Ms. Peacecraft was never one to follow the rules very well. Here I go contradicting myself again. Well Peacecrafts, you should be pleased to know the letter is from your doctor's office--I simply borrowed the paper. Now then, I bid you a fond fairwell--at least until tomorrow. You should get back to the meeting--they're getting worried.
