Chapter 4: This may sound weird but….
After checking her bag, Alejandra quickly walked across the
colorfully tiled floor, keeping her head down. “I’m almost there. I’m so
close; I can make it”, she thought. She got into the security line, and
waited patiently as they patted her down, wanded her, and checked her
purse. She hadn’t been caught with her gun. Good. Her day was looking up
already. She passed through security and headed down a long ramp
towards her gateway. “Lioness! Don’t move; we’ve got you surrounded!”,
called out a voice. “Great, they found me.”, she thought. Overhead, the P.A
system turned on. “All passengers headed to L2, we are now boarding.
Flight 2348, we are now boarding.”, it announced over the gunshots.
Shielding herself, she ran down the hallway towards her gateway, thankful
that she didn’t have any heavy carry-on luggage. Passengers screamed,
and stampeded past the protesting flight stewardess. People around her
fell, crying out as they were wounded. Airport security arrived on the scene,
and everything immediately went to hell. People screamed as bullets
whizzed through the air. The funny thing was, that only security got shot;
not one of the bullets touched the Medinan soldiers.

Lt. Alton Medira. National Airport.
Eagerly, he ran towards gate G-23. His men were all there
waiting for him. Excellent, he thought. “Well, where is she?”, he asked. One
of the soldiers shifted uncomfortably and coughed. “Umm, well sir, we can’t
find her anywhere in this section.”, he said. “WHAT!!??”, he screeched
angrily. “Terry! Terry! Where the hell are you?”, he hissed. “Sir?”, said a
petite blond. “Explain yourself!”, he snapped. “I’m afraid I don’t
understand, sir.”, she said nervously. “Did you or did you not contact me,
saying that you found the Lioness?”, he yelled losing his patience. “I’m
afraid I didn’t sir.”, she responded. “I can vouch for her, sir. She was with
me the whole time. She didn’t make any phone calls, sir.”, said her partner.
Alton paled, his hand trembling as he took out his cell phone. He scrolled
down the list of calls received and when he found the number he was
looking for, he dialed it. “Hello?”, he said, when the call was
answered. “Who’s phone does this belong to?”, he asked. “Ummm. This a
payphone that you just called. I…”, said a voice that was suddenly cut off,
when Alton hung up. “Damn it!!”, he snapped. “Ramirez!”, he called. “Sir?”,
responded Terry’s partner. “Take out your laptop. I want you to access
National Airport’s customer files. Find the Lioness’s name. When you do,
tell me which gateway her flight just flew in.”, he ordered. “Gateway number
A-17!”, said Ramirez. “Let’s move!”, barked Alton.

Une’s office. L2 colony.
“WHAT!!!!!!”, she roared. “There’s b-bb-been an attack m’am. At
the airport, Shuttle flights have been grounded. And the police have been
called in. The attackers are still in the building.”, said the orderly. Lady Une
sighed. She could feel the beginning of a migraine. “Which airport?”, she
asked dreading the answer. “National Airport, m’am.”, he answered
trembling slightly. Une picked up the phone. “Sharon, get me National
Airport on the phone, stat. I want to speak with the flight coordinator.”, she
snapped. “And you.”, she said shifting her attention to the
messenger. “Mmmm’aaaammm?”, he stuttered. “Get out of my sight!”, she
snapped. “Yes, m’am!”, he said running towards the exit. “And bring me
some aspirin!”, she snapped. “Yes, m’am.”, he said flinging the door
open. “And don’t slam the….” SLAM!!!!!!!!! The door slowly opened and a
sheepish orderly poked his head in. He gulped, as he became the object of
a very irate glare. “Sorry, m’am.”, he squeaked, shutting the door softly.
Lady Une growled in disgust, as she leaned hunched over desk. She sat
down on empty space, and promptly fell on the floor. Looking behind her,
she saw that her chair had tipped over, when she had reacted so violently to
the news. Which would explain why it wasn’t there when she sat down. This
was going to be one of those days. “M’am”, said a voice over the
phone. “Yes?”, she asked sighing, as she righted her chair. “I have the
coordinator on line 2”, said Sharon, Lady Une’s secretary. “Hello? This is
Lady Une. For the good of the World Nation, you must give the order for
Flight 2348 to liftoff. Do not argue with me. I want it done now. I don’t care
how you do it; get it done!! What do you mean it’s impossible? Nothing, my
good sir, is impossible when your job and reputation are on the line. Do
understand my implication? Good. Now get it done.”, she said hanging up.
Sighing, she gingerly sat down, and prayed that nothing else would
go wrong. “Lady Une?”, said Sharon. “Yes?”, she answered. “Mr. Winner is
here. Shall I send him in?”, said Sharon. “Yes. By all means, please do.”,
said Lady Une, sitting up straighter. The door opened and Quatre Winner
walked in. “Quatre! Please, sit down.”, she said, motioning at a chair.
He had grown, she noted. He had lost his baby fat and had gotten a little
taller. Rumor had it that he still had his charm intact. And from the rumors
in the tabloids, he had been quite industrious with it. It was rumored that
every single night he brought a woman home. And she could probably
imagine that it wasn’t for business purposes. Quatre cleared his throat and
Lady Une blushed, when she realized that she probably wasn’t very discreet
in her scrutiny. “Quatre, I want to thank you for letting Ms. Jupiter stay in
your house as a guest. But I also want to ask you for a favor. I need you to
constantly question her. Any information that you can extract from her must
be relayed to me immediately. Another reason that I chose you to act as
her host is because of your empathic skills. Do not hesitate in using them.
They will serve a purpose in telling whether or not she is telling the truth.
Your charm is well known. Please do not hesitate in using your gallantry as
well, in order to gain her friendship and her confidence. We must do
whatever is possible in order to end this new menace to peace.”, said Lady
Une. “I understand; I will do whatever possible to help you.”, replied
Quatre. “Also I- I want to let you know that I am doing everything in my
power to insure that everyone comes back safely.”, said Lady Une gently.
Quatre’s face looked at her sadly, his aquamarine eyes easily conveying his
emotions. “I know.”, he said softly.
Suddenly, the orderly poked his head in her office. “Umm, Lady Une?
I’m sorry to interrupt you. I brought you, your aspirin.”, he said gingerly
placing the glass of water and aspirin on the desk. As he hurried away, Lady
Une gritted her teeth in an effort to keep from screaming. She sighed, as
he closed the door. Quatre hid a smile, as he picked up on her emotions. “
Ahem. Back to the matter at hand. We know nothing about her personality
or what she is like. I managed to find out that she was the owner of the B-
22 chip, but that’s about it I’m afraid. I apologize for not giving you more
to work from.”, she said officiously. “Don’t worry about it. Now, if you’ll
excuse me, I have to go pick her up from the airport.”, said Quatre getting
up. “Quatre, please be careful. There has been an attack on the airport,
that she left from. If the same thing happens there, then I want you out of
there, with or without Ms. Jupiter. I cannot afford to lose you, so no heroics.
Do I make myself clear?”, said Lady Une, sternly. “Yes, m’am.”, said
Quatre, widening his eyes innocently. Lady Une sighed, “Alright then, get
out of here. You boys will make me gray before my age.” Quatre smiled in
amusement as he closed the door. The age gap wasn’t that great between
them. As soon as he left, Lady Une greedily fell upon her aspirin and water,
thanking God for its fast action relief.

Hilde/Alejandra Jupiter. National Airport. Seat 9B/Seat 9A.
Hilde got up from her airplane seat, as soon as she heard the
screams and gunshot. But before she could investigate, people flooded
onto the airplane seeking refuge from the gunfight. A young woman was
looking at the seat numbers and muttering under her breath. “9A, 9A..
Here it is.”, she said. Their eyes met. “Hi. I’m Hilde. Do you know what’s
going on?’, she asked. So this is her, Hilde thought. She didn’t look like
much. She was thin, with brown skin and had glasses. Her face was angular
and her brown eyes were extremely serious. Her dark brown hair was curly
and pulled into a tight, severe bun. Hilde could tell from the way that she
held herself, that she was extremely shy and slightly snobby. She didn’t
look like she could stand against a breeze, much less Medinan
assassins. “Hello. My name is Alejandra Carolina Jupiter. I was not
informed about the distressing disturbance outside. So I am afraid that I
cannot answer your question.”, she said frigidly, sitting down. Alejandra
pulled out a magazine and ignored her. She sat there, oblivious to the
screams of fright, reading the magazine, as if it held the answer to the
most important question, instead of flight safety directions. Well excuse
me, Ms. My-name-is-Alejandra-whatever, thought Hilde disgusted. What a
snobby bitch.
Alejandra felt as if she was sitting on pins and needles. She looks
nice, Alejandra thought. Hilde had cornflower blue eyes and a friendly, open
face. Normally being a friendly person, she wanted to respond, but knew
better. She had a hunch that Lady Une, wouldn’t let her fly without some
sort of watchdog. Too bad I’m not allowed to make friends. I’ll give too
much away. “Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We have
just received an unusual order. We are to proceed immediately to the L2
colony, without any delay. If I can please ask you to cooperate during this
time, and please take your seats. We will proceed as if this is a normal
flight. As soon as we land, we’ll allow you to contact whomever you like, but
for now please turn off any cell phones. Thank you for flying Ace Airlines.”,
said the captain. As soon he had finished, Alejandra turned to her
companion. “Excuse me if I interrupted you, but I must know if you are
currently employed by the Preventers.”, said Alejandra imperiously. “Yeah, I
am.”, responded Hilde. “In that case, here is my cell phone number, in
case you need to contact me in times of emergency. I always carry it with
me.”, she said, handing her a slip of paper. “Um, thanks.”, said Hilde
dubiously. Alejandra ignored her and went back to her magazine, as the
plane took off.

Lt. Alton Medira. National Airport.
“Sir, the shuttle just took off.”, said a soldier. “Damnit!”, said
Alton over the gunshots. “Alright, listen up! We’re going to L2 Airport and
we’ll lay a trap for her there! Meet at point B. Now head for the bathrooms
and we’ll go from there!”, he commanded.
**********
Une’s Office 4:30 p.m.
“M’am, the shuttle just took off, it should be here, in about an
hour and half.”, said Sharon. Lady Une sighed. Now she could finally relax,
and maybe get some sleep too. “Also, several reporters are on lines
1,2,3,4, and 5. They want you to comment on the attacks, and to explain
how exactly the soldiers escaped from the airport bathrooms.”, she
said. “WHAT!?!”, screeched Lady Une.
*******************
L2 Airport 6:30 p.m.
“Thank you for flying with Ace Airlines. We hope you’ve enjoyed your
flight.”, said the captain. Thank God. It’s almost over. I can sleep now. I’m
exhausted, thought Alejandra. She waited for the people ahead of her to
move, so that she could squeeze in the aisle. “Excuse me.”, she said. The
line moved at a snail’s pace before she finally reached the tunnel that led
out to the terminal. She walked through, when suddenly her senses went on
alert. As soon as the bullets started flying, she broke into a run. Don’t they
ever give up? God!!, she thought annoyed. Then she realized that she
didn’t have the slightest clue as to where she was going.
*************
Hilde. L2 Colony. L2 Airport.
Hilde jumped as soon as she heard the gunshots. In front of her,
Alejandra broke into a wild sprint, but before she could follow, she felt a
bullet hit her. Through a haze of pain, she watched as people began
running wildly in every direction and some idiot stepped on her hand.
Suddenly, pair of hands picked her up and dragged her off to the side,
where she wouldn’t be trampled. “Quatre, they shot me!!”, she said gasping
in pain and grabbing at her heavily bleeding arm. “Don’t worry you’ll be
fine.”, he said reassuring her, as he bound the wound with a
handkerchief. “Have you seen Ms. Jupiter?”, he asked scanning the
panicking crowd. “No, she ran off, before I could stop her.”, she said gritting
her teeth. “Alright then. We’re going to have to leave without her. Rashid,
Can you carry Ms. Hilde?”, he asked. “Of course, Master Quatre.”, said
Rashid bending down to pick her up. “We’re going to have to make a run
for it. Don’t worry, Ms. Hilde, we’ll pick up your luggage later.”, said Quatre
calming her down, when she expressed her apprehension. With Rashid
plowing through the crowd, Quatre made his way to his car.

Alejandra Jupiter. L2 Colony. Trunk of car.
Realizing that she had nowhere to go, she ran to the lobby of
the airport, with Alton hot on her heels. She ducked into the passing crowd
and ran through the double doors, which led outside. Glancing behind her,
she saw that she had momentarily lost Alton. She wildly looked around for a
means of escape. Suddenly, a crazy idea came to her. She ran to a BMW,
the closest car, and pulled a pin out of her hair. She picked the lock of the
trunk and was rewarded with a loud pop, as it opened. She dived in, and
slammed it shut behind her, praying that they wouldn’t catch her.
***************
Quatre Winner. L2 Colony.
“Okay, get in.”, said Quatre, as Rashid placed Hilde inside.
Rashid then ran around to the driver’s seat and got inside. He gunned the
engine, and sped out of the parking lot. Quatre glanced through the
backseat window and saw that the soldiers had just pulled a driver out of his
car and gotten in. To his surprise, they then began to give chase. A bullet
hit the glass, and Quatre ducked, as he was showered by broken
glass. “Rashid, drive faster, and head towards the Preventers
Headquarters!” yelled Quatre. Suddenly, an idea came to Hilde. “Quatre, I
have Ms. Jupiter’s cell phone number!! I can call her and find out if she’s
okay!”, said Hilde, as she pulled out the number and dialed.
*****************
Alejandra Jupiter/Hilde. L2 Colony. Trunk of car/ Backseat of car.
Alejandra heard a buzzing sound coming from her purse. It took
a moment for it to register in her mind, and she then realized it was her cell
phone. Who in the world would call me at a time like this!!, she thought
wildly. She unzipped her purse and answered. “Hello!!??!!”, she said. “This
is Hilde! Where are you? Are you okay? What happened!!”, said Hilde, wild
with worry. Alejandra sighed, how was she going to explain this one? “Hilde,
calm down. I’m fine.”, she said stalling. “Where are you?!!?”, asked Hilde
wildly. “Umm. This might sound odd, but…”, replied Alejandra
pausing. “But??!!!”, repeated Hilde. “I’m in the trunk of a car.”, said
Alejandra. She knew what was coming next, so she held the phone away
from her ear. “WWHHAAATT??!!”, screamed Hilde. “What! What is it? Where
is she?”, asked Quatre. “Oh my God. Lady Une is going to kill me!! Quatre,
she’s in the trunk of a car!!! She’s not in a car; she’s in the trunk of a car!!
I was supposed to watch her and she ends up in the trunk of a car!!”, said
Hilde hysterically. “Let me talk her.”, said Quatre. “Hello? Ms. Jupiter? This
is Quatre Winner speaking. Hello? Hello?”, said Quatre. He handed the
phone back. “She hung up!”, he said in an offended tone.
******************
Alejandra Jupiter. L2 Colony. Trunk of car.
“Quatre Winner? Yeah right. My right foot. Quatre Winner.
First Lady Une, then the trunk of a car, and now Quatre Winner. I can’t
handle this. I’m going to go crazy. Hello?”, she snapped answering her
phone again. “Hello? Ms. Jupiter? This is Quatre Winner again. Do you know
to whom the car belongs? Can you give me a description?”, he said. Do I
know what?!! How the hell I am supposed to know who the damn car
belongs to? Do I look like know? I’m in the goddamn trunk of a car!!! And
I’m getting shot at! And you’re asking me, if I know who the car belongs
to? Are you out of your mind? As soon as I get out of this mess, I’m going
to give you and your superior a piece of my mind!! Whoever the hell trained
you did a sorry job!! Asking stupid questions!! I mean honestly! I just
jumped in the goddamn trunk!! What are you going to ask me for next, the
license plate number?, thought Alejandra angrily. “Hello, Ms. Jupiter?”, said
Quatre. “Oh, I’m sorry Mr. Winner, I’m afraid I just have no idea.”, said
Alejandra trying desperately to keep the sarcasm out of her tone. “Alright
then, try not to panic. I’ll contact Lady Une and you’ll get out of this horrible
mess.”, said Quatre soothingly. “Yeah, Uh-huh. Sure. I’ll keep calm. No
problem.”, said Alejandra sarcastically, hanging up.
******************
Quatre Winner. L2 Colony.
Rashid raced through the streets, and he crashed through the
guard gate of the Preventers’ Headquarters. Right behind him was Alton,
driving like a maniac. Then Rashid hit the first speed bump.
****************
Alejandra Jupiter. L2 Colony. Trunk of car.
Holy crap!! What the hell was that!!!, thought Alejandra, as she was thrown
violently into the air. Suddenly, her head was banged painfully against the
trunk of the car. Ow, that really hurt!! Who the hell is driving this thing!!!!,
she thought seeing stars. Without warning her head, crashed against the
trunk again, and she was knocked unconscious.
