[Poem] Perseverance

This is not a poem, I think. It doesn't follow standard format. But it's something I wrote, and I didn't know where to post it. I hope you all enjoy.

Perseverance

It becomes a struggle
An endless war
Waging upon darkness
Seeking light in our quest
Answers elude our search
A truth no longer there
Voids in which we struggle
Remnants of hope we once possessed
Captions of life
Unfairness to those fair
It's no longer balanced
A war we once won
Answers forecome
Deepest into our souls
We seek, further into the light
Although it flickers, and fades
Dreams once lost
Memories of hope
Too deep into our minds
We lose
We struggle
We gain
It's a never ending fight
This hope we keep
This hope we have
This hope we need
It's primal, it's true
Conquest of those dreams
A recollection of memories
A deep hurt once lost
A deep hurt, not forgotten
Hail those who persist
Hail those who live
... hail those who still hope
A prayer, true, alight
Will reach the highest of heavens
A faint memory of love
And one day
Happiness will come
A sadness, an oblivion will become
A war waged, won and forgotten
A new hope, alive and breathing

Hail those who know how to love...

Andrea, don't berate yourself for I still think it's a poem. Just in free verse and prose, that's all.
Anyways, this one was unique. Each line stood out on its own, and it's not really one of those that you can just skim over and hope you'll understand at the end. I got a sense of a 'round robin' (well, almost) after reading this, and I liked that.

Nice job.

O_o I shall agree with Calla Lily, it is very unique. I also agree with her on the fact that each line does stand out. In fact, I agree with everything she said!

Girl, why are you doubting yourself? That was wonderful!! Poetry isn't always rhyme and rhythm you know... My stuff is almost always in free verse.
