How does one cure boredom? It is one of those eternal questions, it ranks right up there with why socks go missing in the laundry and why stupid/corrupt people keep getting elected to office. Relena was used to always having something going on, if it wasn't work, she was being kidnapped; if she wasn't being kidnapped, she was dealing with another government scandal, and on and on it went. But apparently someone forgot to tell the terrorists she had a long weekend because there were no attempts at anything that would even distract her for 5 minutes.
At first she tried watching TV, but she had watched every episode of mythbusters at some point (Heero had gotten her the DVDs for the constant plane trips for Christmas last year). Since she was not much of a fan of poker, or people building 'choppers' so she had given up on TV. She had given up on listening to Christmas music after hearing 5 different versions of O Holy Night in which the performers spent more time gasping for breath then singing the song. So she planned to turn to something reliable and trustworthy as the answer to almost any problem, unfortunately she was out of both chocolate and ice cream.
Instead, she went down the hall to the room Heero had converted in to his gym. At the moment he was doing one of the few exercises she could recognize, performing ab crunches. She decided that was enough entertainment for a while as she stood by and watched as he worked his muscles to an ever higher standard. After he finished working on his abs, he got up, drank from his water bottle and faced Relena. He didn't speak but just gave her a sort of, curious look.
"I'm bored." He just looked at her and blinked. "I've got no reports to read or write, conferences to be in, kidnappers to escape from, I have no idea what to do with myself." He stood silently while processing this information. At least, that's how Relena narrated it in her head, she did this kind of thing to alleviate boredom, but it didn't work.
"Well, you could try out your Christmas present."
"What, that brain teaser book from Duo? No thanks, I get 4 days in a row where I don't have to think and I plan to take full advantage of them."
"No, I meant the one out on the pool deck."
"What are you talking about? I didn't get any gifts on... the... pool deck?"
If it were anyone but Heero, she was sure there would be a mischievous smile on his face. But since it was Heero, it just looked like one side of his mouth was about a millimeter higher then the other side. However when his head nodded in the general direction of the pool she was now certain something was up.
When she first walked out all she saw was the normal poor area. It was an attachment to the house that was walled in to keep tabloid photographers our of their hair. Heero was standing behind her and she looked back at him slightly confused, everything looked normal to her. Then he pointed to his left, and down. When Relena's eyes followed the direction of his pointing, much to her surprise there was indeed something new.
Somehow without her noticing, he had managed install a new hot tub. She nearly knocked him over with how hard she was hugging him upon seeing it. Relena was so excited that when she broke from the hug and stepped back, she really didn't pay much attention to where she was standing, and promptly fell backwards in to the pool.
To Heero's credit, he didn't laugh (out loud) or show any signs of amusement. But somehow Relena was sure that in his mind he was laughing as hard as he ever had in his life. He slowly walked up to the edge of the pool and reached his hand down to help her out. She thankfully reached up to take his hand, and resisted the urge to pull him right in (besides, he was too well braced for it). Once standing up right she reached her arms around to hug him again, and promptly pulled him over with her to land with a splash in the water. He still managed to keep from looking fazed as he treaded on the surface of the water; and he still hadn't let go of her (not that she was complaining). He swam with her all the way to the steps (still without letting go, and she still wasn't complaining) and stepped out of the water scooping up her legs.
He walked along the pool deck to the shower head that was alongside there house so they could wash the chlorine off before entering. She heard as he turned the nozzle on, then yelped when the cold water rained down on her. Now she was pretty sure that he was smirking at her, and she was complaining, but he still refused to let go of her. After about a minute of the cold shower he turned the water off and set her down.
Relena had to admit, he had gotten her back, and done a pretty good job of it. She couldn't keep the smile off her face as he asked him, "what was that for?"
"Well, it's best if you rinse off before entering the hot tub."
"Oh, so we can try it out NOW?"
"You are the one who felt the need to delay the process."
"Fine, but can we at least get out of these wet cloths first?"
Now as he started walking towards her in an almost-stalking manner, she was positive he was smirking.[/i]

One last christmas present
The nine most terrifying words in the English language are, "I'm from the government and I'm here to help.''
Ronald Reagan
Get your facts first, and then you can distort them as much as you please.
Mark Twain (1835 - 1910)
Don't get stuck on stupid.
People are too busy talking to say anything important.

Please tell me there's a sequel. Hopefully a lemony one.
