Destructive Attraction
By: Leia Avenrose
Rating: PG
When I pretend, everything is what I want it be,
I looked exactly like what you always wanted to see
When I pretend, I can?t forget about the criminal I am;
Stealing second after second just cause I know I can, but
I can?t pretend that this is they way it will stay, I?m just
lying to defend the truth;
I can?t pretend of who you want me to be so;
I?m lying my way from you

Her amethyst eyes were calm as he approached her, his stride slow, confident. He kept his eyes on hers, not wanting to break the spell between them. Only a few more feet. One step, two step, three?. As he came straight up to her, she dared to take a step backwards, away from him, not wanting to touch him, not wanting to feel him near her. Her back came up against the wall, and the gasp that fell past her parted lips was inaudible. However, the surprise was evident in her eyes as they widened briefly.
?You should be resting,? she scolded him softly, her tone gentle. Kurogane brought his face down a bit, his eyes never leaving hers. The Princess could feel his breath play along her upper lip, and that caused a strange stirring low in her stomach. She had to lean her face away until the back of her head was pressed against the wall.
The right corner of his lips twitched in a rare smile. ?And you, Princess, shouldn?t be wandering the halls on your own.?
He saw her brows draw together in a frown. ?You are not one to order me about, Kurogane.? Her reply was cool, and that irritated him..
?Oh?? Kurogane lifted a brow sharply at her words
She began to move out from under him; he towered over her by at least a few good three inches. Kurogane grunted, feeling suddenly frustrated, and quickly slapped a hand down against the wall next to her head, blocking her off from escaping. The sharp sound reverberated in the empty hallway, the moon shining in through the clear mesh of the screens placed up along the walls. The blossoms fell early this year; rarely did they ever fall until later in the season.
Crimson clashed with lavender.
In the distance, the water falling out of the fountains in the main gardens splashed. The long prairie grass outside along the Court walls rolled noiselessly in the breeze, the length of the spacious fields a sea of pale green under the light of the moon. There was a strained silence between the two facing each other; only their breathing consciously penetrated the their senses.
?If you?ve something to say to me, Kurogane, it can wait until the morning,? she finally spoke, her tone somewhat hard, brooking no room for argument. The Princess Tomoyo slowly brought a hand up, the sleeves of her elegant robes shifting down along arm, revealing pale, slender wrists.
Kurogane scowled down at her, slapping his other hand on the other side of her head, trapping her in. Her hand then touched his forearm; he was cognizant of her power, of what she was capable of with a single touch, if not thought. He kept his fear bridled, his eyes only hardening. ?I had something to say to you the day you forced me into exile, Princess,? he snarled dangerously low, ?and I?ll be damned if you?re just going to shoo me off again before I get to say my piece.?
Tomoyo opened her mouth to reply with a biting remark, he was really trying her patience that night, but as Kurogane swiftly dropped his face to hers, his lips capturing hers in a rough embrace, the words were stolen away. Her fingers tightened on his arm, her eyes drifting shut. The streaming golden ornaments hanging off the glossy dark oak pins embedded in her hair made music in the gust of wind that blew through the corridor. Kurogane shifted closer, sliding an arm down and around her waist. He pulled her into him, while his other hand slid to the back of her neck, his long fingers threading through the ebony strands of downy hair.
She felt her eyes burn, and a single tear slipped out from beneath her dark lashes, trailing down her cheek. Without opening his eyes or breaking the kiss, Kurogane brought the hand at the back of her neck up slightly, and brushed the sparkling drop away with the pad of his thumb. His lips softened against hers. Tomoyo lifted her hand, holding it to the side of his face, cupping his cheek. She could feel the harsh night shadow of stubble against the inside of her palm.
The embrace lasted a moment more.
They pulled away at the same time, both breathing heavily.
A flush whispered along her cheeks, and for the first time in her life, the Princess found herself at a loss of words. She lowered her head, looking down at the ground, her hands clasped in front of her robes. What was she doing?
Kurogane tilted his head forward, watching her intensely, silent. Without a word he reached out, touching his fingers to her clasped hands. Tomoyo jerked her head up, her eyes meeting his. She felt his fingers slide beneath the long sleeves covering her hands to touch her fingers.
?Are you ready now to listen to me ? Your Highness??
The Princess felt her lips twitch in a faint smile at the formal title. She nodded, letting his fingers move between hers and lace together. With the silver dragon katana at his hip, he gave her hand a tug, pulling her towards him. She went willingly, the smile still on her lips.
They turned and headed towards the back steps of the corridor where it would lead them into the gardens, both silent, both secretly enjoying each other?s company. The breeze turned soft the moment their feet touched the cobblestone pathway, and together they moved through the falling blossoms.
Kurogane glanced to her briefly. Her skin was almost translucent beneath the moonlight; it held a faint glow, her eyes bright, the color deep and more alive. ?Souma would give me Hell if she knew I had you here.?
?She does not command me,? Tomoyo replied quietly, looking over to the sparkling fountain. ?What is it you had to tell me then, Kurogane?? She looked back to him, head tilted.
Kurogane couldn?t help but give an arrogant grin. ?You didn?t hear it the first time, did you?? When she didn?t reply, he went on, ?Well, if you?d like I could show you again, Princess.?
Tomoyo sighed, turning to look over at the blossoms laying along the pathway. She kept her fingers laced with his. ?You know this can?t happen.?
The grin wasn?t so smug now. ?Just what the Hell do you mean by that?? he demanded, his dark brow furrowed. He jerked her around by the shoulder, his eyes blazing. ?Do you want me to go down on my knees and say it? Do you want me to beg? Is that what you want, Princess? Because I will sure as damned Hell do it, for you, I will. Just say the word, and you?ll have me groveling. You know that I only follow under you; I don?t belong to anyone but you! How more do you want me to swear my loyalty to you? How can I??
Tomoyo shushed him sharply. ?Keep your voice down or else!?
?Then answer me!? he ground out tersely. He ignored her warning, his voice only rising.
The Princess swore. Loudly. Kurogane fell silent immediately. He blinked, taken aback by the string of words that left such lips, and then threw his head back, laughing out. His deep laughter rang through the garden. Tomoyo glared at him, her lips pressed together tightly in annoyance. She tore her hand from his, folding her arms over her chest, her eyes narrowing further. The laughter faded into a quiet snickering.
Kurogane threw his arms out at his sides. ?I want my answer.? The mirth was gone from his voice, replaced only with a cool tone.
?Don?t take the haughty tone with me!?
The corner of his lips twitched again.
Tomoyo sighed to herself, moving towards him. She pressed her face into his chest, her hands clutching the front of his shirt. Kurogane slowly wrapped his arms around her small frame, cradling her into him. Lowering his head until his nose brushed her hair, he murmured, ?What?s bothering you??
?I wish not to talk of it, Kurogane. I only wish for you to hold me in silence. Let us enjoy the night while we still can,? the Princess whispered in reply, squeezing her eyes tight against the images of death and carnage in her mind.

Ooo! They make such a good little ficlet! I love their opposing personalities, it made the emotions stronger. The sense of longing and passion grew with the tension before them, especially in light of just how far I have read in Tsubasa. And that ending! It is so mysterious and leaves much to the imagination. Excellent job as always, I loved that kiss to bits and pieces!
PS: pertiful icon! It so fits Tsubasa perfectly!

hee!!!~ I'm VERY glad you loved this!
Also glad it made you happy, too.
Kuroyo are my most favorite pairing from Tsubasa, second in coming is Sakuran, hehe.
When I saw episode 1, I KNEW they were meant for each other. And as I think more and more about them, I'm reminded by Princess Leia Organa and Han Solo from Star Wars, only Kurogane isn't a rogue who flies spaceships and enjoys flirting with women. *dreamy sigh*
*whispers* I might just make a continuation to this little piece.... oh my! *\o/*

But still - good work, I really did enjoy it!
