Brian dremed. Or at least he thought he was dreming. Strange dreams all with fire! FIRE!!!!!
"AHH..." Brian screamed and sat straight up in bed. He looked down and noticed his hands were bound in healing cloths. And a strange black dog was nuzzled at his feet.
"It wasn't a dream." He thought. The dog stired and looked into Brians eyes.
"Of course not silly." A voice said in his head. Brian blinked and brought his knees to his chest.
"You can talk? Wait who are you and what do you want?"
"I told you that already but if you must know again I am Areo't the Bronze. Yes, a dragon and you are my choosen Brian of Karnith ."
Brian sat back and thought, "So you can mindspeak with me too?"
"Yes and much more. I will teach you many more things. But the first is how to se your Fire gift!"
"Me with a fire gift. There hasn't been one in this land for generations," he said outloud, remembering his history. "But why me," He thought.
"The gods choose you Brian, and you can't change what they want. It's time there was a proper ruler here and you will be able do make that happen. Not right away of course but someday. No more questions for now. Only this: Now that you have this power I will have to take you away from this place. News of this will bring you many people who will support you and many enimies who don't wish to give their power up."
Brian was going to ask another question on how Areo't found him but a knock sounded at the door and his school master came in.
"Ah awake now are you. Thats good to know." The school master walked over and went to sit on the edge of the bed when Areo't snarled showing his sharp gleaming teeth. Brian suppresed a grin as the old man jumped back. "Nasty little fellow isn't he?" Thinking twice he grabbed for the chair instead. Brian was going to tell hi that is was Areo't....
"Don't tell him. He isn't to be trusted. He already went and informed the higher command about you." Areo't mind spoke to him.
"BUt why? And how do you know that already?"
"Don't worry about that for now. Your mother has already told him that you have had a dog for a little while now. If he says anything about where I am don't answer that. HE won't harm me but it's you they all want."
"So Brian, I came to see how you are and let you know hpw impressed I am of what you...um.... I mean to say..."
"It's alright master. I am honored to have this and a visit by you as well." Brian said as sincereley as he could.
" By the way where is your dragon?" the master inquired.
"I really don't know right now master. Why?"
"Um..just wanted to know wel I better get going. I'm sure you'll be up and about soon. Sense ad all you won't be going back to the school again...." With that unsaid sentence he left closing the door.
"Areo't why did he mention about me not going back?" Brian mindspoke.
"Because young one, you are with me and I take and teach you as you grow with me. He also knows that and that there will be trouble starting soon. We must leave tonight. Yo will be fina as long as you are with me."
"What abotu mother?"
She'll be fine and out of trouble. We won't be telling her when we go but she already knows you can't stay here. She is already prepared and won't bw here the rest of the day."
"But where are we going to go?" Brian lifted his arm up and put it on Areo't's head.
" We are going to my home in Zarnith!"
"The dragon homeland!!!!! But no human has been there!"
"You have that wrong. The last human there was the last fire wizard! I will be taking you there to teach and train you with the other dragons until it's time for us."
Dumbfounded, Brian could only think of what it looked like and his new life ahead of him. "How did you know it was me Areo't? And where to find me?"
"I knew the first day you were born. But I had to be patient and wait till you were ready. Wait for your power to awaken. Your power is connected with me, thats how I found you." Areo't yawned and priked his ears up.
"What is it?" Brian spoke out loud.
"Time to go. Their early. We must go now choosen" Areo't jumped off the bed and jumped out the window.
Brian stumblled out of bed and went to the corner of the room grabbing his blue cloak, and rushed putting oin his trousers and slightly stained shirt. Grabbing his shoes he hopped out the door and there if front of him was areo't in his dragon form. he looked like a statue that shown is the sparkling light with bright blue eyes and magnificent wings. He was taller then a four-storie building and a bit scary with the deadly claws and teeth not to mention fire he could use if he wanted.
"Get on now." Brian heard the soliders not too far off in the distance and didn't object. He climbed on Areo't and they flew off hearing the yelling soliders in anguish as they missed their prey.
Brian took one glance back at his home and knew he wasn't going to see it again for a very long time.
"So it begins." Brian said outloud truning his head foward again.
"Yes is does choosen but your not alone. We're in this together." Areo't replied as the last of Brians old life vanished in the clouds and a new life appeared for him in the distant lands.
