Challenges, Drabbles, Extraneous forums, etc.

We seem to be getting a lot of challenges lately issued by members, and that's GREAT. But they seem to be taking up fic-posting space in the Heero x Relena forum, and I've had it proposed that maybe they should be located to a separate challenges forum.

Also, Drabbles seem to be more like excercises, to practice writing. What do people think of moving the Drabbles to the First Aid for Writers section?

Do we even like that forum? Or should I get rid of it?

What do people think about movie fanfiction? i have to say I'm opposed to book fanfiction, and Harry Potter falls into that category - the author doesn't want fanfiction written about her characters, so I won't host it - sorry HP fans. But HP aside... Pirates of the Carribean fanfiction anyone?

While the First Aid forum is a nice thing to have around for some, I think the only way to actually get better at writing is to actually do it, learning from mistakes and heeding the advice of others through review, beta, and whatnot.

I'd say move drabbles, despite their popularity and the enjoyment they bring to a fair share of members, to another forum. They do seem to be taking up more space than the normal ficcage this site tries to promote.

Also, if possible make a Challenge forum as they too are beginning to take up more and more space. Though if you included the drabbles in the challenge forum that might be nifty. Both forms of writing are in a way a challenge and learning experience so maybe we can let those two have their happy, or angsty time togther. ^___^

Movie fanfiction? Well we did flirt with a GW version of LotR...Trowa as Legolas...in a fedora. ^________^ Okay maybe not a fedora but whatever.

Anyway I suppose a movie fanfiction forum is workable I suppose so long as it doesn't detract from your main goal here at BI Rose.

So, in the end, my vote goes to: Challenge/Drabble Forum, ditch First Aid for Writers despite the good intentions, and if needed add the Movie forum.

Okay there's my two cents. Now I'm really broker than broke. Now I need to go to bed and dream of Trowa in a fedora.

I agree with Wicked, except that I like the First Aid for Writers forum. As for the Challenge/Drabble forum, will it just be one forum, or two? It will be messy. Too messy. I don't know. But... please... DON'T take down the FAFW forum!!

And personally, I don't consider Drabbles as challenges... I don't like them too much, but they do distract readers from real fics. As for the Movie forum, I LOVE it. I would love to see that forum and its future posts!! *rubs hands together* Ooh, the thrill!!

Yes! A challenge forum. And yes please move the drabbles to the First Aid section - they seem to be a great exercise for writers. And Amen to movie fanfic - I want to see Johnny Depp shirtless. Mmmmm...

everybody seems to be against drabbles around here... i like being able to get some instant gratification when perusing thru the fic category and reading the drabbles... it's a kind of pick me up after u've read a long fic that jus doesn't do it for ya...

also for the challenge forum...would that be only for issuing the challenges or would the replies be posted there as well?

I like the drabbles, but I wouldn't mind seeing them and challenges put into a different forum. I see drabbles a a sort of challenge myself, and so they could very well all go in the same forum.

I'm hooked on the drabbles... and I absolutely love them... but if you did make a challenge forum and posted the drabbles in there--- couldn't they get mixed up in with a lot of the challenges as they also get mixed up a lot in the main GW fanfiction around here.

I like them where they are and enjoy writing and reading them. And as for the movie forum... I want to say yes and no to that.... as it would be intersting to see people write fanfics with??? anime characters as substitution?? I'm not sure of how you want it... and uhm... although I haven't used first aid for writers in a while... I think it nice for those who need help as where else would they post for help?

I'd like a different forum for drabbles and excercises and the like... somehow they should be separated out. Though I don't think they would fit in with the first aid forum, mainly because I don't think people are using them to improve their writing so much as take a break from larger projects. (Or at least that's how I use them.)

I feel so guilty posting something so small in the regular forums, especially when I don't feel it is worth it to put it in my forum.

So, yes, separate them somehow, please!

I think I voted anyway....but I have no pukkin' idea what I voted for...

I think the challanges and the drabbles need to leave and or flee the fanfic showcase. I do. Put them wherever. I don't care. Officially ban them from the showcase area. Not that I dislike them at all...I just want to see straight up originals where they should be, and I really agree with you; they are like practice fics.

So...there's my two cents.

And here's a dime for good measure.
