I know I just posted an hour ago, but when I read Elyn's challenge, I had this lovely idea that wouldn't leave me alone, so I sat down and wrote it.
The first segment is a drabble (rating: G, pairing: 1xR, word count 120) that fulfills the drabble #7 challenge.
The second segment, which takes place later that evening, was meant to be a drabble but I couldn't get it past 200 words, so it's just kind of a mutant drabble. It fulfills Elyn Yuy's angst challenge.
Disclaimer: I do not own Gundam Wing.

Tears

?No.?
The word hung between them until Heero spoke.
?Is there someone else??
Relena shook her head. ?There hasn?t been anyone since . . . you left.?
?Then why not?? He moved towards her, but she stepped back.
?You abandoned me, Heero. Do you think I can just forget that?? He reached for her, but she twisted away. ?And do you really think I can trust you not to leave again??
She forced herself to ignore the pain in his eyes. It?s for the best, she told herself, gripping the material of her dress.
Heero stood in stunned silence, certain his heart had stopped; then, with slow, anguished movements, he turned and walked away.
He did not see her tears begin to fall.

?Male, 23, Japanese. Hit by a drunk driver after leaving the Peacecraft mansion, 9:20 pm.?
The policewoman continued her report, but Relena barely heard it. She stood by the door, staring in horror at the still, bandaged figure in the hospital bed before her.
If only I had been willing to hear him out, she thought. He wouldn?t have been on the street right then . . .
The doctor put a hand on her shoulder, his eyes sorrowful. ?He?s lost so much blood . . .? Relena nodded, though her heart screamed that this couldn?t be happening. Not to him.
Moving to the bed, she stared down at his delicately chiseled face, half covered in bandages, and knew, in that moment, that she still loved him dearly. Why had she been so stubborn? ?Oh, Heero,? she whispered.
His eyes opened slowly and settled on hers, and he seemed to smile, murmuring something unintelligible which Relena knew to be her own name. She reached out to touch his face. There were so many things she needed to say . . .
She never got the chance. The cardiograph next to his bed suddenly flatlined, and his Prussian blue eyes drifted shut, fixed on hers until they closed forever.
He did not see her tears begin to fall.
