Chapter six- A Blinding Light
The sound of marching could be heard through the fields as a black armored army counting up to thousands started to move towards the make shift fort, their ranks all uniform. Men from behind the walls stared in awe as the refugees took a quicker pace, running for their lives towards the fort. Who could blame them? The sounds of thousands of men marching in unison were enough to bring fear to anyone, not to mention the site of them, and to think that they need only destroy one small army.
Behind the armies stood a terrifying sight, five guymelefs marching with the armies, each stride bringing a quake through the ground though the armies seemed like they were never bothered.
Movements in the make shift fort were haste, all men running to cannons and their weapons, only a few men near the gate seemed calm, walking in unison towards the fallen king as he jumped off the wall. He nodded towards them as they nodded in return.
?Any ideas, captain?? An elderly man moved before the fallen king, his movements giving a feeling that he was still young.
?We take the front lines?? The fallen king moved his hand to his chin and looked above as the fallen swordsman and the tall figure were listening as well, ?Wait until the refugees are safe? take out the front then retreat.?
The handful of men nodded slowly, as did the two men up the wall.
The gates slowly opened as the first of the refugees ran through, breathing heavily, sitting down upon the ground. The fallen king didn?t take notice as he moved out of the gates, the handful of men following him, as well as the famous swordsman and the blue armored legion, their marching not as uniform as the black armored army, though it will have to do.
?The guymelefs will be a problem.? The famous swordsman whispered as he moved beside the fallen king, his eyes observing upon the horizon.
?We take high ground.? The fallen king replied as he turned his gaze towards the hill where he slept on, leading the blue armored legion and the handful of men there.
Then, silence moved through the fields as both armies stopped almost in unison, banners fluttering, upon the skies, each army remaining motionless.
The famous swordsman raised his blade as a part of the blue armored legion and one of the handful of men moved forward, moving their bows before them, placing an arrow upon their bows and pulling their strings halfway as the skies started to darken, thunder sounding through the fields.
?If were lucky, the lightning will hit those guymelefs?? The famous swordsman whispered to the fallen king as he turned his blade, bow strings being pulled and aimed towards the black armored army.
The fallen king remained silent as he took the banner upon his back, setting it upon the ground, the handful of men moving to him, the elder man moving right beside him.
?Stay here.? The fallen king whispered as he jumped of the ridge, the men behind him stared, a bit confused upon his movement.
Slowly, he moved towards the open field between the small, blue armored legion, and the countless black armored army. Taking calm strides, he moved towards the black armored legion then paused as two familiar sights moved forth.
The graceful figure moved her eyes over the fallen king as the ?jumpy? figure skipped beside her, smiling as she moved her eyes towards the blue armored legion, laughing softly.
?What a pathetic army.? A smile played upon her lips as she turned her attention towards the fallen king, ?too bad their leader is so cute??
The fallen king frowned as the graceful figure raised her hand, though the ?jumpy? figure did not fall silent, continuing as she giggled, ?You can have the blonde haired man on top of the cliff, I?ll have this one, fair??
The fallen king shifted his form, his hand taking a grip upon his blade, a small part of the dull sword glistening before the skies were totally covered with dark clouds, light rain moving down.
The graceful figure shook her head as she moved her hand towards the sheathed blade upon her side. Just as she moved her hand, the armies behind them split upon the center, a robed figure slowly moving through the ranks, metal from it resonating as he moved at a slow pace, armor from within making it seem large.
The ?jumpy? figure and the graceful figure turned and bowed towards this new presence, the robed figure moving towards the fallen king. The two men locked eyes, as the two women behind the robed figure moved back, the army behind them closing together.
Without a word, the robed figure pulled out an intricately forged blade and slashed towards the fallen king. He, in turn, jumped back then quickly unsheathed his blade slashing air as the robed figure moved to the side raising his blade once more. Steel clashed to steel as the two swords met, each man trying to push each other down, none of them getting an upper hand.
?Ja-ne, Hitomi-chan.? A young girl shouted as she waved her hand towards the short haired girl, beaming out a smile then turning towards the exit.
The short haired girl smiled as she waved her hand slightly, whispering under her breath, ?Take care, Yukari-chan.?
She sighed softly and started to walk through the wide halls of the mall, her eyes moving around the shops. Her movement ended before the stairs down, towards the parking lot, she tilted her head for a moment as she looked down the stairs, taking slow steps down, her heart starting to race as her breathing became harder.
She looked out upon the cars as she reached the bottom of the steps, her voice soft, ?Ko-ni-chi-wa??
She sighed softly as she looked around the parking lot, absentmindedly brushing down her short skirt, her free hand moving upon her chest, trying to calm herself.
Steel clashed upon steel as the robed figure and the fallen king continued to parry each other?s attacks, both of them seeming eager to kill the other. The robed figure pushed the fallen king back, letting him slide a few steps away, the robed figure pulling back his hood, a smile playing upon his lips as his hand slowly ran down the scar on his face.
The fallen king smirked as he shifted his blade down, tilting his head for a moment as he quietly observed the robed figure.
The famous swordsman stared at the two as the lines of archers slowly held their bows down, the robed figure?s name escaping his lips, ?Dilandau??
?Why so quiet Van?? The robed figure laughed for a moment then continued, ?It looks like you?ve just seen a ghost.?
?You should?ve just laid down and died in Meiyo Gisei.? The fallen king whispered audibly as he looked upon the skies, the soft rain mixing with the sweat upon him.
?That stupid little town, with those weakling farmers?? The robed figure?s laughter moved through the fields, ?Did they die??
The fallen king smiled slightly as he pointed the blade towards him, ?And what of your small group? The ?dragon hunters? was it.? He slowly led the blade down as he spoke slowly, ?Did? they? die??
The robed figure?s expression turned into anger as he charged towards the fallen king, blade?s clashing as the fallen king pushed his opponent back, his eyes blinking for a moment, wind surrounding him, pushing forth, ripping the ground as it moved towards the robed figure.
The robed figure was thrown back even more, upon the arms of the army behind him. He pushed them off him as he charged once more towards the fallen king, shouting to the air, ?Think You?re The Only One That Can Use Magick?!?
He jumped quickly, holding out his hand as air moved forth, pushing towards the fallen king as he held up his arm guard, the wind splitting and moving to his sides. The robed figure raised his blade just as he started to fall towards the fallen king.
The fallen king jumped back, the crimson gem hanging from his neck glowing faintly, he raised his blade once more, lightning from the skies moving to the metal as he moved it to the side, then slashed the air, forming a wave light, moving towards the robed figure.
He jumped aside as the graceful figure moved to the side, the ?jumpy? figure jumped high upon the air, the wave of light slashing the straight rows of men behind them, the wave moving through quickly, ending upon the leg of a guymelef, tearing it off him as the guymelef started to fall down, taking a small group of the black armored men with it.
?Dragon?s Blood Flows In Me As Well!? The robed figured screamed as he slashed his blade in the air, the wind spinning before him, hurling itself towards the fallen king.
The fallen king held his armguard up as he spun with the wind, taking him a few steps back until it dissipated; leaving him crouched upon the ground. The gem glowed fiercely, its warmth resonating over him, the short haired girl?s name escaping his lips, a silent prayer.
?Don?t Expect Your Precious Hitomi To Help You Now!? The robed figure shouted as he jumped towards the fallen king once more, his blade clashing with the fallen king?s armguard, the robed figure barred his teeth towards him, grunting as he pushed against the fallen king.
The fallen king moved his arm against the robed figure, in a quick motion, pushing the robed figure at a distance, they charged towards each other once again, and the crimson gem illuminated the dark fields, thunder crashing the air and lightning adding to the gems light, blinding everyone staring upon the duel.
After the light receded, the two men were gone, the mist from the rain pushed through by the winds, only muddy tracks indicating that they were there.
The short haired girl took another look around the parking lot as her hand remained upon her chest, her eyes moving around slowly. An uneasy feeling moved over her as she sat upon the stairs, staring upon the cars that were starting up and leaving.
Suddenly, a flash of blinding light moved through the lot, two cars crashing upon each other as the shadow of two figure?s pierced through the bright light. The clash of steel resonated from the shadows as they pushed each other back, one holding up his blade for another strike, the other prepared to parry it.
As the light slowly dissipated, steel met steel once again as the robed figure attempted to strike the fallen king, his blade preventing the strike to go further. Their blades held upon each other as they pushed against each other, the fallen king moved his arm guard up, blocking the blade as he took a strike upon his opponent?s abdomen, steel instead of cut flesh sounding through as a grin played upon the robed figure?s lips, gears starting to resonate upon his abdomen.
?Van! Watch Out!? The short haired girl shouted as she stood up.
Running towards the fallen king, she pushed him out of the mechanical arm?s way just as it moved forth from the robed figure?s abdomen, ripping his robe, the mechanical arm hitting the short haired girl?s leg, she and the fallen king moving to the floor, he quickly took hold of her and spun into a crouch.
?Daijoubu?? He looked upon her as she stared into his eyes, tears starting to well up in them both.
It was not so much from the wound, though her leg slowly bled. It was more for seeing him once more, seeing once again the kindness upon the fallen king?s eyes. The fallen king felt the same way, her eyes bringing comfort so long ago has been lost.
The short haired girl nodded slowly, holding herself upon him, her arms wrapping around him tightly, drying her tears upon his shirt.
?How touching?? The robed figure smirked as his mechanical arm quickly took hold of a dagger, throwing it towards the short haired girl as he shouted, ?Now Die You Idiotic Girl!?
The fallen king?s arm moved in the way of the dagger, piercing through his arm guard, right through his arm, though he didn?t even show any signs of pain, his features only grew darker, fury abound in his eyes.
He laid the short haired girl down upon the ground gently, standing up, not even bothering to take off the dagger; he raised his blade, winds blowing around him as he pointed the blade towards the robed figure. The gust pushed through towards the robed figure as a car moved in between, disrupting the wind, pushing the car towards the robed figure as he raised his arm, the car stopping in the air as it was crushed with an unseen force.
Just as the car started to fall down, the figure of the fallen king moving through the air, slashing the remains of the car then raising his blade once more, his shout heard through the parking lot, his blade meeting the robed figure?s though not remaining there for long.
The dull blade cracked the robed figure?s blade as the fury in the fallen king?s eyes deepened, breaking his opponent?s blade, the broken blade thrown off his hands.
The fallen king held the robed figure up by his collar, pushing him against a pillar as the point of his sword hovered over the robed figure?s chest, his eyes staring in terror as it met the rage filled gaze of the fallen king.
Winds surrounded them quickly as the fallen king shouted upon the robed figure?s ear, ?Never Dare To Harm Her!?
Just at that, the dull blade pushed through the robed figure?s chest, piercing his heart, his final words whispered softly, ?This is how you celebrate your brother?s death? By not sharing with his dream??
The fallen king shook his head slowly, whispering softly, ?He never wished for this to happen. Do not taint his name with your lies.?
The fallen king pushed the robed figure off from his blade, blood trailing down the steel as he turns towards the short haired girl, his features softening, he moved slowly towards her as she sat up and held out her arms.
A sudden flash of light brought forth from the gem hanging upon the fallen king?s neck, the short haired girl covered her eyes with one arm, shielding her from the blinding light. As the illumination slowly ceased, she shook her head vigorously, whispering repeatedly a soft no, moving towards to where the fallen king was, kneeling down upon the ground, her face covered by her hands, trying to hide her tears.
Slowly, around the short haired girl, water lifted from an unknown source?

Never Alone (P1 of 3, 6/9)
A man is not a man until he has accessed his raw untamed energy and takes pleasure to his capacity to fight and defend himself. Only then can he transform his blind rage into power to commit himself, to handle tensions and to make difficult decisions. Inner security also develops. It is based on his realization that whatever goes wrong, he can get help from his inner resources, from the basic energy of his aggression.

Oops...I haven't been in this Esca forum lately!! My bad! This is really intriguing, get the next part out soon! Normally, Esca fics I read are centered around the series, but it's clear that yours is almost entirely the Escaflowne Movie. That's cool, I like seeing newer takes on the storyline.
