Not of this World (Poem)
Not of this World
Wild and loose, a star in the core of a meteor
A gem in the ruins of a vast desert waste land
Fierce in a currant of tears mixed with sulfur
Hot iron branded a name on your hand
Follow the howls through a land deprived of sunlight
Catch a glimpse of a girl pale from a moonlight overdose
A nocturnal daydream sweeps across your mind
Through the despair we might as well make the most
I am not of this world i am now so sure
Questions and theories of being are undured
Get up fellow strangers, wipe the dust mounds away
Nighmares are creeping into the crevaces of our doubts
We must flee this sphere of illusions and gravity
Back to our own realm we must make it somehow
The pace of a stallion to march up a mountain
Or maybe that's asking a little too much
Struggling and trying to blend in the the scenery
So i can linger while i leave you and not have to rush
We're not of this world i fear to pretend
There's a place for us somewhere but we're stuck here instead
Centuries end in a matter of moments
Still too quick to wait for this feeling to pass
I wonder and wonder if you'll even look down
As i sink back to somewhere, but i'll never ask
Oh, that's not the direction i hoped to be pointed
But the sign in the road states it as clear as it's stands
But i refuse to make myself a redundant conviction
Instead i'll lead us down a road to no-man's-land
I am not of this world, i'm all too aware
If there's a land we can thrive in, we'll make our way there
Of course i'm out of my mind, it's dark and scary in there.

Geeze, you have a hell of a lot of talent. That was a remarkable poem, really makes you think. Your descriptions and word use were wonderful. Thanks for sharing it.

I'm not afraid of tomorrow,
i'm only scared of myself,
feels like my insides are on fire
and i'm looking through
the eyes of someone else

MER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've read poem's of yours before... But this is in a class all it's own! What? Where? HOW ON EARTH DID YOU DO THAT?!!? Geez.... That thing blew me away! I was pretty confident in my own poems... But yours blows mine right out of the water! Do you have any idea how talented you are? And you KNOW I would tell you if I didn't like it! I'm honestly stunned by how... Mer, this is deep.

The good writers touch life often. The mediocre ones run a quick hand over her. The bad ones rape her and leave her for the flies.

It could be worse, you could be a character in a John Steinbeck novel.
I want to die as my Grandfather did, peacefully in his sleep. Unlike the three other people screaming in the car.
