CHAPTER 2


A couple of weeks later a festival was about to start in Konoha. It?s just another one of those useless holidays that people have so they can have the week off, Naruto thought as he was walking down the street. He was noticing all of the different banners and flags that were being put out of people?s windows and shops. As he passed some people he over heard them saying that there was going to be fireworks tonight over the village. Hmmm, he thought, I need to go claim my favorite spot then.

Naruto was making he was over to his home when he saw Hinata carrying some groceries. ?Hey, Hinata!,? Naruto said. ?Hi Naruto,? said Hinata which was barely even a whisper. She looked down because she was turning red and she almost dropped her groceries from blushing so hard. Naruto caught the groceries in Hinata?s hands and brought them back up to chest level. ?Hey, Hinata you coming to the fireworks tonight?,? asked Naruto. He?s touching my hands, Hinata thought. She started to turn, if it was possible, an even darker red. ?Uhhh,? was all that she could get out. ?Yeah?,? said Naruto. ?I?ll be there,? she said sheepishly. Naruto replied, ?Great! See you then!? And he walked off towards his home. Hmmm, he thought, she is pretty cute now that I think about it. Hinata was still standing there at the spot where Naruto talked to her, still trying to figure out what just happened. Did he just ask me out?. Obviously she wasn?t paying attention because Naruto just wanted to know if she was going to attend not go with her. I need to go get ready then, she thought and hurried on home.

It was a cool and clear night; not a cloud in the sky. Naruto was at his favorite spot that over looked the village which was on top of the Hokage heads. He brought along a picnic blanket that he liked to use for occasions like this. He laid it out and then thought, what?s a picnic with out food? So Naruto jumped of the cliff and went down into town to get some food before the fireworks began. Of course, Naruto went straight away to the Ichiraku ramen joint because that was he favorite places out of all of the restaurants there in Konoha. He placed his order and got it to go because the place was about to close for the fireworks that night which meant that he had to get back over to his spot. Naruto paid the man and walked out. Ok, Naruto thought, I got my ramen and now I need to go back to my spot to watch the show. As Naruto walked back to his secret spot he noticed some of his friends from the Academy. Shino, Kiba, and Neji were walking together probably finding a good place to. They waved over at him and he waved back, hurrying along to make sure nobody took his spot. Along the way when he looked to the side of him he thought that he saw a silhouette of a person following him. This only made Naruto go faster to his spot.

?Aaaaa?, Naruto said out load in relief, ?I finally made it back and nobody took my spot!? Who would really; nobody knows that this is the best viewing area, he thought to himself. He looked at the clock tower and noticed that it was almost 10. It should start soon, he thought. He took out one of his ramen bowls and was about to start eating it when he thought he heard something behind him. ?Na-Naruto?,? said Hinata sheepishly. Naruto turned around fast from the view of the city and noticed Hinata. A smile grew across his face and he said, ?Oh, Hinata!? Hinata blushed at the fact that Naruto was looking at her. Wow, he thought, she is pretty. Hinata was wearing a blue kimono that had some sort of design on it signifying the festival that the village was celebrating. It?s definitely showing her figure, Naruto thought behind his smile. ?So, Hinata what are you doing up here?,? asked Naruto. Hinata gulped. She couldn?t say that she was following him up here. ?Uhh, I come up here all the time. It?s the best place to look over the village and for the fireworks tonight,? replied Hinata, hoping that that would satisfy Naruto. Obviously it did because he said in reply, ?Really? Mine too! Hey why don?t you sit next to me and we?ll watch the fireworks together?? Hinata was speechless. She was turning red again, He wants me to sit next to him? ?Come on Hinata,? said Naruto as he stood up and walked her over to where the blanket was. She sat down next to him still red and not looking directly into his face which was beaming a smile. He looked down at his ramen and then he asked, ?Hinata, do you want some ramen? I brought some along for this. Ramen and fireworks are a great combo!!!? Hinata thought for a moment still looking down away from Naruto. She nodded and said quietly, ?I?ve never had ramen before.? ?WHAT?!,? Naruto said causing Hinata to blush a little more. ?It?s the greatest food ever!! Here try this one, its pork,? Naruto said while giving her the bowl full of pork ramen.

?Its pretty good, I think. But then again I like all types of ramen!,? Naruto said to Hinata. He had already finished his bowl when Hinata just barely started on hers. Hinata finished her bowl and placed the chop sticks in the bowl. She nodded to Naruto?s comment. She looked up back at him and saw him smiling at her. She blushed a little and then quickly looked away towards the village from hearing a loud exploding noise. ?Ohh, look they?re starting!,? Hinata said happily. Naruto watched the fireworks exploding over the village. Even though I don?t care that much about the stupid festivals, the fireworks are the best part, Naruto thought to himself. Then he looked down at his empty ramen bowl, Well maybe second best. Naruto looked over at Hinata and saw the fireworks brighten up her face with the different colors. He smiled a little. Well, I guess I could tell her now?, Naruto thought. Hinata looked like she was thinking about something too. Should I tell him now?, she thought to herself. ?I need to tell you something,? they said in unison. ?You go first,? they said again. Both of them turned red a little and looked away from each other. Naruto decided to break the silence between them and the explosions from the fireworks that were still going. ?Ahhh, well?.? Naruto said, blushing a little. ?Well uhh, I?m really glad that you came up here Hinata.? Hinata looked at him and focused her gaze into his eyes. Naruto said, ?But, since you?re here I guess I could tell you something I wanted to tell you for a long time.? ?What is it?,? asked Hinata being concerned for the boy that she had a crush on since the beginning of the academy days. ?Well,? Naruto said with his ears turning red, ?I-I kind of have a? crush on you.?

Hinata was speechless from that comment. Her crush from the academy actually likes her! He actually likes her! She was still stunned from what she heard and was turning red. All that she could get out was a little, ?uhh.? ?It was just something that I needed to tell you. I don?t know why, maybe just in case I die or something,? Naruto said half laughing and scratching the back of his head. He was trying to get a reaction out of Hinata. Hinata replied, ?S-so have I.? ?REALLY?? Naruto exclaimed. Hinata nodded and gave him a big hug. She was still blushing from what he said earlier and turned away embarrassed. Wow, I can?t believe that someone actually likes me, Naruto thought. He scootched closer to Hinata and placed an arm around her which brought her closer to him. Hinata couldn?t take anymore; she was already blushing up a storm and it was surprising that she hadn?t passed out yet. Naruto looked at her to take her all in. She was looking down at the village still being somewhat embarrassed. She really is beautiful, he thought. He then leaned over to her and kissed her on her check. H-he?s kissing me!, thought Hinata. She couldn?t take it anymore and she finally passed out from all of the commotion. She fell back into the arm that Naruto had around her. ?Ah, Hinata? Are you okay? Hinata?,? asked Naruto. I guessed she passed out, he thought. Still holding her in his arms he looked over at the clock and noticed that it was getting late. He picked her up and laid her down on the grass. The fireworks had already stopped for the night and Naruto folded up the blanket and put that over his shoulder. He then bent over and picked up Hinata in his arms. I guess she won?t mind coming over to my place, he thought.

He walked over to his apartment and noticed that it looked like everyone was inside for the night already. It was quiet now but in a peaceful way. He got to his place and opened the door. Naruto laid Hinata on his bed and put the blanket over her, and walked over to his couch which he then flopped on to. He was tired too from all of the things that happened today especially telling Hinata. I fought really bad guys before, but that was still the hardest thing for me to do, he thought to himself. A smile came across his face and he fell off into a sound sleep.
