Wings

You never seem to notice me
Much to my dismay
So I?ll give you a perfect gift
On Valentines Day

Not a room filled with roses
No need for golden rings
Instead of something useless
I?ll give you a pair of wings

Wings to hold you
Wings so you might fly
To protect you from the rain
So you could soar through the sky

All I could give you
Were those solid wings
Too bad you had your heart set
On a pair of golden rings

So when I gave you my wings
And bound them to my soul
You chose to break my heart
And never learned to fly
