I've been beta reading for a while now, and would be interested in taking on the work of any authors looking to improve the standard of their writing. I am not at all picky about pairings, but I only want to beta serious fics written in-character, and preferably not too plot-driven. I don't like gratuitous NCS, violence, etc. and I don't like precipitant spoutings of 'I love you' or any variations there on. If you don't want to write something naturalistic, I'm not interested. If you do, I'll probably be pretty enthusiastic.
My strong points are language and style, but I am fairly confident of my ability to offer constructive comments in all areas, as well as, of course, checking basics such as grammar and spelling.
Please note, I don't know any fandoms other than GW, and I can be pretty harsh on occasion, although, naturally, I do also look for (and praise) good points in a story -- I am not looking to tell anyone that their work is terrible, or any such thing; only to be of use where possible.
Also, I am rather fastidious about what I will beta read in the first place, so if you are interested, please send a sample to l2psyche00 @ aol.com so that I can decide whether or not I am interested. ^^
Very much looking forward to hearing from you!

Beta reader considering taking on more fics
I'm probably going to regret this, but your offer won't leave me alone.
After a rather lengthy hiatus, I'm slowly worming my way back into the fanfiction community. My writing skills are rusty, and I'm probably sure I could do with some good advice. I'm been told that my work is excellent, but it seems that those are the only comments I receive (besides 'write faster, dammit'). Although I don't mind hearing that (who does?), what I really need is someone to give me some really useful constructive criticism.
I've never had a beta-reader before (does Ley count?) but I'm willing to give it a shot. I don't promise to use all of your advice, but I do promise that no matter what you say, I won't take offense (at least, I'll try really hard not to), and to listen with an open mind.
You said that you're picky, so I thought it best to describe my work first to see if you would even be willing to read it.
It's a Gundam Wing fic, 1xR, and it's AU, therefore, slightly OOC. Frankly, what I'm gonna send you is a lemon. They don't spout 'I love you' every other sentence, but it IS a romance fic. It does get semi-mushy, but hopefully not barfy.
It's an excerpt from a longer story, so perhaps not everything will make sense, but I don't think that knowledge of that other fic is needed to enjoy it.
I suppose what I'm really looking for is help saying what I want to say, only in a different way (aka: better). I've always been reluctant editing out my work, therefore, I think it's a bit repetitive. Thesauruses don't help, but perhaps you will. My other weak point (at least to myself) is my useage of commas. They're all over the place, and I can't seem to get rid of them. *blah*
Please tell me if you are open to reading lemons. I didn't want to offend you with such material if you were sensitive to them.
Thanks a lot.

It took awhile, but when their number dwindled from 50 to 8, the other dwarves began to suspect Hungry.

Just wondering (because this is an old post) if your offer still stands, and if you would be willing to beta anything that is out of the GW fandom. I'm sure I'll be able to find someone else to look into characterisation for me, but right now, language is my priority.
