Is Gundam Wing a Victim of Fan Rape Or Is it Not?

Post by lilac310 »

Ok..before anyone of you starts to convulse and lunge at me violently, I have to say first that this is not mine (DISCLAIMER in flashing red lights!) This is an essay written by someone whom I personally do not know....

I was just surfing through the net, looking for HYRP-related stuff and voila!...I came across this...

BTW, this is not intended to be an "attack" on anyone...I just decided to post this here because I thought it was interesting and would definitely give us more insight as regards to what happened in Gundam Wing ...So, try to be open-minded....there's no harm in doing that...

Also, just to warn you...it's really LONG..so, take your time...you can get back to it anytime you want...you don't have to read it in one-sitting...I didn't...I just read the parts I like and maybe I'll come back to read the other ones as well....

So, there..Enjoy!

I read everything and while the writers points were vaild i still like to think that Relena and Heero got married, had three kids and get together with the other couples to BBQ on the weekends. What can i say? I like living in my own little world, the ending are much happier here.

Yea..that's what I kinda think too....I'd like to think that there really is a possible relationship between the two and that Heero is indeed the "perfect soldier" in all aspects rather than looking at the reality of the situation -- that is if the Gundam Wing's world is a real one.

However, I agree with her points regarding "yaoi"....it just isn't right for Heero to be paired up with Duo...it wasn't even insinuated in the series...

...and I also like the explanations she gave about Relena's personality -- how the author explained her flaws...Anti-Relena fans should read that...They're so superficial..I just don't understand why they hate her so much...

I don't really agree with how likely the person said Quatre/Trowa was, but that's me. I just don't think it'd work that well. Because of their lives, their personalities, their commitments to other people/places/things.

But it's nice to see something like that in terms of its extensity and no blatant tangents of senseless bickering just because they don't like something to be a certain way.

WOW. o_0 This was very interesting. I, myself, am not one to take a show so seriously. But I have to say this essay is a eye opener. I agree with most of the big ideas. It certainly is true that this show was never a love story as other Gundam series have bee. I agree with the idea that the show is mostly about human interaction. I read somewere once that the show was more about the "idea of why war is fought" and I believe that. Other than perhaps ZechsXNoin there is no other truly romantic couple. Although, I am a 1XR romantic myself. >.<

All in all I'd say that the essay makes very good points and I agree with most of it.

Also I would like to suggest that this topic be moved to a different forum. Somehow I just find it a little too serious for "silly shorts". Not that I'm complaining or anything.

heh...Funny that you say that because I am indeed the semi-official (?) "Wrong-forum-poster" of this site...Actually, I think I originally posted this in the Alternatives Forum or perhaps, the HYRP Fanfiction Showcase...oh well...even, I can't remember anymore...

..And I posted this thing even before I was aware of my so-called "syndrome" of posting everywhere...lol...Now that I think about it, though...I think this should be in the BI:Off-topic Forum...that's probably the safest place to post anything in (as long as it is not a fic) but ehh...I don't have the power to do that...I realized my mistake too late....

Don't worry hun..our beloved Rose can fix that..

CheerS! Thanks for the input, though....I agree with most of it but being an avid 1xR...I'd really like to think that there's real attraction between them..you know, the Libra scene and the teddy...

huggles,

I really like this essay and agree with a lot of it. I especially like how the author describes Heero's character... He has emotions, gosh darn it! I'm starting to get sick of the "perfect soldier" thing myself, though that's how I often characterize Heero in my stories, too... but then, whenever I give him a shred of emotion or sweetness, there's usually someone that says I made him OOC. I challenge anyone who says that to watch Endless Waltz over again and get a glimpse of the real Heero! ^_^ Anyway, that's what I liked most about the essay... Also, the author seems to lean more toward 1xR than any of the other pairings (aside from the obvious Zechs and Noin coupling). I love the evidence the author presented, including, simply, the picture of Heero and Relena from Endless Waltz. :D

so true..It's really hard to capture the "real" Heero....and the perfect soldier thing can get quite monotonous too...

I think he has emotions but the way he shows them is very subtle....
