If your talking about the plant engineer its because although Vash seems kinda thick sometimes, he sees and knows a lot more than he lets on. He probably remembered her the moment he saw her. And we can always start a conversation in the off topic section of the forums, so fear not.

Hmmmm.... Well, Vash has tendencies to do that kid of stuff. Like Kiyoko says, Vash seems kinda thick, he sees and knows a lot more than he lets on. That's just Vash, tho. At first glance you think he's a huge dork (super COOL dork) and then... Well... We all know it's mostly a mask. That's the thing about Vash. Is he really happy? Or is it just a mask? One really has to wonder. I think that deep down, he's not that happy. But when he's with his friends, with Milly, Meryl, and even Wolfwood, he feels happy, warm-hearted, but at the same time, filled with despair. "Everyone who touches me dies..." He's afraid to get close to anyone, afraid that something will happen to him. Because of the life he leads. Vash is a gentle man with a *big* spirit. And even tho he comes off as dense but still managing to kick ass, he's not. He's very smart. It's his inner emotions he doesn't want anyone to see. One--he could get hurt. Two--he doesn't want them to carry his burdens if they really do care.
I think when Vash tells Meryl about his past it holds such significant meaning. He just doesn't go around babbling about it to everyone. And you can see he's always *trying* to find something cheerful even when a normal man (tho Vash isn't really human, but that's not the point, he still has feelings) would crumble under such pressure. Like with the donuts before Legato confronts him--he's all happy about them, and then... he just can't hold it in anymore, but while he's crying, he still looks so happy. But like Wolfwood said--his smiles are empty. They're not real. So when you see a real one, hold it close.
The real question (and point) here is -- during the series, is Vash truly happy? Or is all just a facade, a cover-up? I don't think so (at some points he seems sincere) but what are *your* opinions?

Well, hmmmm...I think that we have two different girls in our heads...I'm talking about the girl in the town that helped to "capture" him. She was the one with the gun to his head...or maybe we are talking about the same person....I don't know.
Well, I have to say that I agree with Lady Zeia...Vash wears a little mask of happiness to hide the distress that he is having to fight within his heart. He shows some of this while he's having to fight Monev...I think. I think that he's happy at some times on the show...but there are times when he's just got a mask on...it's a mix of the two.
This gets me thinking of how much Vash is like Duo. I've seen a lot of fanfics where Duo has an outlook on his life where he says that anyone he gets close to dies (reference to Sister Helen and Father Maxwell and Solo) Yeah...well...that's my opinion!
Peace out!

Yup. I suppose you're right. Vash *does* have a resemblence in personality to Duo. Sad past, put it on with a happy face. ^^ I dunno, Knives fascinates me the most after Vash, tho. x.x;; Anyone care to kow why?

^^ Lol, thanks Kanya, your enthusiasm inspires me, and I'm not being sarcastic.
'Cause. Knives just....Hm....I don't know. He puts on this cold, hateful mask, but deep down, he's insecure. He needs his brother. He's lonely. He doesn't want to die alone. He doesn't want to be stuck on Planet Gunsmoke alone. He doesn't want the humans to murder him and his brethren. He just wants his brother. Through the whole series, he just wants his brother's support, and he doesn't get it. So he grows frantic. He does anything and everything to get him. He hates the humans. He wants his brother to understand. Only Vash can understand. But Vash's heart is open to the humans, and Knives's isn't. He just wants his brother. It's like a mantra. "Get him, don't kill him." I believe that even in "Under the Sky So Blue" he wouldn't have killed him, just knocked him out or shot him to where he was incapable of getting away--but, fortunately, Vash got there first. So Knives is wearing his mask, too. He comes off as cold, as callous, but deep down, he's still an insecure child who needs his brother's love. Who needs someone to understand him--and Vash does. Who needs someone there to tell him it's all right. And Vash is able to achieve this in "Under the Sky So Blue" or that's the impression we get that he's going to. ^^ So all is good. *That's* why Knives fascinates me. Other than the fact that he's hot, >P, he's not like everyone thinks him to be.

Hmmmm...why do I like Legato...Well, he's a bad guy and girls are just attracted to the mysterious bad guys naturally. Ummm...dang I can't come up with anything as deep as what you said...hold on...if I think hard enough I'm sure that I can.
He's loyal! That's it! He's very loyal! He will do anything, even if it means that he must die himself. If you ask it of him he will do it...of course that isn't deep...I just like the way he looks...and his body...and his voice...and his evil-beyond-evil laugh that he does. *melts* I can't think of anything else right now b/c I'm really, really hungry...I might come up with something good after I get my mind off of food.
Peace out!
