A.N.-Hey! Naoko here! *huggles* This is a SNEAK PEEK of my newest fanfiction, Serendipity. It's based on a movie (which I do not own) by the same name. I'm going to post the rest when I get a beta-reader...which I somehow cannot get...Well, anyway, enjoy!
Author: Naoko
Title: Seredipity
Pairings: HYxRP and a teensy bit of DMxHS later on
Dsiclaimer: I don't own Gundam Wing or Serendipity. BTW, their dialogue aren't exactly the same as they had it in the movie, b/c I really don't like copying...
Serendipity
?...If we will have to live in harmony with the universe, we must all possess a powerful fathom...[that] we currently refer to as destiny.?
It was five days before Christmas, and chaos reigned in shopping malls. Screaming, yelling, pushing crowds savagely fought over that last box of fruitcake they?d use for doorstoppers after New Year?s anyway. After getting jostled and shoved for the thousandth time, Heero was really quite ready to give up and go home.
?But I still don?t have a gift for Hikari,? Heero thought, sighing, his older sister on his mind. Besides the fact that she was twenty and two full years older than he was didn?t help the other fact that she was a woman, and everyone on this planet knew guys can?t shop for women.
Steering carefully away from the women?s Lingerie, he headed off for Accessories and stared down blankly at the leopard print hats and scarves. Suddenly, a great big hulking man bumped into him from behind, sending Heero hurling forward into a rack of leather winter jackets (that were way beyond his budget besides). Gritting his teeth, he counted to ten and took a deep breath.
?Eenee, meenee,? he muttered under his breath as he turned slowly on the spot, ?mynee...MO!?
Several people turned their heads at his outburst, but he ignored them and strode purposefully to a display rack where a single, perfect little pair of black cashmere gloves swung happily for all to see...

Relena sighed happily, her cheeks red from the cold and her hair in a disarray. She admired the bright, hanging lights suspended from the mall?s high ceiling, and the strings of garland and holly twisting around the thick white columns. The mall was crowded, but that was expected. The only problem was that stock was limited and Relena didn?t want all the ?good stuff? to run out. She hurried quickly through the crowd, yelling an occasional ?I?m sorry!!!?
She just had to get her best friend Hilde another gift! Everyone else thought that that the black scarf and that cute little hat was enough, but Relena decided to get her best friend something a little more. Maybe a pair of gloves. Cashmere? Oh yes.
?Excuse me, where are your gloves?? she asked an employee breathlessly, a hand shooting out to grab him around the wrist.
?Excuse me?? the man sniffed, pulling his arm away quickly. He looked her up and down through his thick spectacles as if she was made of filth, and pompously stated, ?In the pocket of my coat, which is hanging in closet in a room marked ?Employees Only.??
Relena resisted the urge to roll her eyes. It was Christmas after all...
?No, sir, I meant where are the gloves that this store is selling??
?Accessories,? he answered, and with that, the man turned on his heel and marched away.
?Oh, and can you please tell me where--oh, never mind,? Relena sighed. She stood in one spot and slowly pivoted on her heel, biting her lip. ?I?ll go...this way!?
And off she marched.
Miraculously, she made it to Accessories without getting so much as a wrong turn, and her bright violet eyes managed to pick out a rack of multi-colored cashmere gloves. Relena brightened as she spotted a black pair that matched Hilde?s hat and scarf.
?Perfect!? she said happily, and stepped carefully towards the gloves.
As the tip of her fingers touched it, a different, darker hand shot out and grazed her own. In a single, millisecond moment Relena suddenly felt a jolt of electricity that warmed her heart, something she had never felt before.
She jerked her hand away to her chest and looked up. ?Oh! I?m so sorry, I didn?t see--?
?I didn?t know--? said the other, his voice blending simultaneously with hers.
Relena looked up into the young man?s eyes, which were deep, mysterious pools of Prussian blue, and suddenly, it was as if the universe existed for no one but her and this handsome stranger...
?I?m sorry,? she heard him say vaguely as he closed his hand around the pair of gloves and stretched out his arm to offer them to her. ?These are yours.?
?No, no,? she murmured. ?Have them, please...?
?No, I insist,? the man said, shaking his head. ?They must be for a boyfriend. You do have a boyfriend, right??
?Yes,? Relena said absently, answering him when she didn?t fully know what he had asked.
?Oh.? the man?s face fell slightly. ?Right. Well. Really, have them. Please. It?s Christmas.?
Relena reached for the gloves, her fingers softly brushing his. ?T-thank you.?
The man stared at her for a moment, his eyes twinkling and intense. ?Would you like to get a cup of coffee with me? Or...or hot chocolate, maybe? Anything you?d like.?
Relena blushed and tilted her head to the side, looking up at him. ?I?d love that,? she murmured shyly.
The dark, handsome stranger smiled at her, and she almost melted at his feet.

?So, how did you come by this place?? Heero asked, tearing his eyes away from her perfect, angelic face to stare at the enormous latte in front of him.
?Oh,? the girl said softly, her voice rivaling the bells of heaven itself. ?I liked the name. Serendipity. It?s always been one of my favorite words. It means fate, or destiny.?
?Really,? Heero said, his eyebrow arching. ?You mean where our lives are completely paved out in front of us, and we don?t make any choices in the matter at all??
?Well,? the girl thoughtfully said, ?no, not exactly. We still make choices, but each choice leads towards the end of the same path.?
?You really believe in that stuff??
The girl smiled at Heero, and he felt as if he was the happiest man alive. ?Yes,? she murmured. ?I do.?
Heero stared at her for a moment, his longing gaze dropping from her eyes to her luscious pink lips. He wondered, vaguely, how it would feel to kiss her. Just once. Just once...
?Well, it?s getting late,? the angel said, raising her watch to her eyes. ?I have to go.? She looked up at him, and her voice almost seemed torn, hesitant. ?Thank you. For letting me have the gloves. ?
?Sure. Or else I wouldn?t get the free latte.? Heero laughed then, though his smile didn?t quite reach his eyes. He couldn?t possibly let her go...
She giggled, and began to stand up. ?It was the least I can do,? she murmured.
Heero pulled on his jacket, his eyes never leaving hers as she silently twisted her red scarf around her slender neck. He led her out the door, forcing his mind to think of a plan to stop her from leaving.
?Hey,? he said suddenly, ?aren?t you gonna tell me your name? It?s not everyday that I fall in love with someone else?s girlfriend.?
The girl?s stride slowed a moment, and she glanced at him shyly from the corner of her eyes. A deep, deep blush that Heero was beginning to get used to seeing formed at her cheeks, and he saw a faint smile tugging at her mouth.
?We-e-ell,? she said slowly, ?if we were truly meant to be together, we would see each other again.?
?Oh, come on!? Heero cried. ?My name is Heero. Doesn?t that make you want to tell me something? Like, maybe your name??
She stepped onto the street and raised a slender hand, hailing a taxi. Almost instantly, a fluorescent cab screeched to an abrupt halt in front of her. She avoided his eyes as she opened the cab door, and Heero could do nothing but stare as she neatly stepped into the yellow vehicle. Then suddenly, she froze, and Heero felt hope rise within him. She turned her head to gaze at him softly, her wheat-colored hair brushing across her face. Almost sadly, she whispered, ?Thank you, Heero, for everything. Good bye.?
And without another word, she was gone.

The most valuable creatures I know are those artists whose medium is life itself.
The ones who express the inexpressible?without brush, hammer, clay, or guitar.
They neither paint nor sculpt?their medium is being.
Whatever their presence touches has increased life.
They see and don?t have to draw.
They are artists of being alive.
