Driving Under the Influence and Driving While Intoxicated. ^^;

DUI is basically driving with any sort of alcohol content in your blood-- even if you only had half a glass of wine. If it registers, it's a DUI.

DWI is driving while legally intoxicated-- meaning the amount of alcohol content in your blood has reached a certain percantage. I forget what exactly that percentage is, but it means you're fairly drunk.

Actually, a DUI means that your alcohol blood level is over a certain number; in Texas, that number is .08.

If you refuse to take a breathalyzer test, you're automatically written up for a DUI regardless if you're over that number or not.

What you're referring to is for people under the age of 21, but I'm not quite sure if it remains a DUI or becomes something else. For all I know, you get written up for both (which, I must say, would be great): DUI and drinking under age. If -anything- registers on that breathalyzer test they administer, you're going to get written up. Even if you took cough syrup for a cold that morning or it's your daily habit to rinse with Listerine. - They don't play around with underage drinkers when they find them; especially if they're on the road.

For DWI, there's a pretty plain difference between people who are "a little drunk" and those who are obviously inebriated. It's a shifting scale, so as to my knowledge, there is no number for alcoholic blood content that determines if one is intoxicated.

Now if y'all have been paying attention to the news lately, you'd know about the contreversial bar sting operation taking place here in Texas that the TABC is running. The purpose is to keep people who are publicly intoxicated (because that's a law, too) from getting in their cars. Pretty heated, and I'm one of the few people on the side of the TABC.

Now as far as drugs go... That's a completely different chapter from alcohol. You can get written up for posession, selling, using, trafficking... Depending on what you have and how much determines if it's a misdemeanor or a felony. I'm pretty positive that no matter which one you get written up for, you're usually taken "downtown" for at least a couple hours.

XD Gah! I sound like some cop wanna-be! But in truth, I was for a little while. Actually, I just really paid attention in all my repeatitive D.A.R.E. classes (how many times did YOU have to take DARE?) and Driver's Ed.

Yeah, I never had to do D.A.R.E. either. I had sex ed every year (and sometimes twice) from 4th grade to...I want to say...10th? But no DARE.

It started with me in 4th grade as just a one-day thing, and was like that for every year through 8th grade, except for in 6th grade. In 6th grade, it was an actually CLASS.

Sex-ed started in 4th grade as, again, just a one-day thing. Had it every year through 10th grade... Or rather Biology, so whenever you took Biology was the last time you had to go through sex-ed.
