Chapter Twenty-One



?Jasin we need to hurry up. The others will have already left and we need to make it to your lab ahead of them.? Heero was already adjusting controls in the cockpit, and making the final preparations for take off.

?Colonel Yuy the final checks have been made and we should be ready for take off as soon as Jasin is aboard with the data print outs from the Preventers database.?

?Noin. You really don?t need to call me Colonel. We?re the same rank and we?ve known each other for years. We?re in a hurry and there?s no need for the formalities.?

?Understood Heero, but once we get this situation in hand and you start working at headquarters, you?re going to have to get used to all those so called ?formalities?.?

?Hn.?

Heero?s response made Noin smile slightly.

?Ok let?s get going. I?ve got all the data we?ll need for the upgrades of the suits and?? Jasin stopped in mid sentence at the sight before him. Heero sat scowling at the controls while Noin was grinning in her seat by the navigation console. ?Did I miss something here??

Heero turned and glared at him and Jasin didn?t pursue the matter any farther.

Putting his data sheets in his briefcase, and putting the case away Jasin strapped into the co-pilots seat. ?Once we?ve reached space turn to heading 318.?

Heero looked at him funny. ?Why 318? L3 is farther west.?

?Yes but my lab is not connected to L3 itself. It?s still considered to be a part of the colony but its not connected.? Jasin smiled slyly. ?Which is why New Oz has not been able to find it yet.?

?What makes you so sure that they won?t find it eventually?? Noin asked.

?Because they?ve already searched the whole of the L3 colony a few times and decided that it was not the location of my lab.?

?Good. We don?t need any surprises once there,? Heero stated firmly.

Meanwhile, in the Middle East, Quatre and Trowa were finishing preparations with the Magunac Corps. While the Magunac Corps had protected and helped Quatre during the war and his fight against Oz and Romafeller, once the fighting had ended they stayed on to work for him and the Winner Foundation. Now that the time had come for the Gundams to go into battle again, the Magunac would fight by Quatre?s side once more, despite heavy protesting from their young master.

?Master Quatre the last of the shuttles are ready for departure.?

?Very well Rashid. Check the men and make sure they have all finished their good-byes. We will leave as soon as I check to see if Heero has sent more word on our rendezvous, and then send a message to WuFei.?

Once said Quatre turned and headed for his office to check on Trowa and Catherine. The impending battle would be the first truly difficult test of Trowa and Catherine?s marriage. They had not quite been married and year and now a psychotic madman who wanted to rule the world was threatening the peaceful serenity of the fragile life they had started to make.

?I hope the two of them can make it through this troubling time in their lives,? Quatre thought worriedly.

Upon entering his office he found them curled up on the sofa holding each other tightly. Quatre moved to go and comfort his two friends but Trowa held up and hand. Looking closer Quatre saw that Catherine was asleep. Nodding to Trowa, Quatre walked behind his desk and flicked on his computer, quickly pulling up his messages.

?Trowa,? he said softly. ?There is a message here from Heero. He says that the rendezvous point has changed and he sent the new coordinates.?

Trowa nodded.

As Quatre began to type away, forwarding the message from Heero to WuFei, Trowa carefully disentangled himself from his sleeping wife. Walking over to Quatre he looked at the screen.

?Are you sure those are the right coordinates?? he asked Quatre.

?That was what Heero had sent.?

?It?s still in the vicinity of L3 so it?s possible that this Jasin guy knows of a secret station left by OZ.?

?That maybe so but how much can we trust him??

?If both Heero and Zechs trust him then I don?t think we have to worry. The two of them never trust anyone the even remotely have doubts about.?

?You?re right. I guess I?m just being too cautious,? Quatre mused.

?I wouldn?t expect you to change your ways Quatre. You?ve always been the most cautious out of the five of us. Caution is needed in situations like this.?

?Thanks Trowa,? Quatre said smiling at his friend.

?What do you mean you?ve lost them!?? Azzarious screamed.

?They just vanished from our surveillance sir. The last position we had for them was heading towards the Preventers main headquarters.?

?GAAHH! You incompetent fools! They could be on their way to space right now and we would never know it!?

Fuming, Azzarious paced back and forth behind the chairs of the surveillance monitors.

?We would have been alerted had any shuttles broken earth?s atmosphere.?

Walking up behind the two men occupying those chairs, Azzarious grab each one by the side of their head and slammed them together. ?You idiots! By that time it will be too late! We need to stop them from reaching space at all.?

The two henchmen sat rubbing the sides of their heads vigorously while listening to they leaders tirade.

?If they are allowed to reach space it will be that much harder to keep good surveillance on them, meaning that if they manage to find the location of our base we would have less time to prepare should the decide to attack us. I WILL NOT UNDER ESTIMATE THESE MEN! They have stood in the way of the cleansing of humanity for too long now and I intend to put a stop to it once and for all!? A gleam had formed in Azzarious? eyes and a smirk was now forming on his lips. ?Let them try and stand in my way. They don?t stand a chance against my army of mobile suits.?

The two henchmen watched their leader horrified by the crazed looked creeping across his face. As they sat in the realization and utter horror that the man they had started to follow was mentally insane Azzarious continued his monologue to no one in particular.

?Once I have the Gundams out of the way the rest of the world will gladly accept me as their new leader, that is once Relena Peacecraft has made her announcement that she means to follow me, and then I will rule the world! Muwaha muwahahahah Muwahahahahahhahahahahahahaha!?

So this might just be false premonition, but random thought... Jasin seems a might bit sneakier than I feel comfy with. I hope he isn't going to turn out to be a traitor. :-?
Nice touch on Heero's edginess with formalities and Noin's reaction was very very fitting for her character. She's quite patient and almost maternal... even to Heero.
You gave me new insight to Quatre's character, it is quite true that he's the most cautious of the bunch. Never really thought on that. Nice touch.
Trowa x Catherine = kawaii :o

Things sound like they are really going to heat up soon. Looking forward to the next Chapter.
