Troubles in html land. . .

Post by AngelOfDeath »

Ok. I feel like one of the most web impaired people alive. . .

I can't seem to figure out how to make htm files so that I can attach chapter onto my posts.

I have realized at this point that doc files won't work as attachments, much to my chagrin, but I tried not to let that phase me. So I set out trying to figure out how to make htm files by asking people and in general looking at guides online.

So, I can find out how to technically produce some of it, but ultimately I am still very confused. What program do I use? Is there any way to convert something from doc directly to htm?

Please someone help me, I've been trying to figure this out in my spare (ha) time for a few weeks and it just isn't hitting me like an apple from the sky.

Thanks,

AOD

Okay, if you can make .doc files, you can make .htm files. Do you have Microsoft Word?

Yes, I have MS Word. Is it just under help somewhere?

I searched and it just talks about making web pages. (Stupid paperclip.)

Ok, in MS word, bring up your .doc file. Click on File at the top left corner, then choose Save As.. in the drop-down menu. The Save As dialogue box will appear on screen.

At the bottom, you will see the File Name text box, and directly underneath it, there will be the 'Save as type' drop down menu. Click the arrow key, and choose "Web Page". The Change Title button will appear above the File Name text box. Click the Change Title button if you'd like to give your page a title that will appear at the top of the internet explorer window like Blissful Ignorance -- View topic - Troubles in html land . . . appears at the top of this window.

Type the desired name of the file in the File Name text box and choose the Save button. This will save your file as a .htm

^___^

If you're still having problems/questions, just let me know.

Wow.

Apparently I make everything in existence much more difficult than it needs to be. (I was halfway to just forgetting about this until I learned html. . . )

:salute: Thanks, now I can do some joyous posting. Excellent. You're the best rose! (Now I'll start on those lemons for February...)
