Relena threw the briefcase violently into the back of the Rolls Royce. She looked up to the sound of footsteps. Relena glared angrily at the person who was walking towards her. "Just get in, let's go."

Heero Yuy, Relena's bodyguard of two years, raised his eyebrows as Relena swore and ducked into the car. He settled into the seat next to her. As he was opening his mouth, Relena cut him off. "Where the hell were you?"

Heero looked down, wanting to laugh, and composed himself. "Une paged me...and paged me at 5 minute intervals for the rest of the night. I don't know what she was so worried about." He threw Relena a exasperated look, trying to convince her that he had known nothing about it.

Relena sighed.

"Hey, what's up?" Heero asked, noting that she had gone from angry (cute, funny) to sad (not cute so much as pitiable).

Relena tore her eyes from the floor to glare once again at Heero. "I didn't even have a New Year's, really, that's all. I was surrounded by strangers and distant acquaintances. I was bored out of my mind. The clock struck twelve, and there I was sitting. Alone. No friends, nothing." Relena bit back the tears.

"It's just a day." Heero said, shrugging.

"You just don't get it, do you?" Relena sighed and rested her head on the window. She began to watch the cars fly past.

Get it, what don't I get. What am I supposed to get? Heero grunted, what was it Duo had said to him the other day? Think, think, think!

"Hey Heero, you ever been round 'Jousan at New Year's?"

Heero shook his head. "Nah, not yet."

"Well, what you have to do is kiss her." Duo grinned and leaned against the nearby wall.

Heero straightened, "Huh?"

"Yeah, when the clock strikes twelve, she needs someone to kiss her. It's an old New Year's tradition. Kissing when the New Year begins..." Duo laughed at Heero's incredulous face, "You don't get out much do you!"

Heero narrowed his eyes, "You ever spent New Year's with her?"

Duo laughed and and held up his hands, "Hey, she kissed me!"

New Year's kiss...every girl needs to be kissed on New Year's.

"Relena?" Heero felt nervous tension course through his muscles. He glanced at his watch and smiled. Perfect.

"Hm?" Relena slowly turned to him.

Heero leaned in and pressed his lips onto hers. He felt her stiffen against him but did not pull away. Instead, he looped on arm behind her back, tilted his head to the side and continued to kiss her.

Relena relaxed and allowed Heero to kiss her. After a moment or two, to Heero it felt like forever, he ended the kiss with a small peck on her cheek, dropping one hand to entwine in hers. "See, you didn't miss a thing." he smirked.

Relena grinned at him, before finding herself and frowning, "Now, look, it's not even time anymore. And I didn't mind it or anything, actually...it's just...It's not midnight, it's 2:05....And I have no earthly idea why you just did that! It's just not-"

Heero closed Relena's mouth with his finger, "It was New Year's in Acapulco."

Relena giggled. Then she laughed. "It's not New Year's in Acapulco. We're in Russia Heero, It's probably New Year's in Paris or something."

Heero looked at Relena, "Does it matter?"

Relena shook her head. "I don't think so."

Heero gave Relena a sly look, "As it is New Year's in Paris, shouldn't we kiss like the French?"

Relena smiled and captured Heero in a kiss that he hoped would be the first of many he would receive from her. If this was New Year's, may it be New Year's every day.
