God bless fanfiction, really. I mean, would any of us be sane if it wasn't for other insane people that are willing to indulge in our assinine ramblings? I'll agree, I'm not fond of sad endings, but as I'm an anime fan, I've come to appreciate, and actually like bittersweet endings. I say this because my heart almost feels overwhelmed when something is bittersweet instead of happily ever after because it's more like real life. That sounds really depressing....geez!! But I think it will end on a hopeful note, if nothing else...
But I have to ask, Hitomi, do you have insider information on the ending of the series? Just what rumors have you heard?

eh he he he....
You see I was on a web site somewhere in cyberspace, and it was saying that the anime was sloted to have about 200 ep.s...and somewhere near the end... Inuyasha is supposed to die...but I refuse to accept it...Just like I refuse to believe that Kenshin kicks the bucket in the OAV...
Like I said...just a rumor...the person that said it is probably just a meany that wants to cause me heart failuar...really that's what it is...
A bittersweet ending is okay...outright saddness is going to rip my heart out...
The perfect ending ofcourse would be them together...but...
Kagome can't say in the past because of all that time mumbo-jumbo...
and I can't see Inuyasha staying in the future...Of course theres always reincarnation...and actually serviving for 500 years....
I guess theres hope yet, ne?
Maybe

:x My foot, her friends may have good intentions but whenever I see them, I go run for a roll of duct-tape. :xInu meets Kagome's annoying school friends!
Shippou becomes evil! Sort-of.

As for the finale, I'm trying not to care too much about it. You all know what happened with Escaflowne. Other than that, I'm just wishing that good overcomes evil... with not too many casualties...

Both of those chapters are just hysterical, and I must say one thing: Romiko may not have the same beauty in a consistant manner as the anime but her concept pictures are awesome and she can get the nuance of an expression across very well. So much so that even with my terrible Japanese I feel I can get what the chactures are thinking behind what they say.
All of which has nothing to do with evil Shippou. His attempts to deny what he was doing when he gets his comuppance are just priceless.
As to the ending, try thinking of it this way; oriental sensibility says that the beauty of joy can only truely be sensed as it is picked out of shadow. Thus, a resoundingly happy ending such as what we are used to here comes across as pretty heavy-handed. Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon had what we would call an unhappy ending. But wait! Isn't this a fantasy where any number of impossible things have happened already? So, as long as the whole thing doesn't result in a complete blow out you are free to tack on your own ending from where the author left off. Escaflowne ended sad you say? That feather is both a reminder and a potent promise by its very existance.
Enough literature, I'm for bed.

Mou lady! RUmiko. You know this by now! x.x
Anyway, who knows what Takahashi-sensei has planned for our loveable hanyou, his adorable miko and company? All we can do is hope that it works out for the best. And-if she doesn't come through-pitch a fit for an hour or so, and fall back on Fanfics, RP games, and daydreams till we find a new obsession! : )

When the dream fades
And reality is all that's left
A good story-book
Can bring it right back again.

I like the way you think, Noko Marie. I see how our culture would call the end of Crouching Tiger unhappy, but those kinds of endings are promising in my eyes. It's open ended, like GW and Escaflowne as someone mentioned before. I think they're done that way on purpose, don't you think? To please all fans because our imagination can then take it wherever we want it to go. I'm thinking there may be a lot of loose ends in Inuyasha on purpose, but then I don't have the same insider info as y'all do. Anyhoo, the fanfiction is so great, I almost don't need the real end of the series!!!

Ice Princess, there you go. This whole "good thing, bad thing" can be taken too far. Besides, I have already written my way out. So, I'm an idealistic romantic with a love of irontc humor--shoot me! I dare ya!
I hate admitting it; but, Little Green Miko is right on the money. Now if she would only stop posting in that unreadible green....

You know what? I just can't be bothered with the ending of Inu Yasha anymore. Paint me red and call me a tree monkey, but I'm getting somewhat tired of all this "what will happen?" So here's my theory of the finale:
Naraku dies, Kikyo dies, people and youkai alike die.
Hopefully someone lives amongst all the bloodshed, I prefer the houshi and the demon exterminator and other chars I'm rather fond of. (Of course, who wouldn't?)
Shikon Jewel taken care of, grant a wish and *poof* no more evil jewel.
However Inu and Kag will be forever separated.
SO there.
*whew, wipes brow from exhaustion.* Yes, I'm being ironic.
BTW, Noko Marie & Ice Princess, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon is one of my favourite films by far. I love the whole bittersweet tone to the piece, the haunting music (Wow, Yo Yo Ma, Wow!) and the individual stories behind each character... and how they were all intertwined with one another. Brilliant movie.
