Here's the second fic I swore I wouldn't write... right? This is the prologue, with a tentative title, as I throw stuff out of my head. ^__^
*
Hopeless, that which is lacking in hope. Pointless. Puzzling. Slamming one?s head against a brick wall. It all boils down to one word: WHY?! Idiotic.
I have a story to tell. Granted, it is not solely *my* story to tell, but if our lives were a cookie, my role in things would be sandwiched in the middle. The icing in the oreo, if you will, the raisin kicking for my place beside the nuts in the world of bland oatmeal.
So who am I to call my friends, compatriots, headaches, and classmates, nuts? The comparison is not entirely superficial, or name related, I confess, but I?ll try to give you an idea of what I?m talking about. Me, Ms. Raisin, the dried shell of something sweeter and larger, but not wholly wrong or unattractive (and modest!). Just an honest hardworking raisin, schooled in the art of trying to make myself a larger raisin. You may call me Kaname. Try to make too many names out of that, and you will feel my wrath. You think I?m kidding. Don?t try me.
The nut in my friend category is Kyouko. She is not your typical nut. A nut worthy of the tag crazy, yes, but more like a honey glazed nut. Not that that sweetness masks any of the craziness mind you, but to be familiar with a honey glazed nut is to know you can?t have one without the other. She mystifies me, and keep me sane all at the same time. Who could ask for more than that? We won?t get into her frustrating habits... You wouldn?t be here if you didn?t know that much already after all. Needless to say I see pink spots in my sleep. Her personal nut falls into the category of classmate/friend, but we?ll get into that later.
My nut, and it pains me to attach a possessive term to him, lies closer to headache. Find something that exemplifies confusion, any thing, and swap it with Sousuke, and there you go. You understand me perfectly. World problems, fine, school troubles, fine, Sousuke Sagara... my stress levels hike at the name. Of course I say that, and I don?t lie, per se, but it?s possible the severity of said stress is exaggerated. The confusion stands as mentioned. I just don?t *get* him. You would think he?d be easy to understand, a one note wonder, a model of simplicity. For all his little intricacies he might as well be a flower, except his hard shell which is much more nut like than anything else. As much as I?d like to crack him, part of me likes to crow that certainly I?ve come close (not that he didn?t deserve it). He came here because of me, so to claim responsibility should be on my shoulders. I don?t have to like it. Do I?

"We seem dead set on turning ourselves into little monsters, don't we? Wonder why that is? It's all the rage all of a sudden. And all of us, is sooo busy running around, trying to beat each other to the finish line that no one notices the big sign from God that says : Stop-Messing-with-my-Stuff." Nice!
Of course, I love the calling Kyouko a nut, but "not your typical nut. A nut worthy of the tag crazy."
Heh. I've always said Kyouko's a freak, but in a good way. I find it cool how you conveyed that thru Kaname's words.
And stuff
Edit: Oh and whereever did you come up with the title?

Kinda makes me wanna nut right now. Very amusing and creative way of doing character profiles and analysis. It's definetly a good start and an excellent demonstration of your talents as an author, and I do expect very many creative literary tricks and tactics in this story now that you've given us a taste. Hmmmm honey glazed nut....

Great job! I love your writing style. Very creative use of food products as analogies. I'm impressed. Keep it up!
