Chapter 5

It?s been about 2 months, and Naruto and Hinata have been going steady. Everybody already knew about their relationship except for Hinata?s father. Hinata wasn?t sure if he knew and just ignored it or that he really didn?t know. Better late than never, thought Hinata when she was going over what she should do about Naruto and her father. I have to tell him, she continued, or else it probably would end badly. Hinata was sitting on her bed trying to go over all of the possible outcomes of bringing Naruto over for dinner so he could meet her father. None of them turned out well. She got up and found her father who was meditating outside on the steps in the courtyard. She walked up next to him and took a deep breath. ?What is it?,? asked Hiashi. ?Father, I wanted to bring my boyfriend over for dinner so you can meet him,? said Hinata. ?Oh, really?,? said Hiashi. ?Yes, father. I wanted you to meet him. He?s such a sweet guy and I like him a lot,? said Hinata in reply. Hinata stood there for what seemed to be forever until her father said, ?Okay, you can bring him over so I can meet him.? ?Great!,? said Hinata and she ran off to go find Naruto and tell him the good news. She later found him coming out of the mansion, down town that housed the Hokage. Naruto was looking down at the ground with a glazed look over his face. Hinata ran up to him and gave him a big hug. ?Ah-h, Hinata,? he said. She let go of him and said, ?I have great news. You can come over tonight for dinner to meet my father. That is if you can.? Naruto stood there thinking; he was still dazed from what the Hokage told him and now he was going to meet one of the scariest persons he ever knew. ?Okay, Hinata. I?ll come. I wouldn?t miss it for the world,? said Naruto. ?Great,? said Hinata, ?What?s the matter, Naruto?? Naruto replied looking at his watch, ?I?ll tell you on the way to your place cause its important.? Hinata looked up behind him and noticed the big clock said that it was already 6:30 pm. ?Shit,? said Hinata, ?We have to hurry or else father would be angry.? Naruto stood there with a puzzled look at Hinata, ?Did you just cuss?,? he said with a smile across his face. ?Oops, I guess it just slipped out. But come on we got to go!,? she said as she grabbed his hand. The entire time it took them to walk over to Hinata?s house Naruto was thinking of a way to tell her what he learned. But by the time he got up the courage to, they were already at Hinata?s front door. ?Okay,? Hinata said, ?Just too be safe, I need you to address my father with sir or else things will get bad okay? Can you do that for me?? Naruto said, ?Sure.? Hinata replied, ?Also, smile a bit. Don?t look so glum. He?s not a scary person after you get to know him. So smile, huh?? Naruto chuckled, ?Okay,? he said as a smile went across his face. They went inside and found that Hiashi was waiting for them in the courtyard, ?Ahh, you must be my daughter?s boyfriend that she keeps talking highly about,? he said. He looked up at Hinata and Naruto, and instantly saw Naruto. The Nine Tails Fox. Out of all of the people in the world, she had to have picked him, he thought. Hiashi was trying to hide his shock from what he saw. ?Father, this is Uzumaki Naruto.? ?I know who he is,? said Hiashi without emotion. Naruto said, ?Good evening sir,? trying to be the most polite as possible. ?Well then,? Hiashi said, ?Why don?t we have some dinner??

They left the courtyard and made there way to the dinning area. Naruto was thinking to himself, This was a bad idea. I can already tell he hates me for what?s inside me. Most of the dinner was awkwardly quite. Naruto didn?t look up past his plate on the table because he was afraid of making eye contact with Hiashi. Hiashi decided to break the silence, ?So? Naruto. How does a guy like you fall for a daughter of the main branch of the most honorable clan in the village?? Hinata gulped. She thought to herself, Why did you have to ask him that Father? He?s already uncomfortable enough. Naruto was thinking to himself, Shit I knew he was going to ask that question. Oh well, I have to answer him. ?Well, sir,? Naruto said coming looking Hiashi directly in the eye, ?Well, out of everyone that I know, Hinata has been the only one there for me. Out of all of my friends, that is. She was the only one that showed me the most concern for my well being out of my friends, sir. After I came to realize that fact, I seemed drawn to her. And then I found out from her that she had a crush on me too.? Naruto chuckled at that statement but then regained his seriousness about the question and added a stiff ?Sir? at the end of his statement with a smile.

Hinata at the time was looking back and forth from her father to Naruto. She was waiting for her father to do something rash but he remained serious faced listening to Naruto. Then suddenly, Hiashi closed his eyes and looked down. Hinata and Naruto were thinking the same thing, Uh-oh here it comes. Hiashi gained a smile across his face, and Hinata and Naruto were waiting for the biggest tongue lashing in their life about how an honorable girl can?t go out with some demon thing. But nothing came. Hiashi just finished his dinner with his smile still on his face. Hinata sighed a sigh of relief. She was afraid that her father was going to beat Naruto to a pulp. But she was glad that nothing happened. When Hiashi got done with his plate, he stood up and said with a little smile and in a less serious tone, ?Hinata, I am going to retire. I?m sure that you can show Naruto here out when you two are finished.? ?Yes, Father.? Hiashi left the room with a bigger smile than the one he showed at dinner. He thought to himself, I?ll just leave those two alone. Naruto seems like he needs to tell Hinata something anyways. Naruto? whatever you?ve done, you?ve changed her and made her the happiest I have ever seen. And stronger too. Thank you. Hiashi continued down the hall and then entered his room.

Hinata waited to hear his door shut and then said, ?He approves,? with a sigh. Naruto looked at her with a sideways stare, ?You call that approval?? Hinata replied, ?Well he does have a strange way with things.? ?You could say that again,? Naruto answered. Hinata was looking at Naruto directly in the face. She saw his puzzlement as he was looking down at the table. ?Naruto what is it?,? She asked. ?Well, I?ve been meaning to tell you this since I saw you this afternoon,? Naruto said without his usual happiness. Hinata became worried from the tone of his voice. ?Well, the reason why Granny Tsunande called me in was that I am being put into the ANBU,? Naruto said solemnly, he paused a little then continued, ?She told me that even though I wasn?t a chuunin the ANBU still wanted me since I have been training with one of Legendary Sennin.? Hinata was speechless. She could tell that it wasn?t something that he wanted so she asked him, ?That sounds great Naruto. Wouldn?t that help you to become even stronger so that you can be even a better Hokage?? Naruto perked up and smiled, ?Yeah you?re right,? he said, ?But it means that I won?t be able to go out with you as much anymore because I?ll be getting so many more missions now.? Hinata replied, ?Don?t worry about that, Naruto. With those extra missions you?ll become even more experienced. And I?ll still love you no matter what.? ?See that was what I was talking about,? Naruto said with a laugh, ?Thanks Hinata. I love you too.?
