Questions about authors...

Hey, I have this lil question...


What authors have told Blissful that they don't want any of their stories turned into fanfictions or stories, AU, etc.? :-?

Besides JK Rowling that is...

Because I want to know in advanced if a certain author doesn't like their stories used...

So you don't have to lock the story if I did post one.

I'd really appreciate it...

Hi. Well actually, is not only on BI, but anywhere on the Net. These following authors have clearly stated that they don't want any kind of writing based on their books.

Anne McCaffrey
Raymond Feist
Robin McKinley
Laurell K. Hamilton
Nora Roberts/J.D. Robb
Irene Radford
P.N. Elrod

I don't know of any others, but I suspect Rose does.

Typically speaking, this website is not going to host "contemporary book fanfiction". In other words, if the characters exist only in the written word and/or by contemporary authors (aka still alive) and/or writing an ongoing series, we're not going to host it. So, Harry Potter is out. The series is primarily a written work by a contemporary author writing a series that isn't finished yet. Anne Rice, Anne McCaffrey and the above mentioned authors are contemporary, living authors - none of their works will be hosted here.

Book characters in "the public record", like Shakespeare, Dickens, Jane Austen, these are acceptable because fanfiction is no infringing on their rights in a way that could financially damage the authors or their estates.

I have had it pointed out to me that all fanfiction is illegal, so for me to "split hairs" over this is pointless. But as an aspiring author myself, I feel like we can and should respect the works/rights of other authors and not host book fanfiction.
