All's Fair in Love and War Chapter Three
Adjusting his uniform for the last time, Heero walked to the shuttle.
Pulling his hat down to cover his Prussian eyes. Luck was finally on his side. The stiff blue uniform fit, and so far no one had noticed the unconscious body. But of course no one would. He was a Gundam pilot after all.
?Where the hell were you??
The sharp voice destroyed his thoughts. He shot a glare at the speaker. The stewardess?s eyes widened and Heero walked past her.
Suddenly chaos erupted outside, as cameras went off and questions were shouted.
?Relena, is it true that you have a secret lover?!?
?Minster, about the Pluto Terraforming Project?!?
?Just in time.? As Heero gave a malicious grin.
Moments later, a very peeved Vice Foreign Minister stepped aboard.
?Ah, Minister Darlian! Pleasure to have you with us.? The stewardess said as she quickly looked around.
?Luke!?
Silence.
Trying not to lose her cool, she cried out again, ?Luke!?
Silence.
Heero glanced down idly at his nametag which said ?Luke.? Blinking, Heero shot up.
Relief washed over the stewardess face. ?Ah. Wonderful. Luke,? she said this with some venom, ?please take Minister Darlian to her seat.?
Heero pulled his hat down even further, and groaned inwardly. ?This wasn?t in the plan.?
Relena looked from person to person in utter disbelief.
?Err. You do know where Minister Darlian?s seat is??
?Hn.?
He turned on his heel and lead Relena to her seat. Unfortunately, he had no idea where that was.
Relena sighed and sat down.
Heero kept walking, until he realized he wasn?t being followed. He turned around and blinked. A blonde head a few seats away caught his attention.
?What are you doing,? he asked quietly, trying to change his voice a bit but failing miserably.
Relena opened her eyes, and raised an eyebrow. ?I happen to like sitting here. Is that a problem??
Suspiciously Relena looked at him and tried to make eye contact, but his hat was down too far. ?This,? she gestured around her, ?is after all my seat.?
Heero froze and shook his head. ?No.?
As he walked off, Relena smirked. ?Well, Heero. Let?s see what you?ve got.?
***********************************************************************
Staring out of the window, she waited patiently for the shuttle to take off. Finally she was returning home from L1.
Sinking back further into the uncomfortable seat, she closed her eyes and started to drum her fingers and tap her feet to a song only she could hear.
Still recovering, Heero absentmindedly watched her in the corner of his eye, eyebrow raised in pleasure at her antics.
Lights flashed overhead, the dull click of seatbelts fastening was heard. Trying not to blow his cover, Heero glanced around and walked over to Relena.
?We?re lifting off.?
Sapphire eyes opened. Shooting him an aloof glare, she fastened her seatbelt. Her eyes looked at him expectantly.
?Hn.?
As he walked away, she swore she could have heard relief in his voice. Or maybe not.
************************************************************************
A wicked grin crossed her features.
Standing there alone, Heero looked like he needed something to do.
?Excuse me sir??
Silence.
Huffing slightly, she tried again. ?Hey! A little assistance would be nice!?
Heero looked up, blinking. Realizing what just happened, he cursed under his breath. ?Can?t let her know who I am.?
Relena smirked. ?Thinks he?s still inconspicuous, does he??
He gazed down her politely. ?Yes??
Eyelashes beating, she beamed at him. ?I could use a pillow, if its not too much trouble??
He glared at her.
?Please?? More eyelashes.
A stern glance from the other stewardess, and Heero was off looking for a pillow.
?Damn this job.?
A few moments later, Relena found a pillow in her face. Spluttering, she narrowed her eyes. ?Thank you.?
Heero bent his head in acknowledgement.
As he started to walk away, Relena coughed loudly.
He turned. ?Yes??
?You know, I could really use a blanket. Space is cold,? she said firmly, her eyes never leaving his face.
His fingers twitched for a self-destruct button.
********************************************************************
Glancing out of the window again, watching the pinpoints of light in the black of space. ?I feel so alone,? she thought.
Snuggling into the blanket and pillow, Relena pulled out her laptop.
?Nope?nadda?.Ah! Here we go,? she thought while searching the endless information. ?Police reports of two murders?. killed by bullets?Hmm?reports that the murder?s blood was also found at the crime scene.. DNA didn?t match anything on record..?
She raised an eyebrow, and nonchalantly looked back at the brooding young man with his arms crossed. His hat still pulled down as far as it would go, he didn?t seem to notice anything.
?Being careless, Heero.? She smirked. ?Hmm.. wonder where this was??
After some clicking of keys, Relena?s eyes came to rest on a street name. She briefly remembered taking the long way home that night. ?No wonder she hadn?t a clue where her jacket went off to. At least he destroyed that bit of evidence.?
Sighing, she peered over the seat again. His head perked up. ?Bingo.?
Relena beamed at him again. She made a gesture remarkably similar to ?can I get a drink??
He turned towards the back of the shuttle.
Hurriedly typing, the Princess of Peace found herself in the depths of the Preventer?s main data system. Grinning, she pulled up the file on Preventer Zero. ?Not in active duty? Hmm??
Cough!
Relena froze. Looking up innocently, she met eyes with the person she had just seen on the screen.
?Heh heh??
She attempted to hide it with a laugh, and tried to close the laptop without causing too much attention.
Blanching, she saw it coming but couldn?t do a thing about it.
As her drink poured into her lap, it was almost worth it to see the look on his face.
Thanks guys! Yet again I own nothing. Nadda. Zip.

"The point is, you see," said Ford, "that there is no point in driving yourself mad to stop yourself going mad. You might just as well give in and save your sanity for later."
We'll meet beyond the shore
We'll kiss just as before
Happy we'll be beyond the sea
And never again I'll go sailing - Beyond the Sea
