Trowa never had a real home. He had never known what it was like to have a real family, or what it was like to have a mother. Childhood was supposed to be innocent, happy and carefree. His was anything but that. His childhood had been serious and bloody, his family had been a group of mercenaries, and his home, if you could call it that, had been the battlefield.

It had hurt. It had hurt to sit around the fire with the mercenaries, listening to them talk about their homes, about their families. He hadn?t had either. So he sat there, listening to their stories, becoming more withdrawn, more scared. During those lonely nights, he developed a fear that would haunt him throughout the war. What if he never found a home?

He looked to the blonde woman that was sleeping beside him, smiling slightly as he brushed stray strands of hair from her face. Suddenly, he wasn?t afraid anymore, because now, he had one. It had been in front of his face for years, but he had just realised it now. He chuckled softly at his stupidity. How could he have missed it?

Wherever she was, was home.



Author's Note: Okay, I don't write Trowa fanfiction very much, so this probably isn't a very good fic, but I got this idea in my head, and it wouldn't go away until I wrote it down... Anyway, I hope this is good enough for your ML, Beck! I'm only 16, so I can't get in... could you post it for me?

Okay, I don't write Trowa fanfiction very much, so this probably isn't a very good fic...

Trust me. It's more than good. You gave history to Trowa's invertedness - which isn't explained very much in most fics. It's just always assumed that "Trowa's quiet, cause he's quiet in the series." No one really gives an explanation to it, but you did.

You gave me a reason to say, "Oh, that makes sense. I get why Trowa's like that," you know?

And what makes it even better is that he finds his home with Relena.

I think this was written wonderfully for Trowa's character. It fits his past so well even though we don't know too much about it but what you have covered could be the way he felt *sniffles and hugs Trowa to her chest* I will work on posting it to the ML (even though its not mine ^_~ hehehehehe) in the morning but before I do that, what email do you want me to use when I post your ficlet? The hotmail addy or do you have something else?

Wow, glad you guys liked it. I wasn't sure if I really stayed true to Trowa or not. So you think the girl is Relena? Hmm... I never really thought about who it was, I just thought that I'd put in a blonde girl. It could be Relena, Midii, Dorothy, or just any random person. Hehe, although I find the idea of a 3xR much more appealing than a 3xD *grins*.

I agree with everyone else. A logical explaination for Trowa's quietness. And it gives you that warm fuzzy feeling that he found peace with himself.

A mystery girl, eh? hehe..I think you're right about 3xR vs 3xD...I think most of us think its Relena though.

Wow, I loved this. I agree with what everyone has said about this wonderful prose creation. I never would have imagined that you could make a plausible, emotional, insightful story out of three paragraphs. That is talent.

As for the girl, I first thought of Midii, but then Rel and Dorothy both surfaced in my head. Ya know what? I like that it's a mystery, because I can see reasons for each to fit. It would almost be interesting for you to flesh out the story and decide which one would fit best with Trowa and why. But because it was so genuine and believably part of Trowa's life issues, it is fabulous on its own. Man, oh man, I loved it!

Thanks for sharing this ficlet by Symee-Sama, and please thank her for me for submitting it. It's nice to see other takes on the theme and
characters. ^__^ I especially liked the brief look at the mercenaries as men with families they loved, rather than the violent brutes they're often portrayed as. I like to see them written as decent human beings, even if a bit hard bitten and world weary.
