Well, if Im remembering all the DARE and health classes we had to take in middle school correctly...

Actually, just one cigarrette CAN hook you. It's not really worth it to take the chance. Nicotine is a poison even MORE addictive than heroine-- there's just usually less of it in one cigarette. Still, it's freakishly addictive and dangerous.

And that's my two cents.

Point noted....However, scientifically speaking, one cigarette can't necessarily hook you to take up smoking as a part of your daily routine....just like typical advertising for make-up, cars, and whatnot, organizations that discourage teens from smoking tend to overemphasize or exaggerate their statistics and information by leaving out some details.....

Moreover, even anti-alcohol campaigns mostly fail to mention that a little alcohol everyday could actually be healthy except for pregnant women, obviously....I'm not gonna go into detail but it is in the Serving It Right seminar that I went to in high school...

I took up 1st-yr Bio and Chem and the molecular structures of certain addictive drugs were vaguely discussed...Now, unless I'm specifically asked to or if I even have time for it, then I'll try to research and post it here....

However, there just isn't enough nicotine in one cigarette that I'm pretty sure most first-timers won't be able to finish to hook them up...If anything, the effect is more pyschological than physical....

Plus, the seminar was for middle school kids...Therefore, it could've been more of a "scary" factor or strategy that was used rather than actual "detailed" statistical information that most kids that age wouldn't be able to fully understand, anyway...

However, I am not condoning smoking.....not at all..I don't smoke and I've never tried....It's deadly, stinky, and gross...I'm just trying to explain it to Raspberry in a relatable way rather than seem like a nagging parent (which I probably already sound like :-P )......You kinda know how that works, right?..the more your parent nags at you to do something, the more it is that you backslide....

well, my two cents seemed more like 50 cents....it was too darn long... :-P

I don't smoke but your friend's rationality about smoking seems a bit juvenile...try out a cigarette for a story?....just search it on the net and I'm sure you'd find blogs and articles on that stuff anywhere....
YES EXACTLY. I've asked her to just ask her brothers (who smoke), but she doesn't want to arrouse suspicions or something (BAKAAAAA~)
She did go around researching, but she really can't find any relevant material.
and for the story, she can get info without having to try it out for herself..It's not like she's writing to win a Pulitzer Prize just yet, right?
:D Yeah I guess...but she's that kind of person that doesn't like leaving things unfinished, so :-?

lol...sorry, I meant to say White Witch...... :-P

I think Caliborn's opinion about how dangerous nicotine is, is right....All I'm saying is that there's not enough amount of nicotine in one cigarette to hook your friend to it, unless she would deliberately finish a whole pack...

Well, it's more a of a psychological thing, I think. I wouldn't risk it, personally, but that's just me. I've lived around smokers for most of my life, and nothing about it appeals to me...

If your friend is that curious, I still would say don't try it. Especially not for a story... if she's really curious about -smoking- and not so much being accurate for the story, then just ask someone about it (you don't know any smokers?) or look online.

Sorry I'm not much help. ^^;

:pale: Oh goodness, I'm asking Heero Yuy for advice about guys... I'm screwed. Oh well, I guess you can help. Ok, let me first make it a point that I hate touching people, and I'm as romantic as a rock. A dirty, dusty, grey rock. I never have crushes... until now.

There's this guy who I've known for a year now. We started getting close at the beginning of our second semester, and now I really, really like him. He has ADHD, and has to take meds for it, so he has the personality of a slightly loopy, sleep deprived Duo. Amazingly, he's hard to read, and kind of shy. He moves allot, so I'm not even sure he'll be around long enough to have a relationship. But I can't help but have a little spark of hope.

The problem is that I don't think he likes me the way I like him. We have our moments, but usually it's during a joke or something, so I'm not sure if it's real or not. Once he grabbed my hand , because we were playing around and I was poking him repetitively, and didn't let go for almost three minutes. I hate this because I get all fidgety at the fact that someone's touching me, but I'm not able to pull away.

Still, I have my doubts. Someone said he liked one of my friends, and apparently she likes him back. She asked me if I liked him. I said no. Was that wrong? I've been a kind of a support system for him through all his relationships and break ups, but I don't think I could handle seeing them all cuddly. :pale:

Also, I have this friend, who's a guy, and he hugs me... ALOT. I can tell he likes me, because he keeps trying to cuddle me. He has a girlfriend (who I know.) Still, he's a great friend, and I don't want to lose him. :-?

How do I get the point across to my crush, and keep both friends? Is that possible? And what do I do if in fact, he doesn't like me? :(

Much Love,
Squeeze Me :salute:
((P.S. Sorry this is soo long and confusing!))

Dear Heero:

How many firearms do you have laying around your room? Please include all handguns, submachine-guns, assault rifles, sniper rifles... oh, yeah, and if you have any form of rocket launcher, please state so. I'm just curious, seeing as you're always... umm... "packing." Yeah.

Um... Excuse me?

I didn't ask about cigarettes, it wasn't me.

Yes, I have been reading those replies, but I haven't commented anything myself for about month or so...

Anyway, I'd like to point out that Heero is probably very busy now, because we hasn't shown up for 2 months now, so don't worry if he isn't replying - I am sure that BI will give you as good advice as he would ^^ :D
