Throw My Heart: One Pill At A Time

The warmth of the fireplace was refreshing. The silent blaze warmed her heart, calmed her mind. She was twenty-three, had two children and another to be expected in mid-spring. It was late, around two in the morning. Tearing her eyes from the hypnotizing colors of the fire, the young woman looked down at the sleeping infant cradled in the protection of her arms. Was this what he was able to create out of his love for her? Was this little human child something that he had wanted? Was it what she had expected?
The Grandfather clock in the study chimed softly, like it was chanting out a sweet, soothing lullaby for her. Two chimes. Exactly two in the morning now. What was she still doing up? Why had she gotten up, picked up her little baby and sat in the living room at the far end of the Manor, away from him? What was wrong with her now? Her little girl, the child in her arms, was there for a little comfort from her pains, and for the company. She felt as though her soul was trying to explain something to her, but why at this time of the night?
If he knew she was up at this time, he?d come looking for her, gun in hand and ready. But he?d probably check on the children first, and then search for her. That, for some reason, didn?t matter to her, though. The wind from outside blew hard against the side of the house, rattling the windows, making the walls tremble. With a soft sigh of fatigue and exasperation, Relena Peacecraft Yuy glanced briefly at the fireplace, making sure the mask was in place before she closed her eyes, and then leaned her head back. The padded top of the rocking chair did well for her sore, stiff neck. The baby in her arms let out a small, soft whimper. Relena rocked the chair with the balls of her feet.
With sleep quickly taking over, the exhaust6ed Queen fell into a deep slumber, her memories immediately merging as her dreams began to play. She never heard the bare feet gently slapping along the tile hallway, or the couch give way beneath someone?s weight as they sat down. Who was there? It was black at first, as she tried to reach out to whomever was there. Would they hurt her? Why couldn?t she open her eyes? Why couldn?t she call out to whomever was there? Had they planned this out or something?
The blackness disappeared. Her first dream was paused, nothing moving. Play. Everything came to life. She watched everything from her own eyes?first person mode. She looked around at the campus she had grown up on, her friends all walking by, not even noticing her. Was she even there? St. Gabrielle?s Institute had been a second home, her first being the Colonies all over space. Friends, boys and girls, all walked around holding their books to themselves. They all laughed, smiled and even played with each other, whether it be by a simple touch or a glance, they teased one another.
Something black quickly jumped from rooftop to rooftop, a black package in hand. Who could that have been? It looked like it had been her last year here, it was all the same. Nothing had changed, nor would it ever, not at this place. She spotted someone who was familiar, but wouldn?t place a name. The young woman with hair as bright as the overhead sun and the color of wheat at its finest ran from the parkway. Her long hair flew out behind her, two small adjoining braids at the back of her head dancing along the wind.
Her maroon skirts that fell to above her ankles, glided along the hands of the wind, as she continued to run, not appearing to be short of breath. Her light blue eyes were full of excitement. She threw a hand into the air, waving at whomever she was running to. Her own schoolbooks were clutched to her skirts. Relena?s eyes caught hold of the black figure again, and this time she managed to keep it in sight. She, too, began to run with the girl, only to see who the other person might be and also to see what the black person was up to.
She came alongside the woman, and the other person came into view a couple of feet ahead. Her mind cried out his name, just as the girl beside her called out to him. The girl waved again, giggling her pleasure. The man she was supposed to meet had a gun in his hand, and an angry, concerned look in his eyes. His face was emotionless. He waved at her, shouting for her to get down, as he began to sprint towards her. Glancing over her shoulder, Relena found the real reason why the black shape was there.
At the top of the clock tower at the front of the school, the black form crouched, something gleaming and aimed in front of it. She turned her head around, screaming at the woman to duck, encouraging the man to help her. What was going to happen? Why did this all seem so familiar to her? Why was Heero here? Was he going to kill her after he got the black thing? Relena felt her chest tighten in fear as she panicked. She had to do something soon or else it was going to happen again! Heero cried out to her, gun pointed at the black figure. He pulled the trigger. A loud deafening noise rang throughout the air. It sounded like thunder, but with no lightning.
People screamed, watching the scene unfold. The girl with wheat colored hair stumbled forward. Blood erupted in mid-air from her back and chest. Her books fell to the ground, the pages flapping wildly in the wind. Relena ran to the girl, as did Heero. Two more shots burst through the air. The girl grunted under the impact of the bullets.
More blood sprayed the air from the back and chest. Relena want to catch the girl, but Heero beat her to it. Letting his gun drop to the ground, his arms went around her. She fell into him, blood leaking from her lips. Pure sock and pain flashed in her eyes. She tried to speak, but more blood ran down her chin. She weakly brought her arms up and clutched desperately at the jacket on his broad back. Her fingers dug into his back at the sharp stabbing pain she felt throughout her upper body. The bullets burned away at her lungs and flesh.
Relena felt tears sting her eyes. She brought a hand to her mouth to stifle her silent cries. She shook her head as she finally realized that it had been her all this time. No! Heero slowly dropped to his knees, Relena following him. Her head rest on his shoulder, as he gingerly shifted her so she?d be lying in his arms. He saw the blood on the front of her school uniform and than looked down at the fresh blood staining his own school uniform. Bringing his eyes back to the girl?s face, he took her hand from his jacket and placed it on the soft grass.
Relena sucked a sharp, shallow breath through her nose. Tears stained her once laughter flushed cheeks, blood mingling with the salty wetness. She looked up at him, her breathing getting more and more thin then before. She wanted to speak to him, but she couldn?t. More blood poured from her mouth, as she opened it. Heero placed two fingers to her lips, not caring about the blood that blotted his flesh.
?Don?t try to speak. You?ll be fine, just let me go get someone who can help you.? He nodded, while he spoke, trying to make the words convincing. They did no good.
Relena swallowed deeply. Her entire body convulsed. Blood seeped out from the bullet wounds on her chest. Her eyes slid shut, just as her hand found his. Opening her eyes slowly, the dying girl managed to bring his hand to her lips. Her eyes spoke the words. She pressed a hard, bloody kiss to his flesh, marking him again. Her eyes then went wide for a second before sliding shut. Heero did the same. That kiss had burned him. Her tight grip that she had had was now gone. Her arm fell to the grass, his hand to her damaged chest.
Heero felt something wet tickle his cheek. He lowered his head. He didn?t want to know what it was, he already knew. People had begun to crowd around, some crying at the scene that was laid down before them.
?They?re on their way, Heero.? It was Charlie Bendaden. Relena closed her eyes on the scene. Just as she reopened them, everything flashed black. Suddenly another image appeared and she felt herself being sucked into the little dot of light at the end.
Again everything was still.
Play.
There was a soft hum in the background. She looked around in confusion. Everything was dimly lit, covered in gray steel. The bottom of a space shuttle? No?. Someplace different? Relena swallowed. She watched a shadowed figure slowly creep along the shadows playing the length of the walls. Who was that? When the individual came into full view, she grasped the fact that it was herself, again. Hadn?t she died earlier? What was going on? Relena watched as a twin of herself continued her journey in silence. Was she escaping in secret? Someone came up behind her, grabbed her shoulder and spun her around in one rough twist.
?What are you doing here?? The voice was gruff, male, monotone.
Relena struggled with her words. ?I came here looking for you! You weren?t at home when I had checked on you.? She held his glare with a superior look of her own.
?Are you stupid? They could?ve caught you. Then what would you have done??
?They can?t do anything to me if they even tried,? she scoffed, trying to take her arm back. She sounded so confident. She stared up at him, feeling his deep blue eyes dig into her soul.
?Think of the child.? Heero scowled. He nodded with his chin to her stomach. ?Think of what they?d do to it!?
Relena set her chin, crossing her arms under her breasts. ? I have thought about that, unlike some people! I?m not as dense as I appear, Heero,? she retorted angrily.
Heero?s glare didn?t soften. ?You can?t follow me, so don?t even try it.?
?I wasn?t planning on it.? She looked past him at the ajar door, the humming and bright light escaping through the crack. Heero immediately caught her glance and longing looks.
?Zechs is in there. He?s had it all planned sine the Terra forming project.? His tone wasn?t convincing, never was, but his eyes were.
Relena felt her jaw wanting to move into a shouting competition with this man, but she mentally calmed herself down. ?I know. I?ve been checking up on him and you, both. I just didn?t know Duo was in on it as well.? She nodded at the door, a long braid quickly swishing past the light and disappearing.
Heero tried not to let his surprise show. ?Glad you finally figured it out. Took you long enough.? He watched her closely. He was suddenly feeling?desperate, like he needed her, wanted her. He felt his eyelids drop a bit. ?You should get going.?
Relena hadn?t noticed the husky tone or the lustful look in his eyes. She shrugged nonchalantly. ?Fine with me.? She turned and began to head back the way she came. Heero instantly grasped her wrist tightly, stopping her. She glanced back over her shoulder at the abrupt contact, and then turned fully to face the mysterious man in front of her.
She stared up at him as he brought her closer to him. His hold on her slender wrist relaxed and he held her hand up between their bodies. Heero suddenly lowered his head, his eyes hooded in passion. Relena lifted her lips, her entire face tilting up. Her eyes went wide. She had never seen this side of him. Was he capable of such a nature? His eyes held hers for the longest time before they finally lowered to watch her lips. It was like he could see her breath passing through her lips. Did he notice her difficulty breathing?
?Wait, Relena?I?? He didn?t finish. His mouth came down onto hers. Her eyes went wider in surprise, then closed when she moved her lips under his, feeling his tongue slip forth to tease her lower lip.
She opened up to him, just as he pulled her body up to his. Heero then slipped his tongue into her mouth and slid an arm around her waist. Her tongue played with his, taunting him. The steaming image left, replaced by total darkness. Relena held her breath. Why had it just done that? It was just getting good, too! Just before she was going to shout out loud, another image came up. Her mind was starting to anger her. Why didn?t it keep doing this?
A large Christmas tree stood in the middle of a massive skating rink. Groups of people she didn?t recognize were huddled together on the ice or else sat outside of the large rink. Around the tree, benches surrounded it. A ton of what looked to be tired skaters sat holding cups of something in their hands or talked. Nothing moved. No one spoke, it was all-silent. Relena stood beside the gate leading out onto the ice. She turned away, looking out at the huge buildings all nicely lit for the holidays.
She then spotted Heero.
Play!
She watched in confusion as he weaved his way through throngs of people. He held something wrapped in a thick blanket close to his body.
(I will continue later on when I have more time, for now it?s 4 minutes till lunch time.)
