Comments: Once again, WBS= Write Back Soon. I am writing this short series to get back into the habit of writing Gundam Wing fanfiction. It has been about two years of no-writing for me, so bear with the awkward sentences and the overuse of Duo as a cheap and easy source of comedic relief. Chapter Two, I hope you enjoy!

Chapter Two
The bed was as lush and lavish as one would expect in the Vice Foreign Minister?s bedroom. The frame and headboard were carved elegantly from dark, almost ebony wood, a ceiling-grazing canopy of dark red hanging overhead. Four pillows rested side by side, each as soft and as fluffy as any could hope for, a large, almost overstuffed rose-colored comforter lying across it. It was unanimous among the Minister?s staff that this bed was the most comfortable and heavenly looking bed they had ever seen.
It seemed almost fitting, then, that Relena had fallen asleep hunched over her desk.
One arm dangled off the desk, her fingers hanging limply in the air. Her other rested curled beneath her head, her face facing down into the crook of her arm. The long, wavy tresses of dark dirty blonde hair, once held tight in a high bun, had now for the most part pulled free, and were resting in small rivulets down her back.
Lying on the desk, barely visible as her face and arm covered the lower half, rested a nearly blank sheet of paper. The top read, ?Dear Heero,? and nothing more. An overly expensive looking black ink pen was left flat upon the table, just out of reach of her fingertips.
The blonde murmured softly in her sleep before rolling her head to the side, bright violet eyes fluttering a moment, and then opening sleepily. With a sigh she pressed her palms onto the table and pushed herself up, blinking a moment as if still clearing her sight. As she raised a hand to her face to stifle a yawn, her gaze dropped to the paper, and her hand stilled in midair.
Heero?
For the past four days she had been trying to write her monthly letter, but for all of her efforts, she could not think of another solitary thing to say. After all, since he never replied, there was nothing for her to respond to, and how many times could she relate the same old story of ?how my day went?.
Frowning, Relena reached down to pick up the pen, pressing it to the paper. A small black dot was all she created, and it only grew bigger as she pressed the pen down onto it. Why didn?t he ever reply? She wondered sourly, gaze narrowing. Although it had hurt a little to receive no return letters, each passing month had only made her a bit madder, rather than sad. She had kept up correspondence for four years now, all one sided, and now could not think of another thing to say. And why should she send these letters anyway? Was it not pointless?
Relena closed those eyes for a moment, and as usual, she immediately saw Heero?s face before her. His eyes, so serious and so intense, that stony expression, that grinless mouth? And yet, despite the hurt and anger that gave small rise within her, another, stronger emotion rose as well. Relena may have been inexperienced in the area of love, but she was fairly certain she knew how it felt. Her heart racing, her palms sweating, her mouth going dry. Somehow that stupid, robot-like pilot could always make her feel this way, even when he was being cruel.
Heero? She thought his name again, before trying it once on her lips. ?Heero? you are never going to feel the same way, are you?? she asked the empty room. She looked down at her letter once more, her expression becoming serious, determined.
Gritting her teeth, Relena gripped her pen tightly, and then, finally, began to write. Her pen gently traced across the page with light scratches, her gaze never once leaving the paper. It almost seemed cathartic, for as each sentence made its way onto the blank page, Relena?s brow unfurrowed, and her expression softened. When she finished, she gently set the pen down next to the page, picking up the letter delicately, leaning forward to blow on the ink, to dry it. She then folded the letter in half, pulling it up to her face. She pressed her lips against it, closing her eyes, before folding the letter once more and dropping it into the waste basket next to her desk.
?Goodbye Heero,? she whispered, taking a deep breath. She then stood and, without a backwards glance, left the room.

Heero stepped out of the transport ship, his eyes assaulted immediately by the bright sunlight surrounding the airport. He tugged at the bag hanging over his shoulder, readjusting it. Someone behind him pushed him forward, and Heero?s gaze whipped sharply around.
Duo stood with his arms on his hips, a smile playing upon his face. ?Well hurry up, we going to stand here all day??
Heero?s blank expression stayed on the man a moment, before Heero turned and continued walking down the platform. ?No one asked you to come,?
?Are you kidding? I wouldn?t miss this for the world,? His voice suddenly became announcer-like, booming out across the dock. ?Love triumphs once again! The Gundam Pilot and the Vice Foreign Min-? A sharp jab to Duo?s stomach caused the long-haired male to breath in quickly, a hand going to his gut.
?God? why do you always gotta hit me in the stomach? There are other places you know, the arm, the leg, the face!? He lunged forward, a fist flying towards Heero?s face.
Having just made it to the bottom of the platform, Duo still a few steps above him, the blank faced male simply stepped to the side, letting Duo barrel along past him. Thanks to the momentum gained by going down the ramp, Duo lost his balance as he attempted to stop his charge, and ended up in a small heap upon the floor, now swearing at no one, everyone, and Heero.
Heero walked past him without glancing down, once again readjusting his pack. ?We are here to check up on the Vice Foreign Minister and to find Wufei. You should have stayed behind with Quatra, you are unneeded,?
Duo mumbled something else, but rather than give his usual quip reply he simply stood and followed along after Heero. After a few minutes of walking behind him, he finally pulled up to walk next to him, the two headed towards the exit of the airport.
?So,? Duo went on, although his tone was more serious. ?Do you think you will even recognize what she looks like? What has it been, two or three years??
?Four years,? Heero replied, looking forward and raising out an arm to hail a cab.
Duo rose a brow in surprise, but glanced out towards the busy street as he continued to speak. ?Man, four years and you didn?t say one word to her. I hope she will even let us in to see her,? he muttered.
The cabs that passed them did not so much as glance over, and Duo soon growled in frustration. ?Hey!? he shouted at the street, earning a few surprised glances from the passerby. ?Stop the goddamn cab! We got places to go! Don?t you people have any idea who we- ARG!? Duo grunted as Heero grabbed him by the collar. Then, using the entire strength of one arm he threw Duo out into the street, just in front of an oncoming cab.
The driver nearly choked on air in surprise, the squealing sound of his breaks being applied screeching out across the street. Duo had landed on his feet, but now stood before the cab like a paralyzed deer, hands raising, as usual, in the completely useless act of covering his face. The cab swerved, the breaks crying, before finally coming to a complete stop a foot before Duo.
It took a moment for Duo, or the driver, to even move. Heero, however, calmly walked up to the cab, opened the door and slipped in. ?437 Torrace Avenue,? He directed, dropping his pack onto the floor before him. A moment later the car dipped down as Duo opened the other side door and plopped in. The driver was absolutely silent, and began driving as soon as Duo closed the door.
?You are dead, Yuy. You get me? Fucking dead,?

I'm surprised, Heero. You really turn up in the most unexpected places. -- Duo
