I stumbled upon this 4xR/1xC fic that seemed very interesting on FF.net, but I lost track of it, and was unable to find it again even with all the filter searches All I know is...
1. It's about 26 chapters long (yes, almost like a novel)
2. It has action/adventure elements in it.
Anyone heard/know anything about a story like this?

Hey, I think I know the fanfic you are talking about, I found this one a while ago while I was searching for some 4xR fics.

It's called "Basic Instinct" by Starlight Gundam. It's 23 chapters long, it first featured 4xR in the beginning then it went to multiple pairings with 1xC included and it has action/adventure/romance in it.

I'm not sure if this is the one that you are refering to but when I read this, this story came to my mind. Hope this helped

Brace yourselves because this fic is very VERY long, it took me a couple of hours to read this Maybe because I'm a slow reader but I would recommend getting some munchies before sitting down to read this. It is very good though, Heero plays match maker lol, it is so cute

Duo and Relena are married but have been too busy to spend time with each other and need to sort out this problem. I loved this fic as well, the author is a great writer and is a pro 2xR fan hehe (as you can see )

Well, that was 3xR and 2xR down... I need to hunt down some more 4xR and 5xR stories It's very hard though since these pairings are rare to come across *sighs* Well, hope you like these... Have fun!!

This story is sooooo good, I was disappointed to find it incomplete though, oh well, maybe if we nag the author enough they may come to their sences and update soon lol. I found this one interesting since 5xR and 1xS aren't usually pairings you see everyday and it is very well written.

:o Oh! This one, this one! I think this one's awesome, too, Neo (can I call you that? Or Neon?). And I agree. It is a shame that it isn't complete, but who knows the reason why it is unfinished. Personally, although it's painful for me to "imagine" what's next since I tend to imagine the worst (like Wufei dying or something), I am willing to wait for the next installment - whenever that may be. I guess I don't mind because I put my readers through the exact same waiting game cause I'm a darn perfectionist and am an unbelievably slow writer on top of that (ie. Pros and Cons).

Lovely site, Desertbloom - I enjoyed poking around it immensely I have to admit that that was the first time I really took some time to focus on 4xC, but I'm really glad that I have now. If Quatre were to be paired up with someone, I'd choose Cathy, too. * grins * I especially liked that story Quest for the Foot Popping Kiss. It was hilarious :razz:

Thanx for posting it - I never would have known otherwise. I'm actually starting to dabble in this pairing. I've included them in a new fic I'm working on called The Drive (now that's some shameless self-promotion right there ). It's primarily 3xR, but there will be 4xC in it too.

[Zeros Lost Soul]

I rather like it when Heero is paired with some one else because that shows that a good writer can put two characters who never met into the same scene. Also, it gives you more freedom because you don't have to be accurate if you want to recall a past meeting of the characters, for example, Heero never actually met Hilde, but, he could if he made some connection with him after endless walts, And you could solve the 2xH pairing a number of ways. Death, only a friend, etc. Any way, i'm not putting down the show's pairings, just, with situations like Heero and Hilde, it gives you more freedom to play out the characters in the story. Kinda like my story 'Across the Winds' I also like The 1xMK/MB story in the original archive. Very hard pairing, but possible, at least, the story made me think so. Anyway, Try to keep an open mind, You might surprise yourself...

The whole business with my not liking Heero paired up with another is just a quirky thing that I can't seem to shake.



Wait, scratch that. Even that sounds wrong. Well, I'll try my best to explain, though I warn you, I suck at explanations...

Although I'd like to think of myself as someone who can be open minded, this particular topic really is just a quirky thing of mine - a glitch in Naus' system, per se - that is really hard to get over , and it seems that I'm not alone - maybe for the same reason and maybe not (probably not). I can't speak for everyone else, but for me, it's not that I don't appreciate fics that have Heero and another character starring as the major couple - in fact, I agree with you one hundred percent. To write a story where the plotline is so valid and believable (which falls under the category of not having just killed off the "traditional" counterpart by saying, "They died by choking on gum. The end,") is an extremely, extremely big accomplishment. That's why I myself tend to stay away from writing long, in-depth alt. pairing fics simply because of the fact that it is so hard to think of an entirely new history as to why the "traditional" pairing is not together.

So for the record: Props to you who manage such feats

Also, as what I guess is what you have noticed, there just happens to be no Heeroxsomeone stories posted here. This, I have to say, is a sad situation. * tears * I never meant the posting to seem as though it was against Heeroxsomeone, because it isn't.

Hey, if you youself have any fav. Heeroxsomeone fics, please, please, please feel free to take up pages. It would be awesome to have a balance of both. And, who knows, maybe we'll get even more postings that aren't even focusing on either Heero or Relena (ie. Desertbloom's post about 4xC).

Hi hi! Just so this doesn't end up like the whole coupling fiasco recently, (which I'm sure it wouldn't have because you all are wonderful people) I'd just like to step in here and say a few things.

I think everyone here on the Alternatives forum is very opened minded, and I'm proud that as a forum, we have respected and encouraged all different types of pairings. Why else would we be in the alt forum in the first place, right?

It's a bit tricky sometimes, this pairing stuff. Everyone has their favorites, and for whatever reason, sometimes you just can't explain why. But just because a person has a favorite pairing, it doesn't mean he or she dislikes any other pairing not involving their preferred characters.

I think the whole alternative pairing Heero situation is one of those unexplained mysteries in the non-yaoi fanfiction community. There are considerably less Alternative fanfictions involving Heero than there are involving Relena. This is probably due to a number of reasons...that I won't get into here. (Feel free to pm/email me though if you want to discuss further, I'm always up for a chat )

Alternative pairing stories are great in that they are challenging to write and can really make readers think about new possibilities in fanfiction. I think we all understand this. I don't think anyone was trying to censure or offend.

In any case, if we could keep this post on-topic, meaning for the hidden gems stories it was meant to showcase, that would be wonderful.

I'm usually not so strict on things like this, but if you had any idea of what happened recently with the GW pairings discussion and all the headaches that ensued, I think we could all use a nice break from potentially controversial topics.

Hey, sweets, only a tiny post for me today... one referral, and one comment on a fic I had read.

First things first, the review of Prologue to Forever by Ash Wednesday Lee. A 3xR fic.

Here we go...

I had actually read this story before on ff.net, and yet again, I had lost track of it over time. Luckily for me, I found it again at Crying Clowns - thanx again for posting, Neon! The only reason why I recognized the title was because of the story itself. It's one you can honestly not forget.

The best way I can describe what I experienced when re-reading it after so long is this: a slow melting of one's emotions until you're an absolute puddle on the floor, wondering if Relena will really just let Trowa walk out of her life, and vice versa. It's a long-ish piece, but you really never notice its length because the words literally flow into one another. Time went by fast, and I found myself saying, "Wasn't there more? There had to have been more!" And now imagine me frantically searching for a sequel. But alas, there isn't. That's okay though. The ending leaves us imagining the possibilities... and only in special cases (like this one, in my opinion) does this really fit.

In short, if you haven't read it before: read, READ, READ!!!
