Never Alone (P1 of 3, 7/9)

Chapter seven- So Close yet So Far Away
It had occurred once again. Through the fields of the very same pass, a blinding light pierced through, each person upon it covered their eyes. The field was still the same, the men in their very same positions as when the first time the light pushed forth.
The sun still covered by dark clouds, rains pouring even harder as lightning struck even more, each flash followed by another, each accompanied by roaring thunder. As the light receded, two figures came into view.
The blue armored legion shouted their battle cry to the skies, only to fall silent as the fallen king fell to his knees, tears welling up on his eyes.
Only inches. He was so close by only inches to her, yet he couldn?t even comprehend what had occurred. He didn?t even care to comprehend. As long as the short haired girl was there, he knew that everything will be alright.
He held his blood soaked blade tight upon his hands, using it to help him stand up, turning slightly to look upon the corpse of the robed figure behind him. The rain had cleansed him of blood, cooling off sores from the endless battles only days before. The graceful figure had moved forward, swooping down and carrying the robed figure upon her arms, she looked upon the fallen king for a moment, then taking a bow towards him, she turned, a tear covered by the rain rushed down her cheek.
The ?jumpy? figure had fallen silent, her hands draped down as she looked on to the corpse of their once leader with great sorrow in her eyes. She closed her eyes tight as she raised her scythe, others behind her raising arms as well.
?Leave?? The fallen king?s voice boomed through the fields, ?You Do Not Have To Die This Day!?
The graceful figure nodded as a strange horn resonated, though only a part of the black armored army began their slow retreat. All the rest had their blades held up high, the three guymelefs from behind had moved forth, only one had left the soon to be carnage.
The famous swordsman as well had his blade held up high, the small legion behind him raising what they had, a horn sounded through the fields, cannons from within the fort being prepared for firing.
Duty or emotion, it was a choice hard to make. Honor or feelings, it was never easy to tell. The fallen king slowly raised his blade, lightning from all directions of the skies moving towards it. He quietly eyed each and every man in the field before him, shifting the blade to his side; he slashed it upon the air as shouts from behind him resonated, cannons booming as they shot off flaming boulders, still burning even through the great rains. The famous swordsman had called for a charge as well, jumping off the small ridge as each men behind him followed, screams for death heard through from everywhere.
Thunder boomed once more as the flash of light from the fallen king?s blade pushed through the opponent?s ranks, slashing each man upon a straight line, only stopping before a guymelef, holding its shield down before it. No sooner had this occurred, huge boulders of flame smashed upon the black armored army, their flames doused slowly by the great rains.
With the blue armored legion before him, and the handful of men upon its front, the fallen king blinked his tears away, charging towards the dark legion, moving to a frenzied charge, insane screams trailed him as with each slash of the dull blade, three men fell wordless, not even given enough time to scream.
The blue armored legion mixed with the darkness of the opposing army as the chaos began, the guymelefs from behind slowly moved forward, each step brought a small quake to the fields. Though they were still far off from the front of the army, they had been a terrible sight to see.
Cannons sounded through the rains once again, three boulders aimed upon one large figure, the two making it falter back as the third pushed it down, taking a few men upon its descent, the final shots that they made.
The carnage continued on even as the dark clouds began to move off and disappear, revealing the sun just as it reached the horizon, the skies a hue of orange. Half of each armies had been destroyed as the guymelefs continued the slaughter.
Just then, a huge quake struck upon the lands, the ground splitting itself from before the men. Each one paused as they tried to stay in balance, the only man still fighting was the fallen king, and his movements seemed unfaltered by the great quake. As he slashed against another of the black armored army he stood silent, as if the split of the earth had beckoned him, he ran towards the source of the quake, ignoring all others around him.
Rising from the fields, the vision of a great giant moved up, each man stared in awe as it came up in complete view, the fallen king still continued his movements towards it.
?Escaflowne?? The words had escaped the famous swordsman?s lips as he held his blade down.
New tears formed upon the fallen king?s eyes. He did not care about Escaflowne, he only knew one thing, when Escaflowne had appeared, she would be there.
The chest of the great mechanical being had opened as the earth below closed, water splashed out of it, a figure of a woman fell off. The fallen king stood under it, catching the woman just as she fell, forcing him to move to a sit, holding her tighter as he dried his tears upon her blouse.
Her eyes remained open as she looked over the person holding her, a smile forming upon her lips as she wrapped her arms around the fallen king, tears still flowing from her eyes.
Marching was heard once again from the distance as cannons boomed once more; burning boulders crashing upon the two remaining guymelefs, taking them down as well as others of the black armored army were taken by the massive figures.
Others began to run away in a frantic pace; armies from the west with the same armor as the blue legion though only a few numbers more moved towards the darkness. The sight of the legendary dragon armor and the reinforcements from the west had shattered what moral they had left.
?COWARDS!? The ?jumpy? figure shouted as she ran towards the fallen king, her scythe raised upon the sky as she took a great leap towards him.
Just as she jumped, figures around her pressed spears close to her neck. She fell silent as she stood still, the men surrounding her keeping a close eye upon her movements. She growled low as she looked over the fallen king, raising her arms as her scythe fell to the ground.
?I thought it was the last time I would ever see you.? The short haired girl whispered as her hug around him tightened a bit, sniffing as she shifted her head upon his shoulder.
The fallen king nodded wordlessly, seeming that the world around them was gone, only the two of them existed. Not even the sight of the rebellion?s leader moved him.
?Cassidy?? The famous swordsman slowly moved towards the figure leading the army from the west, ?How has your side of the campaign been??
?Its doing well, though not as good as expected.? The long haired man shook his head as he stood beside him, looking upon the fallen king and the short haired woman.
He moved towards the ?jumpy? figure, sword held upon hand as he looked upon the men keeping her at bay, his voice carrying a sense of command, ?Chain her??
They nodded as they bonded her arms and legs together, and then dragged her towards the fort.
They stood there, staring upon the distance as all of what remained of the black armored army was forced to retreat, maybe to fight again the next day.
A man is not a man until he has accessed his raw untamed energy and takes pleasure to his capacity to fight and defend himself. Only then can he transform his blind rage into power to commit himself, to handle tensions and to make difficult decisions. Inner security also develops. It is based on his realization that whatever goes wrong, he can get help from his inner resources, from the basic energy of his aggression.
