2 series?

Post by Beer-monster »

Does anyone have any experience with writing two series? I'm quite commited to a large fic project, but I've lately had ideas for the 3rd Chapter of three little words, and have scratched out a few pages. How do I do both? :-?

Only a man would ask that question. Men are the ones who have difficulty multi-tasking. You also don't generally skip around in conversation. I believe a comedian put it best....

Men are like a chest of drawers. They open one drawer at a time, talk about things in that drawer, then when it's exhausted, open the next one.

Women are like an armoire. Any topic at any time is likely to trigger any other topic.

I'm teasing you, Beery. ;)

I write what I have ideas for. If you have two series ideas, write on the one that's appealing to you the most right now and take it as far as you can. When you get stuck, work on the other one. That's really all we can do. O.o Despite death threats, whining, or whatever general methods of inducement readers may try.

Bribing could work though. No one's ever tried bribing me. Just threatsand accusations. :P

Did you have more specific questions?

Beer monster: Um, yeah, where can I send hate mail for your anti-male sentiment?

Rose: IT WAS A JOKE! Sheesh! :P :P :P

*grumbles grumbles grumbles*

Love,
Rose

Its true that men do have difficulty multi-tasking.

That said the way you women flip from topic to topic and drawer to drawer, it is a miracle you can get anything done at all.

<Beer-monster ducks as Rose throws a variety of items at him, then gets nailed by the high heeled shoe>

Ow. :(

I was joking too. You can't make an anti-male remark without expecting and anti-female reply.

Rose and a variety of other women: Chauvinist!

<Beer-monster glanes around nervously> Right...um....I'll be off now...this is getting dangerous...<Goes to pub>

Thanks for the advice, I'll try that. But I find that what I write depends on what I'm reading. I read 1xR I come up with a 1xR fic. Etc. Anyway to control this that does not require a labotomy?

You know, I've never thought of that...women being better than men in multi-tasking. I've always taken my multi-tasking skils for granted.
But I find that what I write depends on what I'm reading. I read 1xR I come up with a 1xR fic. Etc. Anyway to control this that does not require a labotomy?
Oh, I have that problem too! My Hellsing fic was born because I read a lot of Hellsing fanfiction, though I was already working on a WK fic. Then when I read Fruits basket fanfiction, I want to do Fruits Basket fanfiction! I think the best way to deal with this problem is not to read fics of another series when working on another one. Resist the temptation! Use you will power! Control yourself, man! It's better than the lobotomy...

Or you could make notes on the ideas that pops into your mind, so you could get back to it...

But I think two of the best ways to handle writing many fanfiction or stories are to organize and to prioritize. Which story do you want to finish or complete first? Which one do you find most appealing at the moment? Which one do you have the most ideas, etc? List them up. For example, this is how I prioritize and organize writing my fics:

1. The Hellsing Heir- Hellsing
2. The Dance of the Curse- Fruits Basket
3. Dark Knights- Original fiction
4. Sleeping Beauty- WK

This means I work on the Hellsing fic first, then if I don't have any ideas or any inclination to write something about it, I go to the Fruits basket one. As much as possible, I try to finish one chapter on one fic before moving from the other. The list helps me focus, thus help me from making a big mess of things.

Gahh...I feel I'm writing nonsense...anyway, I hope this helped!
