Never Alone (P1 of 3, 5/9)

Chapter five- A Quiet Morning
The fallen king slowly opened his eyes as the sun barely touched the horizon, only its top revealing itself. He took in a deep breath, taking the sheathed blade upon his hands; he held it to his side, using it to help him stand up. He turned to look upon the fortification that was made only last night. Though crude, it would serve its purpose.
He moved down the ridge slowly, nodding to the guards patrolling, moving out to the open field. He stared up at the disappearing image of the mystic moon, its form covered by the suns first light. He took in a heavy sigh, slowly unsheathing his blade; he took a slash upon the air, turning then repeating his movement. He had to have something to forget the short haired girl, yet this didn?t seem like enough. He paused his movements, staring upon the blade, his voice echoing the name of the short haired girl so long had he lost, ?Hitomi??
?Too early for swordplay?? The famous swordsman slowly moved towards the fallen king, unsheathing his blade as well, a gentle smile forming on his lips, ?How about a spar??
The fallen king returned the gesture, smiling as well as he turned towards the famous swordsman, his sword held before him.
Their movements quick, they moved towards each other, steel clashing upon steel as each of them took blows upon each other. Their strikes seeming endless, some men patrolling the wall stood to watch, a few taking out gold pieces and placing bets.
Their duel continued, unfaltered strikes against each other, their eyes not containing anger but a sense of joy. This was the only time they could forget about all that they have lost, where they had their last bit of gladness.
The duel ended in a tie, one blade hovering over the fallen king?s neck, the other pointed upon the famous swordsman?s chest. Slowly, they moved back, resheathing their blades, the sun?s rays still barely moving through the fields.
?I better get back and plan our next siege.? The famous swordsman whispered as he turned towards the make shift fort.
The fallen king shrugged slightly, his eyes turning upon the horizon, trailing the illusion of the mystic moon while being covered by the new day?s light.

?Hi-to-mi?? A young girl whispered as she looked over the short haired girl laying upon the bed.
She looked around the room, everything in order except for the scattered cards upon the floor.
She returned her look upon the short haired girl, shouting to the top of her voice, ?HI-TO-MI!!!?
The short haired girl quickly gave a jump, gasping softly as she looked upon the young girl, ?Eh? Yukari-san? You startled me.?
?Sleeping in today eh?? The young girl placed her hand upon the short haired girl?s forehead, ?Feeling better now??
?You better get ready.? She nodded slightly as the young girl quickly pulled the covers off her, her voice cheery as she started to fold the blanket, ?That pain must?ve been terrible. You look like you cried yourself through it.?
?H-Hai?? The short haired girl whispered, sighing heavily as she touched her tear stained cheeks then her eyes moved to the young girl, ?Ready for what??
?SHOOOOOPING!!!? The young girl held her closed hand up as she continued, ?We?re going to have some fun today.?
?H-Hai?? The short haired girl whispered once more, forcing out a smile, slowly standing up and kneeling beside the scattered cards.
She looked upon the pile; most cards seemed to be faced down, only three cards were held face up, the maiden, the king, and the lovers. She slowly picked up the three cards, her smile widening as she held them upon her chest.
?That?s the spirit!? The young girl slapped her shoulder, then kneeled down to pick up the rest of the cards.

?Pretty quiet today?? The famous swordsman looked onto the far fields while the sun shone high upon the sky.
Beside him was the tall man, shifting his glasses up a bit as he grunted softly upon the comment, then whispering softly, ?Maybe their just tired today.?
Upon the back was the fallen king, taking a bite from the piece of bread in his hand, shrugging slightly as he took in a gulp, ?Maybe??
The bloated man leaned upon the wall?s edge, taking out a cylindrical device, it sounded of moving gears as he placed it before his eyes, taking a better look upon the surroundings.
He turned upon the other three, rolling a pair of dice upon his hands, ?Looks like we?ve got refugees today.?

The young girl ran down the escalator steps, giggling as she looked back upon the short haired girl, moving her hands to funnel her mouth as she shouted, ?Hitomi-chan! Come on!?
?Matte!? The short haired girl shouted back in reply, jumping upon the escalator?s railings, sliding down as the railings helped her move down.
She sighed softly, placing the bag she was holding to the ground as she placed her hands upon her lap, breathing in slowly. A guard moved before them, pointing his baton upon the escalator, scolding them. Both girls bowed low, voicing out their apologies as they started to run off once more.
Just then, the short haired girl paused, standing still in the center of the long hall, her eyes widening for a moment. She saw before her the silhouette of the cars in her dream, the people passing through them. She stared into the distance upon the fallen king, pushing his blade against the metal abdomen of the robed figure. The mechanical arm moved out, stabbing through the fallen king?s chest through his heart.
She screamed, falling to her knees upon the ground, closing her eyes as new tears started to well up upon them. The young girl quickly ran beside her, moving her arms around her shoulders. She looked upon her with confusion in her eyes.
The short haired girl quickly wiped the tears in her eyes as she looked upon her companion, smiling slightly, ?Gotcha!?
The young girl slapped the short haired girl?s shoulder, helping her stand as they started to run once more. Her thoughts started to run once more, whispering softly to herself the fallen king?s name.

The famous swordsman took the device from the bloated figure and placed it upon his eyes, nodding slightly. He turned over the device to the tall man, taking off his glasses as he looked through it, then moving it to the fallen king.
?Better open the gates now.? He smiled slightly as the fallen king took the device upon his hands and looked through to the horizon, ?They might prove to be useful.?
He remained silent for a moment, turning the device slowly as he looks through it, gears resonating in it.
He gave the device to the famous swordsman as he jumped down the wall, his voice trailing off, ?Under the tree line!?
The famous swordsman looked once more through it then turned towards the others, his eyes widening, shouting out an order as he turned, ?READY THE CANNONS!?
A man is not a man until he has accessed his raw untamed energy and takes pleasure to his capacity to fight and defend himself. Only then can he transform his blind rage into power to commit himself, to handle tensions and to make difficult decisions. Inner security also develops. It is based on his realization that whatever goes wrong, he can get help from his inner resources, from the basic energy of his aggression.
