[One-shot, WAFF/Fluff, G] And So She Told Him
Disclaimer: I own nothing, I regret nothing.
Category: 1xRP, 2xH, humor, WAFF, one-shot-ish
Author?s Note: Written as though from Heero?s point of view, so the sentence structure is not elaborate by any means. He is, after all, a numbers person. Rated G. Trivial fluffiness, really, though it masquerades as angst for Heero a little.
And So She Told Him
He just wished she would have told him.
He had to find it out for himself, unintentionally, when straightening the magazines on the coffee table. And that was not, he thought as he narrowed his eyes, how he wanted to find a book called ?101 Beautiful Names For Your Newborn Baby - A Guide For Expecting Parents.?
It looked harmless enough, with pink and blue little checkered boxes on the cover. However, the receipt, stuck neatly in the spine of the book, claimed it was over a week old. He stopped feeling then as it struck him that she had known for such a length of time and not said anything. Granted, they were a fairly private couple, and moments of soul bearing were rare although welcome. He accepted that in such a situation she would need a brief moment to consider things, but then surely, surely, she would have told him.
He watched her through the doorway, her slender back to him, chatting with a guard on the status of various reports. She looked thinner, if anything, while though her face glowed with promise and serenity as usual.
He stood up. Put the book back down. Stoically stared at her back.
?Heero, I wondered if you?d been updated on the??
She turned and trailed off. She would never hurt him in a way that would merit the cold fear and stabbing confusion that rigidly molded his body as he faced her. She tilted her head slightly, and took an uncertain step forward.
He motioned expressionlessly to the coffee table, with the book now in plain view.
She peered at it, looked at his face for a good minute, watched him turn slightly from her as though it would ease his pain? and slowly straightened with a strange look, almost as if amused.
?You don?t want to be a father??
It had crossed his mind he would enjoy having children; that much was true, since he was thorough in his marriage proposal to her in the first place. She would not quit her job, they would not attempt to recreate their social circles, they might have children, they would sign pre-nuptials. But to not tell him?
She regarded him for a long time, before sitting down on the couch and softly motioning for him to do the same. He sat, still turned from her. She sighed. Then her eyes twinkled, and he heard the patience and amusement in her voice. And so she told him.
?Heero, next time I buy a book for one of Hilde?s surprise baby showers- you might want to congratulate Duo, by the way- I?ll make sure to check with you first.?

That does sound like something Heero would do. And thanks for the clarification.hhryah wrote:Thank you!!! I know, I could only imagine Heero faltering afterward and being like "...oh..." and quickly leaving the room to bang his head on a doorframe or something.WAFF is "warm and fuzzy feelings." Ha. The panic that was sure to be visible on his face... *giggles*
Heero: I think my heart stopped, actually.
Relena: *smothers laughter*
Heero: I don't find this amusing.
Relena: Awwww. Well, how about we do some making up?
Heero: *blink* Were we fighting?
Relena: Do we need to?
Heero: Nope. *grabs her hand and tugs her towards the bedroom*
