The Pain within part 5
A low growling sound awoke her from her sweet dream. She frowned deaply, she didn't want to get up yet.
She turned around in her hard bed and tried to get to sleep once more.
But yet again, somebody growled.
"No Heero I don't want to get up yet!" She said still half asleep.
When for the third time somebody growled she notted that Heero never growled so low and animal like.
She slowely opened one eye and whas shocked to find she was no longer in her bedroom. She shot up and hit her head against something very hard. She bounched back and rubbed her forehead. "Autsh!" She shouted.
When the pain subsided a bit she opened her eyes once more to spot her attacker and found nothing else but a big branch. She stared at the strange thing and wondered how it got there.
Then slowely she woke up more and remembered everything. She frowed once more and whas actually hopeing to go back to the illusion that she was in her room.
The low groweling sound brought her back to reality and Relena decided to look over the edge of her selfmade "home".
What she saw was a beautifull creature at the bottom of the tree. The large animal was pushing it's claws in the tree and tried to climb up.
Relena studied the animal and tried to figure out what it was. The animal whas the size of a outgrown tiger, but did not have any stripes.
The creature was black and had a few tiny white spots on his back and head. The tip of it's long fluffy tail whas also white.
The thing that amazed Relena the most were it's eyes, they were beautifull in one word. A mixture of colors swirled through them and almost hipnotized Relena.
The large animal stared into Relena's eyes and made a hard growling sound. Relena whas astounded of the creature's ability to produce such a loud noice. It hurt her ears more than an elefant could. 'What in God's name is that creature?!' She asked herself.
The animal opened his big mouth and showed her his fangs witch gave her chills. Relena grabbed both her arms and shook for a moment. The creatures fangs were hugh!
Relena put her knees under her chin and kept looking at the creature. "Shoe! Go Away!" She hissed towards the animal. She waved her hand towards it and suddenly it jumped up to grab her hand. Luckely for Relena it missed by an inch. She moved herself further away from the edge.
Once again the creature made that horrible noice, and Relena covered her ears.
After an hour or so, the creature had stopped trying to get in the tree and had decided to wait for Relena to come out. It lay at the bottom of the tree patiantly.
Relena as well whas waiting for the damn animal to go away. She cursed under her breath.
The hours were passing by and still Relena did not move from her spot. The animal now started to walk around the tree and sometimes tried to get up once more.
Relena, who had named the creature "Black Demon", still did not move. She hoped that if she didn't show herself the creature would believe he had missed her leaving and leave. But for now both the creature and Relena's patiance were being tested. It whas just a matter of time until one of them gave up, and Relena whas not planning to be that one.
A low grumbeling sounds warned Relena that the creature whas still there, when the sound whas once more produced she found out that it whas not the creature who made that sound, but it seemed to be her stomach.
'I haven't eaten for a long time. God I'm hungry.'
She started to look around for easy food, but all she saw whas a small apple tree near her tree. But she would have to get down, and then she probably would not even enjoy the apples since that beast would be chewing on her.
Relena sighed and layed down. She stared upwards, but didn't see anything interesting. Then very loud pieping noices made Relena jump. She looked down and saw yet another strange creature, that strangely resembled a horse, fighting with the "Black Demon" and it whas loosing, BADLY!
Relena already liked the horse creature and whas actually cheering for it.
The horse creature trowing it hooves in the air, impressing the "Black Demon". The horse the turned around and kicked the demon square in the face. Which made it run off with it's tail between it's legs.
Relena's face lit up with the brightest smile it the world and she finally whas able to get down.
But once her feet touched the ground she noted that the horse-like creature whas even larger than it looked. And it whas standing just a few feet away. It could easely kill her.
But it just stood there, looking at her. And Relena took the time to study this amazing creature.
It's purely white furr looked almost like it had tiny diamonds in it, it sparkeled and shined even now the sun whas setting.
It's mane and tail were incredibully long, it looked like a gold veil.
It's head whas that of a normal horse only a small blue star graced it's forehead. Relena looked into the creatures eyes and saw the ocean. Waves off pure blue pulled her in and made her drown in the kindness and gentleness they shone.
Relena relaxed a great deal when she saw that it whas not going to hurt her.
The creature took a step in her direction, and Relena inmediatly notted that it whas limping. The poor creature whas not able to stand on it's back left leg. It slowely came closer, and then only a feet away it collapsed.
Relena kneeled down and inmediately looked at it's leg.
A large cut whas clearely fisible. 'Black Demon must have done that.' She said to herself.
Relena tore a piece of her skirt and wound it arounds the creatures leg. At least now the bleeding would stop.
It whas also clearely fisible that it whas a "he". She blushed and got up from her unconvertable position.
She then moved towards the apple tree and grabbed at least 10 apples.
When she once more sat down besides the creature she gave him an apple and he nearly ate her hand with it.
Relena giggled softly at gave it another apple, and another, and another. When only one apple whas left he refused another. "You must have been very hungry." Relena said while taking a bite from the apple.
The creature made a deap sighing sound.
"Don't worry, I'll take care of you for a little while. After all, you won't be walking with that leg for a few days."
Relena trew away her apple and leaned against the creatures belly.
The soft and slow rithem of it's breathing whas relaxing and nearly lulled her to sleep. "You know if were going to become friends, you'll need a name." She said almost loosing her battle against sleep. "I know, I'll call you 'Chance', because you gave me a second one." Relena jawned and finally let go of reality and let the dreamworld get hold of her.
A few hours later Relena woke up. This time she remembered where she was and what had happened. It whas now the second day she whas in these woods, but she wasn't lonely anymore.
She moved her hand from side to side but found nothing but emptyness. She opened her eyes and looked for her new found friend. But he was not there. "Chance!" She shouted while getting up.
She looked around but the beautifull horse whas nowhere to be found.
Saddened by his leaving Relena stepped towards the swamp and started washing her hands. She whas stunned to find that the water was warm, and not dirty at all. Looking around the water she found nothing and decided to give into the waters calling and take a swim.
After ridding herself of her skirt and shirt she took a dive into the water and let it touch her skin.
The feeling whas wonderfull. She had missed water, and was only now aware how dirty she was. She had not taken a bath or shower since she was captured.
After a few minutes of utter bliss, she got this feeling she whas being watched. She turned around to find Chance. A smile spread across her face.
Chance whas standing near the water and whas carrying a big clutch of banana's. "Wow, how did you get that Chance?" She asked. Chance tilted his head and dropped the banana's on the floor. He opened his mouth and....Relena whas surprised to hear the sound of a horse comming from his mouth.
Relena's eyes dropped to his back leg, the piece of skirt whas still around his leg. Chance turned around and walked towards the tree Relena had slept in yesterday. Chance whas still limping a bit, but not as much as yesterday.
Relena stepped out of the water and put on her clothes.
Relena looked at Chance suprised, why whas he standing near the tree, and with his butt towards her.
A gasp of realisation came from her mouth, and then she smiled. She did not know how he understood, but that whas not the point. "You can watch now, I'm fully dressed." At the sound of her voice, Chance once again turned towards her and lay down near the banana's.
Relena looked in his eyes, and read that he whas hungry. She sat down as well and started peeling the banana's.
When there where completely full, Relena whas starting to build another "house" but this time on the floor, so that Chance could as well shelter from things like rain.
It took her quite a while to gather enough supplies for a shelter large enough to cover both of them.
After an hour Relena trew away one of the brances. "I can't do it everytime I try everything comes apart again!" She shouted.
Chance looked up from his position near the swam and looked at her, a silent question hanging in his eyes.
"I can't do it. I'm sorry Chance, I can't get this shelter to stand."
Relena plummed to the floor and sighed heavely. She hid her head in her hands and started to think how she could do this.
Then suddenly an idea fell 'on' her head, litterly on.
Relena rubbed the back of her head and found wierd looking plants in her lap. She looked up and met the ocean blue eyes of Chance. "What are these?" She asked holding one plant up as if it whas covered in slime.
Chance would have rolled his eyes if he could and picked up one of the plants. He placed his hoove on the base of the plants and starting ripping with his teeth. The pieces of plant were neately placed on a pile and when there whas nearely nothing left of the plant, Chance stopped and pikked up a piece of the plant and handed it to Relena.
She looked at the alien object and tugged. "He! This is pretty strong, we can use this as rope!" She jumped up and hugged Change fiercefully.
After a few hours the shelter whas done and standing strong against the baase of the tree. "Tada!" Relena said proudly. "It's not much, but it'll keep us dry." Chance blew hard and walked into the shelter and layed down. "Do you like it?" She asked and once more Chance blew. "Good." She said back.
She took a deep breath and notted that it whas nearely dinner time, her stomach whas already protesting.
She walked through the bushes looking for food. She found nothing but slymy ground and jukky bugs. She felt like jumping into the swamp once more, she could feel the dirt from the jungle.
"God I want to be home, or in my cell. But not this, I'm not made for this!" She complained. She pushed some more brances from her face and saw a open spot between the trees and it had bushes of berries. 'Now I should be able to eat that!'
She filled her skirt and walked back towards the shelter to eat the jummy looking berries. Although she could not stop herself from eating some on the way.
She woke up the next morning, wind whas blowing in her ear. Actually the wind sounded really strange. Relena's eyes shot open and she met a deer face to face. Well, more forehead to nose.
The deer jumped and ran off as fast as it could.
Relena shook her head and looked around. This whas definately not her shelter. She thaught hard about how she got here. The last thing she remembered whas walking towards the shelter and eating some berries. STUPID!' She shouted in her head. 'Those were probably poisoness! You're lucky to even be alive!'
She stood up and looked around, nothing looked familiar. She didn't even know where she came from. 'O, no, I'm lost as well.'
She put her hands around her mouth and started shouting. "Chance!"
"Chance, were are you?"
After a few minutes she still did not get any responce. "Chance please answer me!"
Still nothing. Relena felt her eyes started fill with tears, but she refused to spill them. 'This is your own stupid falt! You will not cry.' She told herself.
She started to walk into the direction she whas faceing, after all, she whas still hungry and standing there would not get her stomach filled.
She walked slowely trying not to stumble over roots and other tricky things lying on the floor.
After hours of walking she finally found water and looked at herself in the reflection. Her face had cuts from the branches that swung in her face and her skirt whas torn. Her arms and legs had cuts from the thornbush she had encountered earlier.
When she looked at herself calmly something snapped, she did not care anymore that blood whas slipping down her cheak and legs, it even didn't hurt anymore.
She washed her face and stood up to look around. Nothing around her gave her a hint that there whas food until she heard a splashing sound. She turned towards the water to catch a glimbs of a fish.
She grinned and stepped into the water.
When it reached knee highth she stopped and stood perfectly still.
Without even the slightest clue her arm slashed into the water and came up fish in hand. 'I guess I'll have fish tonight.' She thaught to herself and slowely walked towards solid ground.
She didn't even think about how she caught the fish, she wasn't even gratefull. She didn't feel anything anymore, she was lost.

Cool chapter! Black Demon, Chance and then deer...cute.
Relena is a fighter, alright. She is doing well in the game of survival, but the alien tendencies that were injected into her genetic composition seem to be surfacing...
Looking forward to the next installment, StormWind.

This is definately getting deep for Relena. 10-1 says that Heero will not be able to recognise her at first due to the changes in her behavor patterns.
Me thinks that the enviroment is native to that alien organism. An M class planet (Earth like) certainly but definately nowhere on Earth.
Idea: Have Heero run into Gaia first before Relena. Of course you'll need to come up with a visual discription of her since Relena has only spoken to her and not accually seen her.
