Not too late (songfic / G)
Well, I just finished writing this. Funny how inspiration just kicks in. Well, just a fic that popped out of my head while listening to Norah Jones. It contains a part of "Broken" by Norah Jones, but decided to name it after another song of hers ?cause I plan to write a second part with that song.
Anyways, there are no warnings for this fic and standard disclaimers apply. Enjoy!

Sunday afternoon. Bright orange sun and gentle breeze could be felt from where she was standing. She looked down over the balcony and saw a lot of people hurrying to make the place look perfect. It was, after all, Relena Darlian?s wedding. A day long awaited by many people, mainly the press. She remembered seeing newspapers and magazines claiming this to be the event of the year.
She smiled, what a shock the press will have when they come later and be asked politely to Stay the hell away from my house!, Relena thought amused, and couldn?t help a small giggle. Ever since a tabloid published pictures of ?the ring?, reporters from all possible newspapers camped outside the mansion hoping to get all the information they could. After a month, the only thing they had was that the wedding would take place in the mansion, that it was going to be a small ceremony with only close friends and that the groom would be Vice Minister?s personal bodyguard, Heero Yuy.
As she walked back to her room, she picked up the white gloves from her dressing table and looked at herself in the mirror. She already looked stunning, the gloves would be too much. She put them back down on the table, next to a tabloid she had bought a week ago. She stared at the damn paper, and felt anger remembering its content. Somehow they had found out that Heero was a former gundam pilot and trashed her judgement for marrying a man who had killed and who obviously didn?t believe in total pacifism.
When he came that night she was already expecting him. He had surely seen the paper and she knew he would agree in some points. But when he entered the room, he literally ran to her and held her tightly and refused to let go. After a few minutes he told her he knew, he knew she loved him and didn?t care of anything else.
Relena opened her eyes and looked at her reflection. Everything was the way it had to be, and she couldn?t wait for the journey she and Heero would soon make. Excitement ran through her body and she looked at the clock. In two hours she would be Mrs. Yuy. Yay!
One hour later
Everything was ready. Hilde was already walking down the aisle. She was next. She felt she was going to faint, a mixture of excitement, nervousness and fear ran down her spine, and she found herself unable to move. A hand on her arm brought her back to reality. She followed the arm attached to the hand and looked up at her brother. He wasn?t smiling, but she knew he was happy for her, for them. Deep down.
?Ready??
She nodded. Suddenly she heard the tune indicating it was time, so she took a step, and another, until the bright rays of the sun filled her, blurring her sight momentarily. Once her eyes adjusted to the light, she saw everyone was there. Well, they only invited around thirty people, but they were all there, so she was touched. She saw her mother crying, and she gave her a smile. After the war they didn?t see each other a lot, so she was happy she came.
She looked at the rest of the guests, Pagan?s smile immediately catching her attention. She was so nervous to look straight ahead, she knew the second she looked at those eyes she was lost. The aisle was getting to its end and before she knew it, her brother was kissing her and the only thing left to do was look up. Into those eyes.
Yep, she was lost. She had never seen his eyes so intense before, but maybe it was because she could see them clearly, his bangs pushed back with the help of what she could only imagine was a full bottle of hair gel. As she took her place beside him, she eyed him carefully. He looked so handsome, and he was hers. She blushed at the thought and looked down. At the floor. At his shoes. At the blood on his shoes. She quickly looked up again.
?Is that blood??, she whispered. The priest had already begun.
He smiled nervously. Well, he tried to smile, he still wasn?t good at that. ?Duo pissed me off?.
He?s got a broken voice and a twisted smile
Guess he?s been that way for a while
Got blood on his shoes and mud on his brim
Did he do it to himself or was it done to him
She looked at Duo and noticed his split lip. He smiled apologetically and mouthed he was sorry. She looked back at Heero and thought he must have been nervous too and Duo teased him. Thinking he could be as nervous as she was calmed her a little. Damn those reporters for thinking he wasn?t good for her. They deserved each other.
People say he don?t look well
But all he needs from what I can tell
Is someone to help wash away all the paint
When had the ceremony finished? Relena found herself being pulled out to the dancefloor by Heero. A soft song had started, The way you look tonight, she thought.
?I love you?
She looked again to his eyes. That glow she saw years ago on Libra was there, and the softness they showed was breathtaking.
?I love you too, Heero?.
She remembered the moment she knew she was in love with him. All those years he was gone, she thought of him, but she didn?t love him, she just missed the strength he seemed to give her. That afternoon she knew, she knew she loved him, the day after they slept together for the first time. She woke up in his bed, but he was gone. She looked out the window and saw him in his backyard talking to a dog. She laughed at the sight, she felt sorry she didn?t have a camera around.
I saw him stand alone under a broken street light
So sincere?singing silent night
But the trees were full and the grass was green
It was the sweetest thing I had ever seen
After putting on his shirt she went out. The sun was bright orange and there was a soft breeze, making her hair get on her face. The dog was gone, but he seemed to be, singing? And there, she knew. He was happy, and knowing she helped him achieve that happiness made her love him so much. Her wish had come true, she was able to offer happiness to this man, a place in the world, a reason to live.
A hand on her cheek made her open her eyes. She hadn?t realized she was crying. He looked worried, and he pulled her closer to him as the song ended.
?What?s wrong??, she heard him say. She was still crying.
?I?m happy. These are happy tears?.
Heero touched her face and leaned to kiss her. The simple gesture was so gentle and sweet she felt new tears forming. The song had ended and other couples were joining them in the dancefloor.
Yeah, the world was perfect and just as it was supposed to be.
Anyways, there are no warnings for this fic and standard disclaimers apply. Enjoy!

Tienes raz?n.
