Chapter 2

I?ve read in many places that in darkness does exist the light.

Is that so?

With each passing day, it gets warmer; while within the hearts of those acquainted, it gets colder and colder, surpassing the freezing point. But in scientific terms, there is nothing beyond the point. It just gets colder.

But this isn?t science.

In front of me stands a being whose point of origin no longer exists. Brought here by the winds of the universe and nurtured by the mother earth, I thought once that humans were wonderful creatures. Well they are: wonderful yet disgusting; na?ve, yet strong; easily manipulative and greedy; delicate and yet so destructive. They destroy everything they create.

I?ve looked to the heavens many times; I?ve traveled back to the never ending darkness many times and have been bathed in the light that does exist there. Home. I?ve looked down on earth and asked if they deserve such blessing from the heavens above? Or, from the earth, do they deserve such a sight?

I turn away from the mirror and walk to my window. The sun has yet risen from the east. It has yet set on the west. But in the start of this new day, I will make sure CHAOS is set into action.

The room is always in darkness, but wherever I go, it just seems to glow with the never shun light. I spoke to him,

?I fail to see why you have such a child doing this task at hand.?

I could feel his smile as he answered my question, ?She is very skilled. It?s hard to come across a mix of talent these days.?

?She is young and has never been in love. She will slip up soon enough and I?m pretty sure you will not allow for any mistakes.?

He rose from his seat and began to approach me. I vanished from his reach only to reappear behind him. ?I fail to see why you fear me,? he responded.

?I don?t fear you.?

He continued towards the window and placed his hands behind himself in a professional manner, ?Then why do you shy away whenever I come towards you??

?Because you want something that you cannot have.?

?Or is it that you don?t want to give it to me, Ilythia??

?No. It?s simply because you cannot have it.?

He was silent for a while. I waited for his reply to my statement. ?What do you think of the former pilots, Ilythia??

?They?re probably one of the few human beings I?ve come to favor.?

He smiled. ?I despise them. Especially Milliardo and Heero.?

?So what do those two have to do with the new development in space??

The sun began to rise, accenting his fine body with its golden light. His suit did him justice. Even through the jacket you can tell that he is diesel. The pants hung loosely not giving much detail as to how his legs look. It just left a woman to her imagination.

?That is just a cover up for what I have planned.?

?Is that so,? I replied. I didn?t need for him to go into detail. I already knew wha he wanted done. I saw it in his dreams. His unconsciousness is so permeable; it?s like a delicacy to me.

?I fail to see why you are in the presence of a human such as myself.?

?That will remain unanswered to you,? I replied. And he respected my answer. I didn?t answer to anyone but those above me, in a distant space, so very far away.

?But I will assist you in any way.? He nodded.

?Then watch Midii for me and make sure she is doing well.? I nodded and watched as he left my room to once again take on the task of being a loyal fianc? to the head of the Preventers HQ on earth.

I turned my attention to the window once more. The sun has fully risen and the day has begun. ?Why do I hang around this planet full of people?.?

A small smile crept onto my features. He may have plans of destruction as far as lives go, but my plans for destruction are far beyond that, Mr. You wait and see.


Preventers HQ- Main Lobby

?So you came.?

Midii didn?t have to turn around to know who?d spoken to her. Instead she closed her eyes to relish the soft spoken voice and the proximity of his sexiness.

?I did as I said I would.? Midii turned and was met with one green eye and a soft spoken expression. She smiled and handed him the filled out application. ?You?re a high ranking officer, in charge of the Physical Training Department, so I guess it?s okay to hand it to you.?

Midii watched as he took her application ad looked over it. ?So you did your homework,? he replied, not looking up from her application.

Midii didn?t answer his question verbally, but gave a small smile, causing Trowa to look up from his reading.

?How long do I have to wait??

?As long as it would take,? came another voice. It was Wufei.

?What position are you applying for??

?Investigation Squad,? Midii replied.

?Do you have any experience,? Wufei asked.

?Not in that area, sir, I don?t.?

?Then what use would you have to us,? he countered.

?Let?s leave that for Zechs or Lady Une to find out Wufei. I don?t recall her assigning you to interrogate our new recruits,? Trowa interrupted.

Midii merely smiled. ?Oh that?s okay Officer?? She looked at his badge to find his name, not wanting to look suspicious, ??Trowa Barton. I?m sure I would do the same thing if a rookie wanted to try-out for the big league.?

?This isn?t a game, nor is it-?

?Child?s play. That I know, Mr. Chang. That I do know. But I assure you, I will be a valuable asset to the Preventers. I do have battlefield experience.?

Wufei narrowed his eyes. ?We?re not looking for soldiers to fight in a war. We are looking for officers to assist in keeping the peace.?
Before Trowa or Midii could respond to his statement, Anthony, one of Wufei?s cadets, ran towards them, interrupting all conversation.

He saluted and then spoke, ?Lady Une wishes to have you in the main conference room on the fifth floor for. She didn?t specify as to what she will be discussing.?

Trowa and Wufei nodded, dismissing the cadet. Midii looked to Trowa, and smiled once more. ?I do hope that we meet again, preferably not on basis such as this.?

?I?ll see you on the fifth floor, Barton.? Trowa merely nodded as Wufei walked off in a bit of disgust at Midii?s advance on Trowa.

Trowa smiled at Midii?s request. ?I?m sure that can be arranged.?

?Well, my phone numbers are on that application. Just give me a call.?

?I?ll pick you up at eight.?

Midii?s smile widened as she turned to leave. So far as she can tell, things were going well.

As she existed the building, a strong rush of fear came over her as she looked around to find where the source was. Her eyes stopped on a light skinned woman that made her way towards the building. The woman?s hair was pilled on the top of her head into a fancy and neat bun, the color of jet black and her eyes were dark brown. Midii narrowed her eyes to get a good look at the woman as she approached. ?She looks familiar??

Her gray blazer and thigh length skirt made her look dangerously professional. With her suitcase by her side and her glasses around her neck, her eyes were set on Midii as she came to a halt before the massive building. Right then and there, it clicked in Midii?s mind.

?Ilythia.?

Ilythia slowly made her way towards Midii, giving her a bone chilling smile. For some apparent reason Midii couldn?t look into the woman before her. All she could see was the fa?ade that Ilythia has produced for the people of this earth, including herself. It made Midii uncomfortable that see couldn?t see into anyone, but that someone was able to so easily look into her. It scared her. Ilythia scared her, and the damned woman knew it.

As Ilythia began to pass Midii to walk into the building, Midii notice that time seemed to slow around them. She knew it was Ilythia?s doing. ?Don?t waste something you have no control over.? With that said, all that was around the two continued to go on as if nothing happened. Midii looked back to find that Ilythia somehow vanished inside the building.
?So she changed her hair and eye color. I wonder what business she has with the Preventer?s.?

?Don?t ponder on it??

Midii shivered at the mention of Ilythia?s voice in her head as she hurried off to continue her assignment. She wasn?t sure if having this strange woman around was good for the whole purpose of this plan in general, or for the people of earth. Something just didn?t fit right whenever she was around.
