Disclaimer: Gah--- X_X I DON?T OWN THEM ::cry:: and I never will, but that won?t stop me from trying to steal them--- (enter evil laugh here!!!!) Kukuku?.

Last Chapter: Oh! Inuyasha is fighting and Kagome is getting on a plane. How very exciting! Kagome surviving the car ride with Miroku has a panic attack as she draws nearer to the plane. A few passengers adding her to their hit list as she annoys them with her hyperventilating, but there free of her as she heads to Kaede?s. Inuyasha, after experiencing a quick fight, decided he too would like to visit Kaede.)

**

Her hand fumbled a bit as she handed over the taxi driver?s money. The large chunk already denting the budget she?d been given. Who knew it would be so expensive just to drive a couple miles.

Her nose scrunched a bit as she breathed in the semi-sweet aroma of the air. The breath of fresh air so very different from the pungent smell inside the taxi took her by relief. Eyes watering, a cloth brought up to her nose, she attempted to breath as normally as one could. Unsure, she wondered briefly whether the smell came from the taxi itself or the one driving it. Neither looked clean, the cab driver looking the worst of the two.

But the thoughts were driven away as the taxi moved its way back to the streets, leaving Kagome to silently cheer her survival. After all, it wasn?t everyday Kagome got to visit such a run down district.

Eyes traveling about her, she took in the setting as best as one could. The buildings rose no higher than three stories, two being the average. Walls cracked and decaying, moss tucked away in niches and dents. And obviously once white walls an interesting shade of rusty brown. She was mildly happy at the fact that there were actual streets, though in need of much repair. It at least meant walking wouldn?t be too difficult.

Kagome breathed a sigh of relief when her drifting glance took in a much nicer establishment to her right. Grateful, she moved to walk up the pathway leading to the door, glad that at least the WA had chosen a comfortable place to stay.

She recalled all too clearly some of the places WA had deemed appropriate. Their standards of cleanliness obviously as low as the taxi drivers.

Shaking her head to ward of such thoughts, she once again found herself looking at the house. Though small, it held a quaintness about it. It rose no more than twenty feet above the ground, wooden in all aspects. A few windows were evenly distributed leaving it to look symmetrical. A dirt path wove its way across, the rest of the structure hidden from view as she saw the plant life that stood about it.

Hand rising to fan her heated body, she then trekked the rest of the way up to the wooden structure.

Her body tipped to the right, unsteady from the weight of her duffel bags. Setting them down, Kagome reached out with her right hand to knock on the door. Knuckles only centimeters away; her body freezing in place as the door was whisked open.

She tried to hold back the gasp, but it slipped by her lips as she stood gazing at the most oddest-looking women she had ever met.

**

His hopes had been dashed as he raced away from the carnage, hoping to be quick with his departure.

But, as previously perceived the blood had been too coated in the air to alert him to the other youkai around. He stood almost perpendicular to him as he rose from his crouch. A hand moving to wipe away some of the blood on his face, only smearing it all the more.

Inuyasha watched as the young youkai studied him. Though it was obvious that this was yet another wolf youkai, he could see the slight difference in the color of their coat. The wolf youkai did indeed not look angry, but perplexed and--- and amused.

Alarms were ringing in his head, his wounded body telling him to run, but he was curious. Curious as to whom this wolf was, and why he was here. The youkai was tall, his body lean, obviously good for speed. His dark locks long, but pulled in a high ponytail, a furry headband blocking his bangs from his face. The ice blue eyes stood glancing back and forth between him and the fallen youkai. It wasn?t long before a small smile broke across his face, his fangs only slipping a bit into view.

His mouth opened to speak, but the wolf cut him off before he could even utter a syllable.

?You have killed Hijou, you are not as weak as you look.?

Though somewhat of a complement, his ire rose at the comment. But he bit back a remark already forming in head as he opted to ask the question to cure his curiosity.

?Who are you??

Mild surprise flit across the youkai?s face but was quickly squashed as he studied Inuyasha yet again.

?I am Kouga.?

He waited, patiently hoping for more. The youkai also seemingly waiting for something as well, but as Inuyasha was obviously not giving the appropriate response, he continued on.

?I am Kouga,? saying it as if he was slow, ?leader of the wolf tribe located in this here district. I came here in hopes of taking care of this trespasser, but it seems you have already beat me to him.?

Inuyasha wondered if he was supposed to be impressed by this new bit of information on meeting the leader of the wolf tribe. It certainly seemed as though the wolf youkai was waiting for at least something similar. But his only response was to shrug, in hopes of removing the small crick in his neck.

It was really annoying him.

Kouga?s eyes narrowed a bit at the response. His mind rushing over ideas as to why this lowly half demon showed little, or more like no respect to his status; so unused to the idea of youkai not groveling at his feet. He did his best not give into some other thoughts flitting across his mind.

This hanyou after all, had taken care of rival tribe member known for its associations with some youkai he?d rather not think about. He was obviously strong, but it wasn?t anything to worry about.

Kouga was indeed a stronger youkai, he being full demon and a wolf. No lowly mutt could beat him, most definitely not a wounded one.

So keeping his cool and as much control over the delightful thoughts of beating this lowly creature, he snorted. Turning around once again to the fallen youkai near his feet. His claws drew back before he brought them down to slice the head from a chunk of flesh on the ground. The bloodied hand of his reaching to grasp the ruff of the fur atop the now dislocated head.

With hardly a glance, he raced away from the alley. Another head needing to be added to the boundary wall--- warning not only bordering tribes, but to all as to what would happen if they dared to pass into his domain.

Inuyasha watched as the wolf youkai raced away, slightly confused at the sudden departure.

He didn?t let it bother him, as he once again turned to race away his self. With a small look over his shoulder, he moved as fast as his legs could carry him towards Kaede?s. This time, not meeting with any youkai along the way.

**

He gazed at her as if she were crazed---

This woman, this old hag had gone off her rocker.

His eyes narrowed, his face turning to a scowl as he yet again looked at the bundle in his hands.

She couldn?t be thinking what he hoped she wasn?t thinking.

It was too much.

The old hag had obviously got hit on the head a few times too many.

?Inuyasha---?

?No!?

How could she think that he, Inuyasha--- any male, would ever want to--- no he wouldn?t even think about it.

There was no way he would ever put it on.

None--- whatsoever.

?How do you expect me to help you if you don?t-?

?I already told you old hag, no means no!?

He wasn?t going to do it; he couldn?t do it. It would debase every male in his society--- okay, maybe not every male. But they were all freaks anyways, and he didn?t want to have any association with those types of males.

He would be the butt of more of his brother?s jokes.

And he wasn?t about to give him any more to joke about as it was.

Not that any words from Sesshoumaru could hurt Inuyasha. He didn?t care what he thought.

?You said you needed a place to stay---?

Yes, he did.

?And that you needed to be hidden---?

He had said that as well.

?And I?m assuming you are hoping to acquire some food from me as well??

Nodding, his eyes narrowed yet again in suspicion.

She was up to something.

?You don?t expect me to do this for you for free. Not after you practically killed Shippo the last time you were here.?

Oh yea--- that!

?Is Shippo---?

?Yes, he?s still here, and if you for no other reason decide to torture him you?ll soon find yourself outside with no more help from me. Understand??

His mouth opened to retort but her next words stopped him.

?And don?t think that I?ll let Shippo get away with terrorizing you. You?re not the only one who has to deal with his antics.?

Although he was slightly relieved that Shippo also wouldn?t be able to get away with his usual tricks? it still didn?t make him feel anymore comfortable with the idea of--- of?.

?I?m still no going to wear this--- this,? his nose scrunched up in concentration as he tried to find the appropriate word to describe the hateful object of clothing in his hand, ?this thing!?

?Which brings me to my next point.?

His body tensed once again as she said those words. Wondering what now he would be forced to do while he hid out her.

?If you?re going to be staying here, you?ll need to work. Or no food and shelter for you.?

He grunted his understanding, but the look he sent her way still questioned the outfit he held in his hands.

?And you yourself said you wanted to stay hidden, so if I am to have you working around here, it would be best if you wore a disguise.?

But did it have to be this?

?And although you may believe this place safe, there are on occasion miko?s and human who will travel here. Some whom might also be looking for you, or know others searching for you. I can prevent demons from entering when need be, but it?s hard to tell which miko?s and humans should be kept out.?

His claws rapped across the table he was standing by as he wondered when she might get to the point.

?Not to mention your features stand out.?

His ears flicked a bit at the statement.

?Silver hair and amber eyes are rare among not only demons but humans as well. They are usually only associated from the family you come from. If someone whose searching for you, does happen to see you it might be best if they thought you a??

She let her sentence hang as she once again pointed at the clothing in his hands.

She was serious.

And---

And--- and he could see her point.

So?. with great reluctance and the like, he threw the offending clothing over his own baggy outfit.

The dress coming from Kaede?s closet being larger than his own clothing, allowing him enough room for him and his clothing to fit comfortable underneath.

He grumbled a bit as he looked up to find a snickering Kaede. His thoughts turning slightly deadly as he crossed his arms and looked away. He didn?t turn to look at her until he felt her aged hands tie a cloth about his head.

He jerked back a bit, but was too late as he found his head covered in an ugly brown cloth.

?What the---?

?It?ll cover both your ears and hair, I?ll have to find you contacts later so this will have to do for now.?

He didn?t like it. Better yet, he hated it.

But it wasn?t enough to tear away the clothing now adorning him.

Turning to look at Kaede once again, he attempted to say something that would express his gratitude, but instead stopped as his senses picked up a person nearing the front of the household.

?Someone?s coming.?

Kaede glanced at him once, than turned to leave as her reply was thrown over her shoulder.

?Then I suggest you get the door, your work begins now.?

Inuyasha blinked a moment before giving his own appearance a once over before reluctantly moving to the front hall. He could hear her pause in front of the door, his hand reaching out to grasp the door knob as he threw the door wide open.

Standing there, looking slightly perplexed and in awe was a girl. Her hand slightly raised as if to knock on the now nonexistent door.

A few thoughts flitted across his mind as he looked at her, really looked at her, but his mouth opened before he gave it any thought as to what he was saying.

His tone a bit harsh, and the derogatory name most definitely rude, he bit out the first words that came out of his mouth.

?What do you want wench??

* jaw drops *

 You... had to... have stopped... there.

I'm such a hypocrite, as I am also fond of cliffhangers, but it still sucks big time when one gets dropped on me... but that's what makes the wait so much more delicious - if painful

I'm surprised that there's not more reviews for this - this is just plain, frikkin' awesome!

* cough * Uh, sorry about that... But anyways, this is truly something different, and I'm really looking forward to your next chapter. * laughs * I can just imagine Inuyasha masquerading as some old hag - good luck!

Keep up the great work.

* muah *
